2023.06.04 03:32 metaldrumcore 3rd gen dodge value

3rd gen dodge value
I picked up another diesel in a trade but honestly I don't like the 3rd gen near as much as the 1st or 4th gen dodges and prefer my power stroke over a Cummins anymore. I have had to do over $1k in work to it just getting things straight and still needs 4x4 u-joints (clicks when engaged in 4x4 due to slop) and the fan clutch bearing is squeaking. KBB and NADA say it is worth between 12k and 14.5k ok private sale even though it has 361k miles. That's good condition.
It has zero rust, one dent in the tailgate, a couple small dings in the passenger door and that's it. Interior is near perfect except for some light carpet staining. dash has no cracks.
Previous owner put brand new tires on it before selling it (less than 1k on them now), ranch hand front bumper, replaced the injectors, had a shop rebuild the transmission, studded it, deleted it, tuned it, fass fuel pump, g&r diesel sump pump kit, fuel pump delete, and bed lined it.
I got it aligned, replaced sway bar bushings, sway bar end links, front shocks, rear brake rotors/pads/parking brakes, replaced driver parking brake cable, replaced idletensionedrive belt, replaced turbo oil drain o-rings, and changed the oil.
It drives like a dream, pulls great, and is a good truck. Just not what I want. What price should it be at? I'm having a hard time selling it.

2023.06.04 02:04 s0in Perfect my letter to the InterProvincial Lottery Corporation, to argue that they ought lower LottoMax's jackpot + raise the probability of winning jackpot?

Factual Background

Beginning May 11 2009, Interprovincial Lottery Corp. will be changing the popular Lotto Max lottery to add a second day and increase the jackpot to a maximum of $70 million.
The regulator of lotteries, which is owned jointly by five provincial lottery corporations, will still require players to match seven numbers, however numbers available to be chosen in the lottery will now included those between 1 and 50. Lotto Max has used the numbers 1 to 49 until now. The addition of the extra number decreases the odds of winning the jackpot to 1 in 33,294,800. Without the extra number, odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 28 million.

Can you proffer arguments in my favor, in addition to the following?

After a certain amount they should lower the odds so it's almost guaranteed that more than one person will win. No one person needs that much money handed to them for nothing. High jackpots exacerbate wealth inequality.
High jackpots are unconscionable. “If there were lots of smaller prizes - say 100 to 500 thousand, many more people would win. They would probably keep their jobs, pay off bills, set aside money for college for their kids, buy a new car, and maybe upgrade their housing. The downside could be that less people would buy lottery tickets because they wouldn't have a chance to win hundreds of millions. So there appears to be a perverse (at least in my mind) incentive to keeping the lottery system as it is now- with a huge jackpot going to one or two people.”
“I just find it disgusting that there's just billions of dollars waiting for one person to win.” Instead of merely making a few people ridiculously rich, it’s more conscionable to spread out the prize money over a larger number of people. I reckon that “a lottery would be much more interesting when they give out $100,000 to 500 people instead of 50 million to one person. Many people’s financial situation will improve drastically with $100,000 but 50 million will give the winner a lot of trouble.” It’s more conscionable “if instead of giving one huge Lotto payout they gave a lot of smaller payouts instead? Like instead of one 300-million dollar winner, 300 1-million dollar winners.”
But the Powerball countered that
If you believe that we should pay out $1 million prizes to lots of persons: After players told us that in focus groups, we actually started that game. No one played. Lotteries need to create a variety of games that appeal to different players. Powerball is a game that appeals to those players who want to play for large jackpots. There are other games that offer better odds (and so, lower jackpot amounts). Sales for a Powerball drawing can vary from $16 million to $200 million. You might guess which jackpot levels bring the most sales. Players vote with their dollars on the jackpot levels they prefer and we must listen to our customers.

2023.06.04 01:08 hela12 Work backpack…which one?

Looking for a work backpack and have been especially eyeing the everyday backpack 2.0. Currently have the TNF borealis that I’ve used through high school and grad school but while that’s in great shape I just HATE how tall and stiff the back is. The 2.0 seems smaller and I like the squarish shape. Does anyone use it? How does it hold up over a couple years? I’m worried about the straps.
I will be using it for work so needs to fit my 13inch work laptop, charger, lunchbox, water bottle, sometimes a small umbrella, a small toiletries bag and wallet. Some days I may have my gym clothes and shoes. Can it hold all this. I also travel a lot so I’d like to use it as a personal item during flights as well
ALSO, I’ve never bought from lululemon before. But do backpacks go on sale often? Should I wait or just buy at full price now

2023.06.04 00:49 September0451 Need Troubleshooting help. Pace Arrow w/ Chrysler 440

I hope I'm doing this within the rules because I couldn't find any rules listing in the reddit, so please let me know if I've done anything weird here.
Here is what is up: My grandmother is trying to sell off a bunch of my late grandfathers stuff that she doesn't need anymore (shes 89) and one of the things on the block is their 70s Pace Arrow motorhome.
I am told it is powered by a Chrysler 440, though I don't know what Transmission it's mated to. I guess it's basically the Dodge equivalent of a GM 454. In that class.
Anyway. We've done everything we can think of to move the motorhome from the back yard parking pad to the driveway out front to advertise it's for sale and to give the Arborists room to work in the back yard, but we can't get the dang thing started.
We ran it about 5 days ago for a few minutes, but decided not to try to move it because the brakes needed to be bled. So the next day we did that and then it wouldn't start.
We've got spark, the electric fuel pump works. We've tested all the lines and we have fuel pressure. Cleaned the sediment bowl. But the jets in the carbeurator just have no fuel. So we can get the fuel up TO the carby, but it's just not getting any fuel inside the barrels.
I'm more of a rice rocket EFI guy so I don't know enough about carburetors to do anything substantial here, But I thought the Mopar folks might have a pretty good idea. Whatever the problem is.. its AT the carby. We know we have fuel up to it, just not in it. Anybody run into a problem like this? Do we need to do a carb rebuild? We've already sprayed about half a can of cleaner into it. We have a water bottle full of gasoline with a hole in the cap. and we can get it start and run but as soon as the gas we squirted in there is gone. the Engine dies.
I'll post some pictures in the first comment. Thanks a ton if you've got some advice short of buying a new carb. haha
EDIT: I guess we can't upload photos so here are imgur links:

Hey y’all just a quick question since we couldn’t really get a solid answer from the shop guy but boyfriend has a 2014 Dodge Charger, accidentally drove for a few minutes with the hood not entirely closed, and is now showing a check engine light and the code reads for a catalytic converter, nothing is acting up, or weird, just wondering if the half on hood could be a source for the light. (Ps, neither of us know much about cars, so go easy.)

2023.06.03 23:48 Mikesavageusa Mike Savage New Canaan Classic Cars - The Best Muscle Cars

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines muscle cars as, "any of a group of American-made 2-door sports coupes with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving." Although opinions vary, it is often cited that the 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 is the first muscle car ever created. It was designed with speed and power in mind, using a powerful engine with a lightweight body.
By the mid-1970s some of this market converged into personal luxury performance cars, thus beginning an era where personal luxury trumped lightweight speed.
Performance-type cars began to make a return in the United States during the 1980s, however with new regulations governing safety and pollution combined with increased production costs, these new vehicles were not designed to the formula of the traditional low-cost muscle cars. Introducing electronic fuel injection and overdrive transmission to the remaining muscle car survivors like the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird helped sustain a market share for them alongside personal luxury coupes with performance packages.
Mike Savage New Canaan
Karl Brauer, editor-in-chief of the online car review aggregator "Total Car Score" is a self-described fanatic who characterizes muscle cars as his "primary passion." He compiled a list of what he considers 10 classic American muscle cars, saying, "Vintage car collectors consider these must-haves!"
Karl Brauer's list:
• 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 • 1974 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am SD455 • 1970 Buick GSX Stage 1 • 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS6 • 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV • 1968 Ford Mustang GT500KR • 1969 Ford Boss 429 Mustang • 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona Hemi • 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda • 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Car buffs sometimes refer to classic muscle cars as "overpowered iron beasts" because these cars were built to deliver and beating and also to take one. They often burned rubber, and were anything but agile. Big, heavy, loud and rude, they embodied everything that was great about the American auto industry of the 1960s and 1970s.
American car-maker Chevrolet offered many different types, beginning with the Corvette in 1953, adding the Impala, Chevelle, El Camino, and Nova to its ranks throughout the years.
Dodge threw their hat into the ring beginning with the 1966 Charger, adding the Challenger and Super Bee thereafter.
Other American car-makers offerings include:
• AMC's AMX and Javelin • Buick's Grand National • Ford's Mustang and Thunderbird • Mercury's Cougar • Oldsmobile's Olds 442 • Plymouth's Barracuda and GTX • Pontiac's Firebird and GTO
Restoring When restoring muscle cars, people have differing views on whether staying true to the original factory's work is the best way to go, or whether improving on anything you can is better. One thing to keep in mind is that a well-documented restoration performed by a renowned shop will always hold more value than one that's undocumented or completed by an unknown shop or individuals.
Customizing Muscle cars are experiencing a resurgence in popularity, however finding one in mint condition is near impossible. Finding one that needs to be restored, and/or customized is a different story. So many different things about these cars can be customized, it is best to do your research on what features you would like to customize before getting a bid from someone.
Most likely people who own custom car shops are huge car fans who have learned the skills to do something they truly enjoy doing. Ask to see some of their work before going with a custom car shop, and remember it's OK to barter when asking for custom work to be done to your muscle car.

2023.06.03 23:07 Zealousideal_Sun9986 19, looking for an older, "reliable" muscle car. Pop-ups and T-Tops preferred

Not sure how to format this post, but I'm looking for affordable performance/muscle car options. I work 5 days a week, and monthly income is about $4000. I don't have to worry about utilities, and I'm pretty lucky that my family has vehicles available to use.
Ultimately, my favorite car brand is Pontiac. I love the G8, GTO, Bonneville, and Grand Prix.
I have been fawning over a Pontiac Firebird WS6 for a couple years now, and it is one of my dream cars, but in my area they are going for around 13k-18k, and the insurance would be fairly high for somebody my age, at around $150 a month. Regardless, this is my main option that I am going for.
I was very close to purchasing a 1997 Pontiac Firebird Formula, but I decided that it wasn't worth it because the LT1 engine is much less reliable than the LS1, and has less power, but the same insurance rate.
The 3rd generation Firebird would be more of a pain to work on, but insurance would be cheaper at $80/month. I appreciate these cars as well but I would want something that has performance. The T-Tops, style, and pop-up headlights are very appealing to me though.
I really like the Buick Grand National, but due to the rarity and age, that would be completely out of the picture. The Pontiac Fiero seems to be a good choice because insurance would only be $40 a month, plus it includes features the qualities I want, but lacks performance. Same with the Buick Reatta.
I have considered newer cars like Dodge Chargers and Challengers, but I would like something older. Other than that, I have considered settling for something. I have considered the Miata and RX-7, but those are exceedingly rare in my area.
I have considered a Corvette, but I find them to be a lesser version of a Pontiac Firebird. Same with the Camaro family. Yes, I understand they are practically the same, but Pontiac is much more appealing to me.
I am not interested in anything Ford, or foreign. What are some other good options? Yes, I understand this may seem like immaturity, but I would like my first car to be something I can learn to work on and appreciate.
Edit: I have also considered the 90's Buick Park Avenue due to the reliability and maintenance. I have worked with the Buick 3.8 engine and I am very familiar with it. Only problem would be the lack of performance, and no T-Tops or pop-up headlights. But that may be a better choice until I have a better budget for a muscle car.

2023.06.03 22:58 Mr_Nex [WTS] PNW Toast, Vox Designs Dirty Raccoon, RGT Clip, MXG Clip, Saddleback Satchel & More!

Hey EDC Exchange -
Thanks for checking out my post! Re-listing a few things with price drops and added a few new items for your perusal. I am the original owner on all items listed EXCEPT the RGT clip.
First, let’s look at that timestamp!
First, a VoxDesign “Dirty” Raccoon - 3/8” in brass. Purchased new from UrbanEDC in July of 2022. I have way too many of these “bottle openers” from VoxDesign, and this one has never been carried or used…it should go to someone who will appreciate it. Basically new condition. Includes original bag and card. Item was $165 new.
Video here.
Raccoon is SV: $140 $120 $100 via PayPal FF (no notes), shipped via USPS. Final price drop on this before I just hang on to it.
Next up, a PNW Toast Co. Toast! This was purchased from UrbanEDC in June of 2021. This was an Urban EDC exclusive with a layer of Tiffany G10 sandwiched between Stabwood on one side and and Canvas Micarta on the other. Very cool little force multiplier, but I never ended up carrying it. Also purchased a brown Breadbox Slip (leather sheath) from Redeemed Creations that same month. Also never carried (although I did slip the toast in and out of it a few times, so it’s not “mint”). Toast includes original COA and paper bag wrapping. Item is like new. Toast was $189 new, sheath was $30.
Photos here.
Toast & Slip are SV: $200 via PayPal FF (no notes), shipped via USPS.
Next, a Peak Eiger Ultra X in brass. Purchased directly from Peak in 2017, I’ve carried this a handful of times, but never really fell in love with the twisty style interface. This is the Hi-CRI version with narrow beam, includes the tail switch (momentary) and clip (which I think is a Preon clip, but I don’t actually remember…I did have to pick it up separately). Beam is lovely, light is in good shape. Runs off a 10440 Li-ion cell ONLY (not included). Light (without clip) was $85 new.
Photos here.
Peak is SV: $50 via PayPal FF (no notes), shipped via USPS.
Next, a Ripp’s Garage Tech Polished Timascus clip for CRK. This came to me installed on a Large Inkosi I got on the Swap. I left it on, carried it twice, and decided it was just a touch too fancy for me. Removed the clip and it ended up in a drawer for a year or two, and was recently re-discovered. Clip is in good shape, although there are a couple very small spots on the left side of the clip that look like wear to me, I did my best to picture them. Otherwise, this is a great opportunity to set your CRK apart. These go for about $130 new, I believe.
Photos here.
RGT Clip is SV: $80 via PayPal FF (no notes), shipped via USPS. SOLD!
Next, an MXG Titanium Deep Carry clip for Spyderco knives. I got a couple clips from MXG trying to find a good match for my Swayback, this didn’t make the cut, but I liked the clip and kept thinking I’d find a home for it…never did. Time to move it on! It was very briefly installed on the Swayback, but never carried. It’s in essentially new condition. Originally $25.
Photo here.
MXG Clip is SV: $15 via PayPal FF (no notes), shipped via USPS.
Then we’ve got a Tanner Goods Document Folio in black. I got this from a sample sale grab bag about 10 years ago and loved it, but wanted it in brown. So, promptly ordered the cognac version and put this one away. It’s doing nobody any good stashed away, so it’s time to let it go. It’s made from a single piece of 5.5 oz vegetable tanned Meridian English Bridle leather, with brass studs. Features a felted wool sleeve. Aside from the “S” stamp (see pictures) I can find nothing that differentiates this folio from the full-price one I purchased at the same time. The case measures 12” long by 9” wide. Tanner Goods doesn’t make these anymore, if you’re looking for an elegant way to transport your documents (or iPad), this is a damn fine way to do it. Originally sold for $200.
Photos here.
Folio is SV: $100 $60 via PayPal FF (no notes), shipped via USPS.
Lastly, a Galway vertical snap wallet from Blackthorn Leather. I purchased this back in 2018 and carried it a half-dozen times. It’s a great wallet, I just prefer a “trucker wallet” style form factor. Construction is SOLID, the wallet feels bombproof. Wallet is in excellent condition. Item is constructed from hand-dyed, full-grain vegetable tanned leather and lined with plaid accent fabric. Measures 3.5” x 4.75” closed. The concho is a very well done reproduction Walking Liberty quarter (the coin collectors in your life will thank you). Item was $115 new.
Photos here.
Wallet is SV: $65 $50 via PayPal FF (no notes), shipped via USPS. SOLD!!
FINALLY, the last item up for today is a Saddleback Leather - Large Satchel in Coffee Brown. Got this back in November of 2012 to replace a Large Briefcase that was too large. It was carried a bunch in an office environment, but was ultimately replaced by a Mountainback Large Satchel in 2016. The large satchel is no longer available (in fact, none of the bags I just mentioned are still available), so this is your chance to pick up this beautiful leather bag that is tired of living in my closet. I’m including an older Saddleback leather slip case. I’ve used it to carry iPhone/iPad chargers, but it can work for loads of different uses. Also including a set of two leather utility straps that Saddleback used to offer that I kept laced in the D-rings on the bottom of the bag (great for carrying a jacket or sweater).
Loads more information about the bag can be found via this review: https://bestleather.org/saddleback-leather-large-satchel-review-408/
Photos here.
Satchel was $350 new. SV is $240 via PayPal FF (no notes), shipped via USPS (I think, might need to go UPS). This is also available for local pick-up for $200 here in Southern California.
…and that’s all. Happy to entertain reasonable offers (or combine shipping), but I am definitely looking to sell (not trade). Thanks for looking and please feel free to reach out with any questions.

2023.06.03 20:17 samwise801 Spare tire well?

Spare tire well?
Greetings all! I’m a few days into my new Bolt and wondering if my spare tire well differs from the norm. I’m told by the dealer my Bolt was originally destined to e a fleet sale, and as such it wasn’t even supposed to come with a charger (though it ultimately did).
So, I’m wondering if anything else is…missing from my Bolt. Seems like there’s lots of places for little gadgets in this styrofoam cutout below the trunk. Did anyone else’s Bolt come with stuff that mine didn’t?
And what is everyone doing to be ready for a flat tire, should it happen? Just keep a can of fix-a-flat, maybe? Any other ideas / tactics?

2023.06.03 18:37 Varro35 Varro Trading Journal 6/3/2023

Varro Trading Journal 6/3/2023
Intro
Hi All,
I am going to start turning these posts into more of a trading journal because there is a limited amount of new information to put out that I haven’t already covered in the past. In my personal life we just gave birth to a baby girl last week and I have a 20 month old son so time has become even more valuable than it was before. I have decided to take trading much more seriously. I am attempting to focus on both my career in tech sales and in trading. I am doing less of some of the things I enjoy but that are getting in the way such as video games, surfing Reddit, and watching the market. I will start keeping track of overall trading account balance, monthly performance, and log every trade. I believe I have all the tools needed to create true wealth - time to stop fucking around. Below is a collection of working notes that I am working with that some may fund useful:
Risk Management
  • Risk management is paramount and what separates the professionals from the amateurs. This has been a weakness of mine in that I have failed to reduce losses, protect profits, and take profits the last few years
  • Parameters (Work in Process)
    • Once up 20%, 10% trailing stop 1/4 of target profit. - experimenting with trailing stop. Sell 50-100% at target. Let 0-50% ride with trailing stop
    • Set time you want out by
    • Standard Equity Position 25%
    • Standard Options 1.2% (5 positions). Stop based on underlying. Real Option Player
    • Weeklies .5% (.005) 25% stop?
    • Write calls on STLD or NUE always on margin account
Trading Strategies
  1. Thetagang: Sell puts on stocks I wouldn't mind owning that are expensive vs Thetagang scraper. Sell puts every month with margin account.
  2. Steel: Buy at low valuation to mid, short at mid to high depending on fundamentals. 15% stop. Sell 50-100% at target. Trailing stop 25% of target move continuous. Own BRK.B/VOO otherwise? Or go into tech.
  3. 6% of book on options for the above
  4. Sir Jack style trading on up to 100% of book with standard risk management
  5. Weeklies: buy / sell on extreme moves and all boxes checked especially RSI and targets
  6. Buy leap calls / puts at extreme ends of ranges
  7. Buy / sell all extreme RSI events for short term tight stop trades. E.G. Buying back STLD short at 102 on sub 30 RSI and it bounced to 110
  8. Tech vs Cyclicals: They always seem to move in opposite directions. Play to my advantage.I will start watching/trading 5-10 tech stocks such as NVDA, TSLA, SNOW etc in much more depth
Trade Checklist
  1. KISS
  2. Do you know you will make money on a trade, even if you are closing another position to open this one? Worth diversification.
  3. Check charts Monthly, Weekly, Daily and go with the flow of the river if possible
    1. In: AI, Crypto, mega cap tech
    2. Out: cyclicals , energy, EV: Can cycle in when stocks are down 40-70%
  4. Fundamentals: SeekingAlpha/ Reddit / Investor Presentation / 10k / Analyst Reports / Earnings Call Transcript + Release + Presentation
  5. FeaGreed Index the opposite of what you are doing
  6. RSI (Below 35 / Above 70) / Finviz / Moving Averages / Channels / Pendants / Trends/ Elliott Wave (Fibonacci 38%, 62%) / MACD?
  7. Implied vol on options the opposite of what you are doing (High for buying calls, low for buying. puts)
  8. Social Media greed/love on things to sell, panic/hate on things to buy. More important than fundamentals
  9. Historical Trades. Did you buy a lot higher or sell a lot lower a long time ago and fundamentals improved?
  10. No more scaling into a position unless it is for a better price. I generally like being just in or just out at excellent times
  11. Last 3 months of options
  12. Options Book
  13. Buying Option = 20% chance of finishing profitable
  14. Selling Option = 90% chance of not finishing in the money
  15. Target + Stoploss + move stop up with profits. No more giving up profits. Most trades retrace. Options = 25% increments or move with underlying?
  16. Vol Trends VIX, Individual Ticker, IV for an option vs actual realized vol: https://www.reddit.com/options/comments/ulvsck/theta_without_delta_intro_to_vol_trading/
  17. ISM / Dodge manufacturing index
  18. Check upcoming earnings / guidance / news
  19. Institutional ownership
Broader Market Outlook: Bullish
  • We are like 17 months into the bear market if it keeps going it would be the longest of all time.
  • Debt ceiling: done
  • Bank crisis: done
  • Fed raising: prob done
  • On the steel side MT TX CMC X STLD all at buy areas. Commodities look like shit therefore time to buy. Though steel always had strong guides forward curve lowish. Prime scrap supportive tho and a better indicator IMO. Steel is ultimately going to follow the broader economy as a hyper cyclical industry.
Steel Fundamentals
  1. I do not have better information than what is found on steel reports, earnings calls etc and have no true edge. I do NOT have a strong view specific to steel right now on if things are looking bullish or bearish on the fundamentals but I do believe we may be entering a new global bull market in equities.
  2. I am generally just buying things that get too cheap and selling when they get too expensive.
  3. I am not taking a view on what the Fed will do, and whether or not there will be a recession but will generally be bullish, bearish, or undecided on the overall market.
  4. Generally speaking we just went through a big restocking in North America which pushed up prices very nicely but has since subsided. We still have hot rolled mills ramping such as Gallatin 1.5M, Sinton 3M.
  5. All of the steel CEOs are bullish the market in 2023 and see a ton of strength in most of their end markets
  6. There are long term trends that are supportive of North American steel equities:
    1. Oligopoly in North America with NUE, STLD, X, CLF
    2. Mexican producer AHMSA bankrupt, may come back but could take years. 5 million tons of hot rolled offline
    3. China re-opening
    4. Europe restock, will we get one here? Would benefit MT, X
    5. Turkey Situation: exporting less crap, absorbing lots of rebar etc for rebuilding
    6. Onshoring, Chips Act, Inflation Reduction Act, Infrastructure spending are all supportive
  7. Here are risks to the downside:
    1. We actually get that recession everybody has been expecting for over a year now
    2. More imports
    3. Market meltdown
    4. Russia/China being fuckboys war wise
    5. Environmental regs come out of nowhere

Selected Steel Company Notes
  1. MT: I am bullish on MT. I believe this name has been shit on for too long and getting too cheap. The CFO said flat out on the earnings call that the stock is undervalued. New 85 million share repurchase program. Cheap. I moved up my multiples. They also said restocking needs to occur in Europe. 50% of FCF will be returned to shareholders.
  2. TX: Great company, I call it the “Nucor of the South”. Dirt cheap and low float due to a billionaire owning 80% of the company. Big beneficiary from AHSMA going bankrupt, Mexico onshoring very strong.
  3. CMC: Could be the best positioned at the moment, wall street loves CMC. Two new micro mills. CEO expecting 2-3 years of a bull market for them.
  4. X: Great company completing a turnaround. I believe they are 5-10 years ahead of CLF. INSANELY profitable the last few years. Wall street hates X. Nice tubular profits last Q, hot rolled rough as it is across the board. They will have low or negative FCF for awhile as they build Big River 2 and new NGO Electrical line. Producing some Pig iron for vertical integration. Blast furnaces + EAF combo.
  5. STLD: Best run steel company globally IMO. 92% run rate vs industry 78%. Some of the highest margins. Strong culture and pay for performance. 70% of steel / fabrication are value added. Going into the aluminum business as raw steel seems played out. There has not been a new aluminum mill in North America in 40 years. I beles.ieve they could do what NUE and STLD did to the steel industry which was come in as the new low cost producer and beat everybody’s ass
  6. NUE: The king of North America. Moving much deeper into downstream and steel products. With NUE and STLD moving away from raw steel production this might give a hint as to what companies SHOULD be doing. Of course they could be wrong. 200 Quarter Dividend Aristocrat. Aiming for $10.25 EBITDA through cycle run rate which should be over $10 per share in baseline EPS.
  7. CLF: I am returning to hating the company so everybody should take this as a buy signal. The bottom line is they have a nice business with auto, HBI, electrical steel. However most of their business is on assets that have almost never made money the last 50 years. They have the worst balance sheet and margins in North America. From a purely economic perspective North America needs to continue shutting down blast furnaces and CLF might be in a position to be FORCED to do it versus X who probably WANTS to get rid of blast furnaces + union labor. MT might come out ahead on their sale of their North American assets to CLF. I was briefly derailed from my bearish views by their seemingly high locked in auto contracts but they lost money the last 2 quarters. I was long at $17 with a $24 target that was never hit as the banking crisis took hold. As an example of shitty risk management I lost money on the trade instead of taking profits on a trailing stop. There is always a story for the future and disappointing profits now. I have significantly reduced my base through cycle EPS until theory prove me wrong.

2023.06.03 18:10 moefoer Book2 Pro 360 still worth it in 2023?

I'm moving to Spain from the USA in September to teach indefinitely and have decided not to go through the hassle of transporting my outdated pc with me. I also have an iPad Pro that I use solely for digital art that I desperately want to sell because it's basically an expensive sketchbook. So, I've decided to pursue a 2-in-1 laptop that I can draw with so I can sell both my pc and iPad.
However, I can't decide between getting the 15.6" Book2 Pro 360 and the 16" Book3 Pro 360. My expenses for my visa, airfare, apartment fees, replacing my broken s20+ with an s23 ultra, and first month's costs are going to be about $4000+, so I'm stuck between spending the extra money on the new one and just getting the 2.
I'D BE USING IT FOR: -- occasional 4k video editing because I'll be vlogging my experiences. I'll be using Kdenlive instead of something RAM intensive like Adobe.
-- internet browsing and multitasking (maybe up to 10 tabs at a time at most) and blog post writing since I run a small blog.
-- digital artwork through clip studio paint.
-- minor lightroom photo editing.
-- note-taking.
-- slideshow presentations and small Zoom meetings to provide private tutoring sessions.
-- using my galaxy tab s7+ as a second monitor.
Samsung (and tech in general) is more expensive in Europe so I need to get one before I leave in September. I prefer the size of the 2 versus the size of the 3. However, the 3 is slightly more powerful, better resolution, and is less flexible/flimsy than the 2. I am also needing something to last me a long time, especially since replacing it will be much more expensive in Spain, so I worry about the longevity of the 2.
Right now I can get one of the Book2 Pro 360s with the s-pen and charger off ebay for less than $900. Best Buy and Samsung still have them at $1300-1600 and the 3s for $1900 outside of the occasional sale for $1600. I feel like the 2 is the better choice but the only laptops I've ever owned were a 2012 MacBook air and a 2014 hp so I don't have the most experience with them, especially Samsung laptops.
Do you think the Book2 Pro 360 with the s-pen is still worth it for my needs in 2023? Or should I plan to drain my wallet with the Book3 Pro 360?
