2023.06.09 00:10 Silver_Lychee823 Wisconsin resident buying private in cash in Illinois

Hey all, title is my situation. Live in Wisconsin and see a car I want to buy and pay in cash for down in Illinois. What laws/things do I need to be aware of? I’m assuming I need to pay tax when I go to register it at the DMV, but do I need to get a temp plate right after purchasing? Or can I drive it across the state lines to home and be fine? Appreciate it!

2023.06.09 00:00 bakonydraco Possible Combinations of 3+ Undefeated Big Ten Teams in 2024/2025

The Big Ten has moved to a scheduling model they call Flex Protect Plus, in which each team plays 9 games, with 3 protected rivalries in every 2 year period. There are no divisions, which importantly means that there is no guarantee that we will get to the Big Ten Championship game with 2 or fewer undefeated teams. Since the schedules are now published, we can see what combinations of 3 or more Big Ten teams in 2024 and 2025 do not play each other, and therefore could get through the conference slate unscathed. This would obviously make one of these teams a little unhappy for missing the conference championship.

Schedules in Text

The announcement has the images graphically, but I hadn't seen them in text yet, so I converted them and put them in the spreadsheet above. Feel free to use and share if it's useful to you.
I wrote a brief Python script to go through and identify combinations of teams that don't play. Here are the sets in each year.

2024

3 teams
4 teams
None!

2025

3 teams
4 teams
Please note that the SEC has only 8 conference games, and so there will likely be many more of these for them.

2023.06.09 00:00 Worried_Half2567 Illinois GC license

This is probably a long shot but if there are any Illinois GCs here can you comment or PM how long it took for your license to come through? They say 6-8 weeks and its been more than that for me and I have no idea how much longer i should wait. I already hold another state license so its not like i’m missing any reqs.

2023.06.08 23:59 Possible_Fly325 Am I overreacting?

Sorry this is a lot I’m bad with words
I’m 15ftm (no medical transition just social) I’ve always just thought a lot of this normal. Ive become used to constant pain whether that be joint, back, headache, stomach, jaw, or just everywhere. Ive become desensitized to pain in a sense sometimes not even realizing I was bleeding/had huge bruises at times. I do feel pain just I can kinda remove myself from it. So normally if im in de-habilitating pain I know it’s at least kinda bad.
I’ve had acid reflux since kindergarten and would complain about “spicy” stuff splattering in my throat when I would run after eating. I’ve had trouble breathing due to it and had to go to the doctor to check for asthma (I got told my vocal cords were spasming but no actual testing was preformed) my acid reflux has gotten worse and when I wasn’t on my acid reducers happened almost once a day (slowly got worse throughout the years)
I’ve always rolled my ankles and it sometimes hurts but usually doesn’t it has resulted in me falling down stairs and randomly collapsing while walking.my parents would get annoyed cause I would complain about about pain when walking because sometimes it’s fine but sometimes I’m grabbing onto things so I can just stand up. I constantly lose feeling in my legs even if I just sit down for a minute. Anytime I get up they are always popping. It constantly feels like all my joints have a bunch of air in them and no matter how hard I try to pop and crack it won’t go away. My hand bones constantly pop, crack and hurt. (I’m an artist/i type a Lot so this gets annoying and painful it feels like I’m gonna fall almost all the time and this feeling has gotten worse over time. I constantly hyper flex my legs and only now have I started to over bend my knees to prevent it) I rollerblade and will just have a leg give out on me and I’ll fall which can be dangerous.
I have constant headaches I’ve had one that’s lasted for 2 months currently (I’ll get a few hours or a day of relief sometimes) normally it’s pretty tame and I can block it out if I don’t think about it but sometimes I can’t open my eyes with how bad it hurts.
I have inflamed tonsils and decaying teeth but I’m sure that’s from the acid reflux. I have been diagnosed with ibs and have been given acid reducers for the acid reflux (they help but it still happens semi consistently) im sometimes stuck on the floor or in bed for hours because my stomach hurts so bad it’s horrible. I’ll be stuck on the toilet for an hour from pain and have fissures(i see bright red blood blood in stool semi often) I’ve been constipated for 7-9 possibly more days at some points. Im terrified to eat because I don’t know if it’s gonna hurt me (my eating disorder does not help this) and I have become underweight/malnourished. Even when I eat nothing goes away
I have such bad fatigue I will just sit there and stare no music or tv just stare at a wall because I can’t get the energy to do anything. I struggle getting out of bed and have constantly been yelled at because it will take me 30-40 minutes some days to just stand up out of bed. (If I’m not being yelled at it takes me multiple hours to want to get out of bed most days) I have trouble sleeping and almost never sleep well often only being able to get 4-6 hours even though I am extremely tired
I’ve had other minor things such as large red bumps in my nose that have been getting worse for months and have been making it hard to breath at points. My ear randomly bled like two weeks ago (woke up with blood dripping from my ear canal and all over my ear) it was while I was sleeping and stopped by the time I woke up. Lots of bruises like I will bruise if someone even just touches me slightly too hard. (My bruises take months to heal a lot so it’s annoying) I have pretty consistent muscle spasms and sometimes can’t move my entire body for minutes at a time. (I can blink and breath luckily)
I do experience tactile, visual, and auditory hallucinations along with delusions. I also have horrible anxiety. So idk if that is playing into this. My parents say I’m a hypochondriac and get annoyed whenever I say something hurts (I did go to the doctor about my stomach issues luckily after like a year of complaints)
am I just overreacting or should I ask about more medical testing?

2023.06.08 23:06 Isanbard [R1S] San Francisco Bay Area -> Illinois: Final Part

It's the End of the World as we know it —R.E.M.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
The ending is pretty anti-climatic. With "only" ~600 miles left, Nibbler and I decide to push through and get home. It's a two-charge day.
The last charge involved a conversation with a group of Québécois about EVs and charging. That happens a lot. So many people are interested in Rivians. I enjoy showing it off to them and talking about the range and how big the inside is and in general how fun it is.
But what about the truckers?
Trucker 1: We haven't seen him in several days now. Are you calmed down...wait...what's that darkness up ahead? Trucker 2: THE PROPHESY HAS BEEN FULFILLED!
Oh...crap...
Enjoy your Rivians!!

2023.06.08 22:59 Smallcutewolf I am ill, tired, exhausted, without family, noone loves me, everything in my life went wrong. Every time I try something bad happens. Is the only chance to have peace when I wont be alive?

I was born to alcoholic abusive mother who hated me and father who didnt want me. My whole childhood was a mess. Bullied at school for my looks. Kids didnt want to talk to me because of family too. Mother often went to city and shit herself while drunk walking around. Her mates sexually assaulted me. I lived with grandparents who were abused from family for saving me and I was abused from them verbally. When they died family took house and made me homeless. I tried so much to study and work but I got panic disorder and depression. Lost my job by the sea abroad, lost my dog because grandmother killed him. She killed my rabbit too. Tried many antidepressants, but they ruin my stomach and give me horrible side effects so I survive on benzos. I also ended in bad relationships, was beaten, used, lied to.
Finally when I met someone who was nice their family ruined us. We went abroad and his father commited suicide. Its very long story involving alcohol and toxic relations. Another family members were jealous of our wedding, our plans with home and work abroad. We had to go back to this shit from after 2 weeks. My grandmother died from overdose of pills she told me to buy. Mother died by train. Friend hanged himseld. Step grandfather shot himself. And my husbands father followed them all. Then I got covid 3x and ended with gallbladder removal which led me to bile reflux and now I burn inside and in throat every day. 7 months every day and no meds help. They say it could be forever.
I also suffer from joints and bones pain, from 1st covid in 2020 and to this day I am not diagnosed. My other dog was killed by some stupid fkr. I live in poverty shit country where people kill animals for fun. I lost another job. Had 3 jobs where I was sexually abused too. Its just too much. This life is just too much. I always tried so hard but this fkn life keeps throwing bad things at me everytime I feel little bit happy and strong and now health is gone I just dont want to live like this anymore. I am 37 and this is just way too much. Everyone who says be positive or oh you are so negative stupid people who have no idea what happened to me in all these 37 years and how does it feel to live shit life like I have. I am sure I wasnt meant to be born. I think its not normal to have to deal with so much shit. Im angry, tired, exhausted,. I just wish I was dead but I dont want to commit suicide. Why some people are so lucky to have happy life and some have to suffer to the point the cant see any light anymore. Even my husband doesnt love me anymore, we are just friends now. Everything is gone, ruined.

2023.06.08 22:56 Yokie_Doke_ Due for new tires on a Hybrid

So I'm due for new tires on my 2021 hybrid Kia Sorento. I am a commuter to the maximum (1hr 20mins one-way) and my current set of tires, Bridgestone Alenza A/S Ultra, haven't lasted much passed 50k miles while rated for 80k. I spend most of my time on the interstate with maybe 5-10 minutes on country roads in Illinois.
I do need all season tires but I am wondering if I'll just have to live with the fact that I won't get the mileage from them due to the hybrid weighing more or if there are some really good tires that might last longer and still get good grip and ride decently.
Anyone have any ideas or good experiences with a hybrid car and a certain set of tires?

2023.06.08 22:43 continuerevo Apartment recommendation

Incoming graduate student here. I'm trying to research housing and I want to gather some recommendation. My potential roommate picked The Linc. The price and layout seem pretty nice but it seems to be very faraway and unsafe (very severe red flag) according to several posts (this, this and this). I want to gather some recommendation from here.
I don't mind if your recommended housing is not available for Fall23. Even if I live in an awful place, I want to get prepared to live a good life during my 2nd year.
My preference are listed below.
  1. Safety. This is the most important requirement. I do not want to live under fear that there will be gunshot.
  2. Quiet. I might spend the majority of my time in my apartment studying, so this is also very important, but less important than 1.
  3. Air conditioner available.
  4. 2b2b/Studio/1b1b available. I would strongly prefer to have my own bathroom and <= 1 roommate.
  5. Near campus. This is just a preference. In the worst case, I hope that bus could be available.
  6. Price under $1500 per person. If the price is above this range, I might need to ask my parents for money.

2023.06.08 22:38 idkwhatmydogsdoing I want a beehive

I want a beehive in my backyard yet idk where to start. I live in suburban Illinois, near Chicago.
My backyard is an average suburban backyard (not that big) does it need to be big?
Plus, how do I look if this is 100% legal? I looked it up and I honestly don't get a straight answer.
I like bees and I want to do my part to help them thrive (as much as I can) and I just like the idea of having bees 🤷‍♂️
This is just an idea for now I'm not doing anything until I'm 100% confident. Thank you 🤙

2023.06.08 22:32 XF10r3nc3777X What plant is this?

What plant is this?
I'm in the second warm season of fixing up the garden at my new house. Moved here end of August last year.
After amending the soil in the existing flower beds and removing all of the weeds, I planted a lot of new things. Recently, this vine has been popping up everywhere. I pull them as soon as I see them, but they quickly pop up elsewhere. Does anyone know what this plant is? I do love vines, and I have another trellis that still needs filling so if it isn't invasive, I may move some. It tends to wrap itself around other plants, so it cannot stay in my flower beds.
I tried looking on Google for common vines/ vining weeds in my state (Illinois) and couldn't find an exact match. Let me know your guesses!

Sorry for the bad photo, but who are these guys?
Central Illinois. I mostly see them in the countryside, around corn fields, but I see them in town sometimes, too. These two were on a cucumber plant.
They are shaped almost like ants but I'm pretty sure they're not, maybe some kind of fly? I think they have fly-like mouthparts.
They are mostly black with a honey brown abdomen, they have black stripes on their wings, and they're maybe 5mm long.

2023.06.08 21:27 JurassicParkHadNoGun Online seller sent duplicate product

A week ago, I ordered something online and they accidentally sent two of what I bought. I double checked to see if I was charged twice, and I wasn't. The item is about $300, so nothing that should fall through the cracks. I messaged them a day after getting the items (last Wed), and twice again since then. They haven't responded yet.
I live in Texas and the seller is in Illinois. Do I have any reason to fear legal or civil repercussions for keeping the duplicate item? I would feel better if I got it back to them since they are a small business, but if they're not getting back to me, it's kind of their fault. For the time being, I have the item set aside somewhere safe so nothing happens to it.
Thanks in advance!
