Finally worked up the nerve to restart!
I’ve been playing since August 2020, and lately, I’ve been quite bored. It’s challenging because I had completed quite a lot (art museum, fossils, sea creatures, K.K. songs, fully upgraded houses, etc.) But I played for so many hours today and I’m excited to build my island back.

2023.06.04 05:12 Optimal_Visual3416 AITA or did I dodge a bullet?

I am a 32yo woman. In 2020 I went through a divorce w/ my ex husband, who we will call J. I caught J cheating on me for months. He made think I was crazy till I finally wised up and pulled our phone records out. When I confronted him, I had the intentions trying to forget about it and fix our marriage (we had children together). My ex husband told me he didn't want a divorce but he didn't want to be w/ me either. This went on for months. I finally gave up and filed for a divorce to be done, with his knowledge. At that point in time he was still with the girl he cheated with.
I started talking to an old friend, from childhood, of mine. His name happened to be J as well so we can call him J2 (eye room for my stupidity). Everything was going great untill Joe1 found out I was talking to J2. J went through my social media accounts, as he knew all my passwords and sign in info from being married for 10+. J decided to message J2 (on my account) telling him we were still actively trying to fix our marriage, that there was no divorce. J2 had already been warning that J1 was a heavy manipulator. J2 believed everything and broke things off w/ me w/ the understanding that we could try again once I had the paper to prove a finalized divorce (a divorce can take a year here) even though i did not want the relationship to end like that.
In that time period my friends, seeing how unhappy and depressed I was, encouraged me to go on another date. I agree finally after alot of encouragement. That's when I met my now fiancée. We will call him Steven (thank God it wasn't J 😂). Steven is an amazing guy. Didn't heist to let me know I was everything he wanted. Within a year of dating (and of course that divorce being finalized) he proposed to me. I have hardly looking back since as Steven has been a dream come true. We are to be married a month from now.
This is where it gets a bit crazy. J2 messages me saying how upset he was that I was with Steven. I can tell he is looking for closure after all this time (over a year). I explain to him that I didn't plan it. That I still value him as a friend, however I'm marring Steven. That I'm sorry he felt that I wronged him, I had no intentions of hurting him. I reminded him that he broke things off with me. I encouraged him to keep dating and find that person he wasn't willing to let go of so easily. From that I have been called alot of names and essentially told I'm the worst kind of person for allowing myself to be happy with Steven after ruining what I apparently "had" with J2. So am I the A-hole or did I dodge a bullet?

2023.06.04 05:03 Avaoln Had AI write a story about Vaush and Destiny teaming up to take on Ben Shaprio...

Here is a short story of Vaush and Destiny putting aside their differences to fight Ben Shapiro:

Vaush stormed out of Destiny's stream, frustrated by their latest debate. Though they shared a passion for justice, their views on tactics and rhetoric often clashed.

Later that day, news broke of Ben Shapiro challenging leftist streamers to a debate. Destiny knew that alone, neither of them stood a chance against Shapiro's quick wit and ability to twist facts.

Destiny reached out to Vaush. "We may disagree on how to argue, but we both know Shapiro argues in bad faith. To defeat him, we have to work together."

Vaush was hesitant at first, still stung by Destiny's criticisms. But he recognized the larger threat Shapiro posed. "You're right. Our differences are minor compared to what we stand against."

So together they prepared, reviewing counterarguments to Shapiro's favorite tactics - gish galloping, strawmanning and misinterpreting data. They had long debates of their own to iron out disagreements and build trust.

On the day of the debate, Shapiro was smug and overconfident. But Destiny and Vaush had come prepared, challenging Shapiro's factual distortions and exposing the hollow reasoning behind his arguments.

Though Shapiro fired back with rapid-fire talking points, Destiny and Vaush stood united, exposing hypocrisy and dodging red herrings with evenly-matched rhetoric.

By the end of the debate, Vaush and Destiny had put aside their differences, working together seamlessly to make meaningful counterarguments that impressed even Shapiro's fans. Through their union, they showed that meaningful debate could still exist.

Afterwards, Vaush and Destiny shook hands, newly resolved to find common ground through honest communication and good faith. Their differences would only make their joint arguments stronger.

2023.06.04 04:54 bigjohn14325 P.U.R.E - Booking Drew McIntyre’s Return

Money in the Bank 2023
In London, Seth Rollins defends the WHC agains Finn Bálor in a banger of a match, and retains the title in the end. After the match, JD attack Rollins until Drew McIntyre comes out and fights off the heels. But, in a shocking turn of events, McIntyre claymores Rollins and holds up the WHC.
Summerslam 2023
Drew McIntyre vs Finn Bálor vs Seth Rollins(c): World Heavyweight Championship
Drew McIntyre explains that he’s been under appreciated for far too long. He carried this company through a pandemic yet he doesn’t get the appreciation that he deserves. McIntyre says that he’s done doing a damn thing for the fans and that he’s going to get the moment that he’s “owed” any means necessary. Bálor has a bone to pick with Drew for attacking him and so does Rollins which leads to a huge triple threat at Summerslam.
This match at the biggest party of the summer is a classic. Bálor & Rollins for a temporary alliance to take down the psychopathic Scotsman but Drew is on the warpath for that moment he feels that he deserve. Rollins gets taken out at ringside which leaves Drew to hit a Claymore on Bálor but as he pins Bálor, Rollins hits a Curb Stomp on Drew and pins Bálor narrowly retaining the gold which enraged McIntyre who goes on a rampage at ringside.
Clash at the Castle 2023
Drew McIntyre vs Seth Rollins(c): World Heavyweight Championship
As you’d expect, this match is a certified banger. While Rollins does great as usual, McIntyre is on a whole different level. Rollins goes for a springboard knee but McIntyre catches him in mid-air with a Claymore but he doesn’t go for the pin, instead picking up Rollins and hitting a Future Shock DDT. One year after falling to Roman Reigns, Drew FINALLY gets his moment in front of the fans. Despite being a heel, McIntyre but still celebrates the W like an emotional babyface.
Crown Jewel 2023
*Drew McIntyre(c) vs Shinsuke Nakamura: World Heavyweight Championship
On Raw, Shinsuke Nakamura triumphs in a #1 contenders battle royal. Champion McIntyre, dismissing Nakamura as past his prime, attempts a Claymore sneak attack but Nakamura artfully dodges and counters with his own Claymore.
Understanding this might be his final shot at WWE glory, Nakamura gives everything in his duel with McIntyre. The match is a thrilling, hard-hitting spectacle with Nakamura nearly snatching the title. But McIntyre, resilient and fierce, lands a second Claymore, securing his victory. Post-match, McIntyre brutally traps Nakamura's head between the ring post and steps, aiming for a final Claymore. It's then when old rival and friend Sami Zayn confronts the champion.
Survivor Series 2023
Drew McIntyre(c) vs Sami Zayn: World Heavyweight Championship
We get McIntyre some real heat by going after one of the biggest babyfaces on the roster. When Sami makes his entrance, McIntyre attacks him from behind, bashing him into the ringpost busting him open. Despite doctors telling Zayn to forfeit the match, he refuses and fights valiantly and even nails a Helluva Kick nearly winning the title but the loss of blood wears Zayn down and he manages to nail him with a Claymore to retain the title once again.
Royal Rumble 2024
Drew McIntyre(c) vs Kevin Owens: Falls Count Anywhere for the World Heavyweight Championship
Kevin Owens is up next as he wants to avenge his fallen friend. Drew calls Kevin a hypocrite for after all these years standing up for Sami now. Owens took years off of Sami’s career reminding him of putting Sami on the shelf back in NXT. Kevin says that he wants to make things right, he’ll no longer put championships above those closest to him and instead he’ll win them for those he cares about. KO wants blood and he challenges Drew to a Last Man Standing Match at Royal Rumble.
This match goes over 20 minutes and it is a brutal affair. We see all types of weapons including a reverse Alabama slam from McIntyre through the announce table. But that’s not enough to put KO away, and he starts taking the fight right back to McIntyre. KO hits a powerbomb on Drew in the stage area and he does the unthinkable. He climbs the tron and goes for a massive frog splash off the tron but Drew manages to move out of the way in just the nick of time. Drew McIntyre narrowly retains the World Heavyweight Championship.
Elsewhere on the card, Gunther does what he failed to do last year and he manages to win the 2024 Royal Rumble from the #1 spot.
Elimination Chamber 2023
Men’s Elimination Chamber Match
Drew McIntyre steps into the Elimination Chamber first, defending his title amidst steel and danger. He battles past Seth Rollins, Finn Bálor, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Damien Priest, one after another. The final hurdle, Ricochet, pushes McIntyre to the brink, almost clinching an upset. Despite his successful defense, exhaustion begins to show on McIntyre's face showing more cracks in the armor.
WrestleMania 40
Drew McIntyre(c) vs Gunther(c): Intercontinental & World Heavyweight Championship
Over the past six months, Drew McIntyre, Raw's reigning terror, begins to show signs of wear. His sternest test lies ahead - Intercontinental Champion, Gunther. Sheamus steps into Raw, intent on realigning Drew's compass. He admonishes Drew, reminding him of his blind ambition turning him monstrous, mirroring Sheamus's own past where his ruthless drive for recognition cost careers and left him just another face in the crowd. These words resonate, sparking a change in McIntyre as he transitions towards becoming a face and gears up for his colossal defense against “The Ring General.”
The two main event Night One of WM 40. Gunther & McIntyre have a huge hard hitting match. They light the hell out of each other with chops. But at the end, Gunther proves too much for true hitting a Last Symphony from the top rope to win his first World Championship in WWE.

2023.06.04 04:42 RollsRoyceGoBrrrrrrt Anyone who has bought a new challenger in recent years and negotiated the sticker price.

Hello everyone on the sub. I went to my local Dodge dealership today because my 2011 Chrysler 200, despite having ran flawlessly for the most part in the last 12 years, suffered a crack somewhere in the head gasket gasket or cylinder, and my mechanic advised me it’s not worth fixing. I’m just using the car as of now to drive around town and run my errands and what not.
I test drove a Challenger GT today and I really enjoyed it. The only thing making me hesitant is it’s a little pricier than I was hoping, with everything included about 52,250. For anyone who’s purchased a new car from Dodge in the last couple years, did any of you guys have any luck trying to knock a little bit off the asking price? I’m not trying to be cheap, I know you can’t go in there and talk them down a large amount, just trying to see what any of you guys experienced in the pre-purchase process.
Any stories or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all and have a great rest of your day/night.

2023.06.04 04:28 chbmg Easy Fixes To Make Survivors and Demons Happy – Saber, Please Read

NOTE: This is a very long post. There’s a tl;dr summary at the bottom
This is coming from a long-time lurker, first time poster, and an Evil Dead fan for decades. For background, I have previous game dev experience, including Unity and Unreal, so I’m (mostly) not talking out my ass, and I've played both sides of this game roughly equally for more hours than I’d care to admit (primarily solo q, sometimes survivor with friends, and otherwise just playing demon when survivor queue times are high, as they have been many times since release). Usually, I just play whichever side has the lowest queue time.
Despite its flaws, this has been one of my favorite games of all time. The original development team was clearly passionate about the Evil Dead. The art, audio, and overall atmosphere are excellent and have superb attention to detail. I love all the random chatter from my survivor, the feeling of rushing through the woods as the Kandarian demon, and the intensity of a close game regardless of who wins. However, most of us would agree that this game has been held back by very poor "balancing" patches since release, as evidenced by polls on this subreddit confirming it is indeed the most frustrating problem.
We've endured shemps duping, brokenly OP characters, fear looping, and many other game-breaking exploits throughout. Bugs can be tolerable and are even to be expected, but the "fixes" almost always cause new issues and take far too long. It is painfully obvious that there has been very little time or effort expended on these issues by the post-release support team. Some patches have been so bad that they shouldn’t even make it to QA, let alone production – I’d be ashamed, esp. given that some of these issues can be fully and precisely patched in a few lines of code. I don’t need to see the source code to know that – even a rat’s nest of blueprints and disorganized C++ code can’t justify it.
I can only hope the skeleton crew that's continuing support for this game will take a few hours to address these issues. More importantly, I hope someone higher-up will recognize that this game still has millions of copies floating around and a lot more opportunities for profit, so it’s worth it to invest just a little time/thought into balance to keep new players and veterans happy. Frankly, each issue could be hammered out in minutes by someone familiar with the codebase, but I know it takes some time for building and testing across multiple platforms - days is fine, weeks/months is insane, esp. given the current state of the game.
I think it is important to first precisely define how the game is unbalanced, and how this imbalance can ruin the fun of many matches. Based on previous posts and my own personal experiences playing with friends and family at various skill levels, the following pattern becomes clear:
3+ Bad/Low-Level Survivors – Essentially 99% Demon Win
2+ Bad Survivors, All Others Decent to Excellent – Heavily demon-sided (~90% Demon Win)
1+ Bad Survivor, All Others Decent to Excellent – Somewhat demon-sided (~70% Demon Win)
All Survivors Decent, Not Very Cooperative/Sharing – About Equal (~50/50 on Win)
All Survivors Decent, Mostly Cooperative – Somewhat survivors-sided (~70% Survivor Win)
All Survivors with Good Skills/Teamwork/Knowledge – Heavily survivors-sided (~90% Survivor Win)
All Survivors with Excellent Skills/Teamwork/Knowledge – Essentially 99% Survivors Win
Note: Skills/teamwork/knowledge are not necessarily related to prestige level nor gameplay style, though usually survivors with prestige levels have stuck with the game long enough to at least be “decent” (even if they’re still not perfectly cooperative/sharing/etc.). This pattern is only somewhat altered by the demon’s skill level – new/low-level demons skew much more to higher survivor win rates in every scenario, and excellent high-level/prestige demons playing the current “meta” demon skew toward higher demon win rates. Any level 45+ demon that’s decent to good and usually plays non-meta demons like the current versions of Warlord or Necro (that’s me) will likely not skew these results.
I believe my personal experience is a microcosm of the overall balancing issue, and we’ve seen posts on this subreddit that consistently confirm the above pattern. It should be painfully obvious by now to anyone who’s played both sides long enough, and it should also be even more painfully obvious to any developers/publishers pouring over analytics data for the game. What adds insult to injury is that, at the more extreme ends of the pattern, a lot of toxicity emerges. Many survivors go into flashlight-clicky mode when they have the upper hand, and many demons retaliate by dancing with possessions over corpses or other means, whether it’s in the current match or against some innocent victims in the next match (I’ve sometimes been guilty too – I usually just take a break when toxic matches get to me and I turn toxic, but I’m truly sorry to anyone who’s had to deal with any of this crap from me)
Anyway, what will happen if the above pattern continues over time? Well, newer players who are consistently getting absolutely destroyed and possibly taunted at the same time (as either survivor or demon) will either (a) quit the game, or (b) get better. Now, run through that scenario while looking at the pattern and assume the game remains roughly in the current state. There will be more and more new/”bad” survivors quitting the game entirely, and a smaller portion that will only stick with the game if they level up and “git gud” over many hours (becoming good to excellent players). The same thing will happen to demon players. What happens when all we have left are good to excellent survivors and good to excellent demons? Well, check the chart again. Every match will be at least heavily survivor-sided if not a guaranteed win. Survivors get bored, even most masochistic veteran demon players give up, queue times for survivors reach new heights, and the game “dies.” This sequence of events has happened at various times in the game’s lifecycle, but I fear it’s headed toward extremes that will eventually make the game unplayable.
Obviously, it’s no fun to win virtually every time and it’s no fun to lose almost every time. Competitive games are most fun when you have close matches – ideally, there’d be a win rate of about 50% for either side. “But wait,” you say, “the pattern above indicates that there already IS a roughly 50/50 balance for that scenario!” And yes, that’s true. But how many matches are actually like that? How many matches have you personally played that felt close and competitive the whole time? It certainly wasn’t common when we had strong SBMM, and it isn’t common without SBMM either. Why? Because players who stick with the absolutely brutal intro to this game today are almost guaranteed to at least become good/high-level players with solid game mechanics/knowledge (though some will still become toxic/uncooperative teammates or toxic demons). Those who don’t become competent players are virtually guaranteed to quit in frustration, some after just the first several matches where they are either getting consistently annihilated by all the veterans, or clearly being “allowed” to win if the other side takes pity. In essence, the game is just plain brutal for HOURS on end for newer players and can become stale for solid veteran players. For veterans, we have survivors who team up with 3 other veterans (boring due to easy wins, low challenge), demons who can only win by repetitively attacking an inanimate stationary book (boring due to minimal ability to challenge survivors throughout match), or demons who see 2+ bad survivors and have to decide whether to let them win or immediately stomp them to move on (both of which can be boring due to low challenge, and frankly feel bad if harassing beginners). I absolutely LOVE any close matches, win or lose, but they are unfortunately exceptionally rare.
Clearly, the goal of balancing patches should be to make as many matches as close as possible. How? Well, it’s very simple – give beginners a chance and give veterans a challenge. Specifically, force or incentivize gameplay that elevates beginners, challenges veterans, prevents toxicity, and basically “evens the playing field” so that the chart above reads more like “20% through 80%” win rates for survivors rather than 1% through 99%. Thus, the fixes below mostly take aim at mechanics that are abused by veterans of the game or seek to better prepare beginners. Additionally, nearly each of the fixes below can be implemented with the equivalent of just a few lines of code.
I fully believe that this game can achieve a decent balance as a 4v1 asymm. It only seems impossible because the patches for balancing have often failed to address root causes and/or caused new issues. The game can be more welcoming for newcomers (both survivors and demons alike) while still having a lot of the same learning curves and leveling systems to reward higher level play without it becoming outright oppressive to either side.
Anyway, based on a lot of previous posts and my own observations, here are some easy fixes for the next patch:
1. Revert demon traps to their previous behavior (i.e. make it so possessed survivors can be walked into a trap) and fix the fear looping mechanic for SchemeBaal specifically
The latest "fix" for this had a workaround from the community within hours to fear loop survivors anyway and nerfed all other demons for no reason.
This can be easily resolved by reverting to the previous code/blueprints/whatever (or hell, going back to the previous build if necessary), and then implementing a simple solution for Schemer. This solution requires a scalpel, not a sledgehammer, so it should apply ONLY to Schemer. I can think of two easy possibilities, either of which would only need a few lines of code.
First possibility: If a survivor has set off a trap that was set by using the Schemer's special ability, then that trap now has a normal cool down and cannot be "reset" again by Schemer's current use of the special ability. This would allow Schemer to set a trap manually, possess a survivor, run them into it, get the trap reset immediately by their special ability, but then only run the survivor into the same trap a 2nd time. Thus, Schemer would still be the demon associated with traps and fear, but wouldn't be able to loop a survivor in one spot endlessly. A survivor that's slightly separated wouldn't necessarily immediately die, but a demon could still down a lone wolf by harassing, lowering health, raising fear, and then doing this method.
Second possibility: The trap setting special ability of Schemer could be disabled when Schemer possesses a survivor. This may nerf Schemer specifically a tad bit too heavily, but is still a far better fix than what we've got. It's also super easy to program with something like the following pseudocode:
If (demon.ability == true && demon.name == "Schemer" && demon.possessing == true)
demon.ability = false;
2. Implement a stamina cost for vaulting windows/railings (e.g. the stamina cost could be the same as dodging)
This helps keep gameplay fair for both sides. It's clearly unfair and unfun to have a demon that can easily fear loop a survivor to death even if their teammates aren't far away, and the same holds true for a survivor that can "loop" a demon and never die. Survivors can still use objects, dodges, and other means to postpone death if they're alone (as I've done myself and seen done as demon) but it's at least possible for a demon to get in an occasional hit and whittle down health (i.e. it cannot be done indefinitely, at least if vaulting also uses stamina). Alternatively, at least give demons the ability to vault all the same objects as survivors, such as railings, so a 1v1 chase is fair – it just doesn’t feel great when a survivor jumps over a porch railing and looks back to flashlight click your possessed unit, knowing that there’s somehow zero threat in this 1v1 encounter in a 4v1 game due to a simple exploit. Personally, I think just adding a stamina cost would be fine to try at least, and many others in this community seem to agree. Plus, it should again only be a few lines of code to adjust the stamina bavariable of a survivor whenever he/she vaults.
3. Edit the text for the "hints" when a match is loading. There are absolutely no CLEAR tips about giving the right resources to the right players, nor hints about any newer demons (i.e. the hints have never been updated)
Regardless of which side we've played, we all know solo q for survivors is a total crap shoot. None of us started playing this game knowing that we should be gathering supplies for ourselves AND our teammates, dropping shemps for support, dropping ammo for hunters, etc. Many players quit before learning these things and there is no in game explanation for them (besides one single vague tip I can remember about how you can share resources with teammates, but no clear indication of sharing based on class).
I think the lack of instructions for basic team play is one of the major causes of low player retention for the game. The tutorials are helpful for basic controls, but there needs be a lot more emphasis on the basics of this game that many of us on this subreddit take for granted.
I’d start by making sure the following tip text is the first to be shown to all players for a few matches after this is patched in:
“Stay close to your teammates and focus on the current objective to survive. Going off to loot alone is very dangerous”
(yes, veteran players can often get away with this, but man, it feels terrible playing on either side and watching someone just wander off to loot the whole game)
The other tips could be a lot more direct:
“Players should stay within the blue aura of leaders whenever possible to get additional buffs”
“Warriors should generally be given the best melee weapons but do little ranged damage”
“Hunters should generally be given the best ranged weapons but do little melee damage. Drop ammo for them if they ask”
“Support players are generally weakest, but can heal or shield all their teammates by using shemps and amulets near them. Drop spare shemps for support”
Now, the above “tip texts” at the loading menu are super quick and easy to add to the game. However, if the developers would like to go a little above and beyond, it would be amazing to add some additional text boxes within the game to warn players about bad choices. For example, there could be blinking text in the center bottom half of the screen for awhile if you’re carrying another survivor’s specialty weapon and they don’t have one (or if yours is a higher rarity). Also, there could be similar warning text that you’ve wondered more than, say, 100m from your team. Again, just trying to give simple, clear instructions to beginners (and those that are somehow still selfishly playing after reaching level 25+). And yeah, there are always arguments and exceptions to be made about how to play optimally, but some updated/clear tips could go a long way.
4. Implement a bonus XP on the results screen after a match is over that gives each side a bonus based on how many points the other side gained. Also, fix demon leveling based on survivodemon level
This one sounds a little weird and complicated, but it's really not. What I'm saying here is that veteran survivors should be rewarded for taking it easy on a baby demon, and a veteran demon should be rewarded for taking it easy on baby survivors.
Basically, regardless of which side you play or if you win or lose, I believe you should get a bonus XP based on how the other side did. For example, let's say you're a veteran pup player that gets matched to novice survivors and down them all with a power possessed basic before they even get the first map piece. In this case, those survivors will have very little points after the match (maybe even under 1000 per person) and the demon should get no bonus reward. The survivors here should at least get a bonus for enduring the slaughter and staying in the match. Let's say the demon takes it easy on them though, let's them progress, maybe even just throws AI at them (hell, I've personally spawned a boss and walked them to good crates when they're clearly new and can barely take on bots). Let's say they get 10k points per player this way - the demon now gets bonus XP for good behavior.
I'd say that there should be a bonus XP for each player if the other side reaches a certain point threshold, say 30k, or if the survivors are wiped before first objective (as in, survivors get a bonus for enduring such a match and demon gets no bonus). This would help discourage immediately stomping new players and help retain them (remember everyone, this game will die if it's just a few hardcore people with long queue times all doing cheesy strats and stomping anyone who dares try joining as a newbie).
Anyway, in psuedocode, something like this could work:
If (survivor.totalscore >= 30000)
demon.bonusxp = 3000;
If (demon.totalscore >= 30000)
survivor.bonusxp = 3000;
[Loop thru survivors to apply bonus to each - obviously, these values can be tweaked]
Obviously, you may have survivors or demons who go AFK and then it may make it impossible for the other side to get a bonus. Therefore, there could also be some basic code for checking if someone is AFK (i.e. hasn’t not moved more than a certain small distance in a decent amount of time, hasn’t set a trap or possessed anything in a certain time, etc.). Frankly, I have no idea how we still don’t have AFK checks – just about any other online game I’ve ever played automatically disconnects you if you’re not playing.
As a bonus idea to this bonus idea, you could also cancel ALL XP points for a player for a round in which he/she is toxic, such as a check for repetitive flashlight clicking. I find this irritating whether I'm a survivor or a demon (and I def didn't deserve a bunch of XP the few times I've been guilty of it when I felt a demon was being toxic). I don't think there's an easy way to detect all toxic demon behavior with code, but it would be trivial to keep track of flashlight clicking in code. Maybe if a demon is "hovering" (dancing) directly over a dead body too long with a possessed unit or survivor, then they also have their XP completely canceled for the round - that would also be easy to check via code. The key to promoting good, non-toxic behavior would be to implement these checks without specifying precisely how many flashlight clicks count or how long dancing over a corpse counts – just note that specific toxic behavior will result in zero XP for the round for the offender and automate it in code.
Finally, as another incentive for fair play, the leveling up of demons should be dependent on the level of the survivors they are harassing AND on the demon’s current skill tree level. In other words, there should be modifiers so that new, low-level demons get leveled up more by the same actions as high-level demons, such as downing a player, and there should also be modifiers so that high-level demons cannot get leveled up as much by harassing low-level survivors, such as constantly downing a newbie, but can get slightly more leveled up by downing a high-level survivor. This goes back to the idea of elevating beginners and challenging veterans, esp. since it’s incredibly frustrating to be constantly singled out as a brand-new survivor. This could be something like:
Lvl 1-24: x1.5 for demon leveling up
Lvl 25-44: x1.3 for demon leveling up
Lvl 45: x1.1 for demon leveling up
P1+: x1.0 for demon leveling up
Survivor (being attacked, hitting traps, or otherwise affected by demon):
Lvl 1-24: x0.5 for demon leveling up
Lvl 25: x1.0 for demon leveling up
P1+: x1.1 for demon leveling up
Specific examples:
Lvl 10 demon somehow downs a P3 survivor – demon levels up 1.5 x 1.1 = 1.65 times as much as now
Lvl 45 demon downs a Lvl 4 survivor – demon only levels up 1.1 x 0.5 = 0.55 times as much as now
P5 demon downs a P5 survivor – demon levels up 1.0 x 1.1 = 1.1 times as much as now
5. Disable the ability to start both the dagger and pages objectives at the same time
This "split cap" method is usually only used by high-level teams and can be almost impossible to counter by anyone who isn't a very experienced demon, at least on certain maps or when these objectives are at certain locations. I've managed to counter it myself most of the time as demon, but it can be very hard to deal with, esp. given that survivors are resurrected after either objective finishes. Depending on the map and RNG (esp. light sources at objectives and other variables), it can be impossible to counter.
Basically, if the timer is running on either objective, it should be impossible to start the other objective. This still allows creative play by high-level coordinated teams (e.g. maybe Pablo hides at the next objective waiting to kick it off immediately while waiting for others to race there by car). It also feels a lot more fair, particularly to less experienced demons.
Again, this could be fixed in just a couple lines of code. Literally, just check if a timer is running for daggepages and if so, don’t allow interaction with the other objective.
6. Add a call out in the in-game communication wheel to say "demon is on me” or “I need help” for survivors
We know from polls on this sub that most people are dropping into solo q most of the time (I’m sure Saber’s own analytics could prove this too). Also, many people don't have or don't want to use a headset. These are just common facts for most online games.
I know some people have resorted to using the "need matchsticks" chat option to indicate they're being attacked by a possessed unit but this is frankly absurd. We need a simple chat option for survivors for this. Honestly, if the text for “I need matchsticks” were simply replaced with “I need help!”, I'd be satisfied because I often need help fending off a possessed unit or boss a lot more than I need matchsticks in solo q.
This should be easy to add to the game (it’s more than a few lines of code and would require minor image/text adjustments and possibly kicking off existing voice lines, but should still be doable). I’m pretty sure that most characters already have a voice line recorded that could work (I picture Scotty already literally saying “I need help”) and if not, we’ve already been shown that voice lines don’t really have to match their context anyway (I picture Mia saying “fire’s lit. Anybody needs fire, it’s here” when turning on her flashlight – so hell, just make that what she says when she uses “I need help” on the wheel – we’ve already accepted she’s crazy anyway and the text would be clear at least).
7. Keep car possessions consistent on all maps. Demons either can't possess them until they "spawn" when survivors are near (like Castle Kandar) or they can possess them at any time anywhere
Personally, I think that it should only be possible to possess cars when survivors have "spawned" them by being close to them like on the Kandar map. The method of flipping all cars on a map at the start of a match is generally only used by a few high MMR demons and feels cheesy to me (I also feel it's cheesy to drive 3 cars to each objective, but cars are always going to be divisive and they can also be used to cause a lot of damage at objectives at least).
I think car possession should've followed the lore of AvED, kept survivors inside, and done something different like having both driver and demon fighting for control of the vehicle, like maybe survivor controls keep randomly reversing while demon controls it normally and the driver tries to counter the demon driving until infernal energy runs out - survivors take a little damage whenever the car crashes. However, this idea is complex, so I'll stick to easy fixes.
No matter what, it just seems like the ability to possess cars should be consistent across all maps and it should be easy to implement, esp. since there's already code/logic for the two scenarios.
8. Add a single menu option at the main menu when choosing a game mode to select "random"
This could immensely help queue times. I know there are others like me who just want to play and don't care about whether they're survivor or demon.
This may take a tiny bit more work to implement than some of the pieces above (e.g. need a little artwork for the button, menu programming, some matchmaking programming, etc.) but it would help queue times, which have been problematic at various times in this game's life cycle.
9. Adjust RNG based on the overall levels of survivors
Again, this goes back to elevating beginners and challenging veterans. I’ve been in too many games with all prestige survivors that can split up and loot a large portion of the map without fear of consequence until each character has his/her own purple/gold specialty weapon (which also goes back to looping/vaulting endlessly and depends on map, demon character, etc.) – those games are a wash for demon. On the other hand, I’ve been in too many solo q matches where people are bringing grey weapons to defend the book and hobbling in without shemps knowing it’s just a slaughter. I’d really like to be in more balanced matches where veteran teams don’t all have perfect weapons for an easy win, and novice players don’t all hobble around with garbage for a guaranteed loss.
As a simple fix, it would make sense to simply increase the odds of chests being purple/gold if 2 or more survivors are under P1, and decrease those same odds if all survivors are P1 or above (in all other cases, odds can remain the same). And yeah, I know prestige does not perfectly equal pure skill, but odds are you’re at least “decent” at the game if you’ve made it that far (if not good or excellent). This RNG adjustment for chests could be multiplied by whatever Ed brings to the table. For example, if the decrease for all prestige players is to have 0.75x the amount of purple/gold chests and the increase Ed brings is 1.5x, then there would still be slightly more purple/gold chests on the map than normal even for all prestige players (and a lot more good chests for new players, who definitely could use the boost).
10. Give out more XP/SP – we need more double XP/SP events and there should be a bonus given to any low-level players (say, anyone who hasn’t gotten a single character to P1) to get and retain new players
This last point shouldn’t need much explanation. The community obviously overwhelming voted to have more double XP/SP events. It would take such an incredible number of hours to P5 every single character that I’d imagine only those who have literally played non-stop for thousands of hours since release could have done it already. For some, like me, who only took a brief hiatus from the game since release, it feels like a herculean task to even get 1 or 2 characters to P5 on either side. Such events literally help with balance by elevating beginners and they also give a reason for veterans to return. Queue times were noticeably lower during the last event, even though it was poorly announced, clearly timed to try and mess with TCM (which is just a bad look, esp. since there was nothing for this game’s own anniversary), and wasn’t even VISIBLE in the game menus. Despite all this, it was still a success. Saber, unless you’re actively trying to eliminate your player base, it makes no sense to not do these regularly. And since you timed it to try to pull attention away from TCM, it would seem as though you want to retain players (or you’re just petty, but I’m guessing you’re more motivated by profits than such emotional considerations).
Anyway, more XP/SP please. Also, please put some kind of indication that an event is planned and/or is actively occurring in your game. I mean, it could literally be a freaking sprite on the main menu screen with some text announcing a double XP event and the duration – this is really basic stuff.
Finally, I don’t think anyone here would argue with giving away a large number of spirit points to every newish player the next time they open the game. I think a one-time bonus of at least 100K would be very reasonable for anyone who has not reached P1 for any character. I personally know several people IRL who would be back to playing the game if this were done (and almost certainly give you money for DLC when they get a chance to actually enjoy the game in a semi-competitive way) – these people just don’t have the time or patience to grind through hours of straight losses to even have a chance.
Closing thoughts:
I know there are a lot of other great ideas from the community on future content for the game (maps, characters, etc.) so I've just tried to stick to simple, easy to implement fixes for the developers.
Saber, this game could still generate a lot of (mostly passive) revenue if you support it well. There are many of us who are ready to throw money at any random DLC or cosmetic (myself included as a huge Evil Dead fan). However, the fans will only stick around to throw money at the game if the basic fundamental gameplay is somewhat balanced and glaring exploits/bugs are addressed. Seriously, if it's tweaked to feel good to play either side without major exploits being used by anyone, I (and many others) would keep throwing money at literal outfit accessories that could be crafted by a single 3d artist - it should more than pay for servers and labor, at which point you're just watching the money roll in.
Anyway, I've tried to stick to easy fixes that could improve the game for both novices and veterans. It would be easy to just say "buff the other side" whenever queue times are long for one side. At this time, it's obvious that average to excellent demon players are at a disadvantage when compared to equally skilled survivor players (as evidenced by queue times). I also remember times when demon queue times were long and I just played survivor because a certain demon was overturned or using cheesy exploits, so more people wanted to play demon.
However, I've been honestly sad that playing either side has just not felt good lately. It doesn't feel good to sit in a long queue for survivor, and it definitely doesn't feel good to crush noobs or get crushed by full prestige teams on coms. I can count on one hand the number of fun/close matches I’ve played in the last several dozen – I’d love to play more like those. Even if none of the changes above happen, I'd at least enjoy receiving some love for the older demons so they're at least fun to play and a challenge to go against (Plaguebringer Witch getting her original movement speed back, Necro and Warlord getting some minor buffs in any areas since they're pretty universally considered weak right now, etc.) – I mention these buffs in case you want to fall back on the tired old “just buff the other side” method.
Saber, please implement some quick and easy fixes for this game . Even if you're just in it for the money at this point, I'm literally here wanting to throw more money at this game, but only if some basic balancing changes are made. If the next patch surgically tweaks some major pain points rather than bludgeoning fundamental gameplay elements, then I'll be here waiting to throw money at any random DLC you've got. Otherwise, I'll sadly have to find another game (as many others have or will, given the overall sentiments after this latest patch and some patches before it). You can still turn the ship around - you have 3 million copies of this game floating around. That's literally millions of fans who likely want to return to the game and throw money at DLCs if the gameplay experience is fun. It's up to you now.
Tl;dr Summary:
The game can be balanced by elevating novices and challenging veterans. Here’s how…
  1. Revert demon traps to their previous behavior (i.e. make it so possessed survivors can be walked into a trap) and ACTUALLY fix Baal specifically
  2. Make vaulting cost stamina
  3. Edit/create hints for new players at the match loading screen that are clear and direct
  4. Give out a bonus XP for "good behavior" (not demolishing newbies), cancel XP for “toxic behavior” (flashlight clicking as survivor, dancing on corpses as demon), level up demon based on levels of victims
  5. Do not allow dagger and pages objectives to run simultaneously
  6. Add a call out in the in-game communication wheel to say "I need help" for survivors
  7. Keep car possession rules consistent on all maps
  8. Add a "random side" menu option to be able to play either survivor or demon, whichever happens to get matched first
  9. Adjust chest rarity RNG based on the overall level of survivors
  10. More XP/SP events. Also, give a bonus 100K+ SP to anyone with zero prestige characters

2023.06.04 04:20 Double_Ad_6934 a Short Fanfiction story I did.

After defeating that bleeding eyed furry in a rap battle it crushed its mic then rushed Boyfriend who was grabbed by his shirt collar staring down on his wide gaping mouth.
Girlfriend acted fast and fired a dark ball at the furry knocking Boyfriend out of his grasp.
Sonic.EXE was hurt and stunned for a few moments because this is his domain, he is god here no one will make a fool out of him! Sonic.EXE called upon hi slaves to help him in case his something does not go as plan.

Boyfriend and Girlfriend have already walked away without a care in the world until Sonic.EXE appeared in front of them with his arms raised in a pouncing manner, though the two just looked at him with a disapproving look on there faces.
Sonic.EXE tried grabbing the young man but fell short because of a very powerful barrier protecting him. Seeing as he was not making any progress he smiled and challenged Boyfriend once more.

He lost again then he looked to see the two laughing at him! Sonic.EXE could not take this humiliation anymore! He roared in frustration sending Boyfriend into a dimension where he can deal with him alone.
Now transformed into his true form Xenophanes he let his slaves deal with him first.
Boyfriend found himself in a dark forest where right in front of him seem to be a gray fox with no tail and big red eye, there was no mouth on it ether.
It charged at him but BF dodged out of the way, ran up behind the fox and tied his mic around its neck then he pulled until his head came off.
Xeno was not pleased to see his favorite slave tails dispatched so easily so he sent the next one,
Boyfriend was teleported to another area but this time, with a red hedgehog looking thing with no eyes, missing one of its arms, and melted on one side of its face with a permeant but melted grin on its face.
Knuckles rushed at BF trying to hit him with a flurry of punches but BF was used to street brawls so dodging was easy. None of Knuckles rapid fire punches hit the mark so Knuckles tried to for one strong straight punch but was countered by BF knocking his already decayed head off his shoulders.
Another one down and Xeno has had enough he did not bring out his last slave as he was useless without his arms. So he confronted the little shit stain himself.
Yet another time he has been teleported and Boyfriend was now fed up, there in front of him appeared Xenophanes in all his purple crystalized glory.
Boyfriend approached Xenophanes slowly as he heard his laughter then he said, "There is nowhere to run and there is nowhere to hide for I am God of this domain!" Xenophanes tried to sow fear into Boyfriend to no avail as Boyfriend responded. "Good for you but uh... When can I get back to my Girlfriend?
Never!" Xenophanes laughed. You will never live to see your partner ever again! He laughed harder.
Hearing this BF rushed, tackled and knocked Xeno onto the ground where he mounted him and kept punching his face repeatedly. Xenophanes was bleeding from his mouth, his nose was bent and gotten black eyes. He tried to grab BF with both his arms for BF to grab his spindly arms and tie them into a neat bow that he can't untie his hands from. BF got off of him stomping on his stomach five times then grabbed his legs.
Xenophanes panicked telling him not to do it to no avail as Boyfriend broke his legs in four places.
"Can I go back to my girlfriend now?"
Completely wracked with pain and his limbs bent in ways though impossible, Xenophanes had no other choice than to comply.
For the first time he has been bested by a human out of all things.
Xenophanes teleported Boyfriend out and back to his Girlfriend.
After hearing from BF that he could not kill him she decided to give it a try.
Xenophanes legs and face regenerated but no matter how he tried, he could not untie his arms. He kept trying until he felt a presence beside him.
Girlfriend without warning, blasted Xenophanes leaving nothing but his shoes on the ground. She waited to see if he would come back for nothing to happen for one minute.
Satisfied she went back to Boyfriend and teleported them both out of his nightmare dimension.

2023.06.04 03:57 Wavy77777 Top 20 songs 2014-2023 (subjective rankings)

Let's make a list for the last 10 Years!
So I wanted to look at the last ten contests to draw out the essence from those shows, or at least what was the most enjoyable moments for me personally. At first I thought it was too big of a task to make one big mega ranking, giving points all over again to songs I've almost forgotten, but then I decided to do this a little methodically, so it became a little more doable. So first thing, I had to listen to all the songs. Or maybe not all songs, that would take weeks, but let's at least do the short version: recaps.
My first task was to watch recaps from all shows to remember what songs were worthy and who was not good enough for such a list. I nominated X amount of songs from each year, depending on the quality of the songs. Then I ended up with 94 songs. The spread per year was as follows: 2014: 7 songs, 2015: 14 songs, 2016: 4 songs, 2017: 13 songs, 2018: 7 songs, 2019: 7 songs, 2020: 13 songs, 2021: 8 songs, 2022: 11 songs, 2023: 10 songs. Please note that since there was no contest in 2020 I was less familiar with these songs, so I had a lower threshold for nominating songs from this year. Also the number of songs nominated doesn't necessarily reflect my overall ranking of that contest as a whole.

Giving points
After finding what songs was nominated I watched each and every song (that I had nominated) once again in its entirety, then giving a somewhat honest score of how much I enjoy the song now. I used a 1-20 score, meaning I had more increments than I normally do when I score Eurovision songs on a 1-12 (-9&11) scale. That was to be able to make more distinctions between songs that were close to another, avoiding too many "point lumps". I also tried to avoid influence from how I initially rated the songs when they were released. I was actually quite happy to see that I both rated some songs higher and lower than what I did initially, meaning that my opinion on a song can change over time. I even found myself rating songs from 2023 different than how I rated them just a couple weeks ago. As for versions, I always try to find the best version, whether it's the music video, national final, semi final or grand final version. The lowest I ranked any song in this ranking was 9 points. Any song lower than that would not be able to make the nomination. Again most of the lower ranked songs was from 2020, since that was the year least familiar to me, with the most amount of songs falling outside my quality criteria. The average amount of points was 13,7. The median was actually right between 13 and 14. The spread was as follows: 9 points: 2 entries, 10 points: 4 entries, 11 points: 4 entries, 12 points: 12 entries, 13 points: 24 entries, 14 points: 17 entries, 15 points: 13 entries, 16 points: 9 entries, 17 points: 4 entries, 18 points: 3 entries, 19 points: 1 entry, 20 points: 1 entry
Fine tuning
Since this was about finding a top 20 list I then went back on all the songs I put up around 15-20 points and tried to split hairs between the different songs I had listed that high. This was the most enjoyable part, since the songs up there are so good, but it's also so difficult to distinguish different types of songs when you have a ballad, a medium tempo bop, an industrial techno song and a singer song writer folk song. I did end up with a list I feel good about though, so I will list it below from number 1-20 with a small text to why I like each song. I first make the list, then write a text to each below the list.
The List
  1. Belgium 2017, Blanche - City Lights, 20 points
  2. Estonia 2015, Elina Born and Stig Rästa - Goodbye to Yesterday, 19 points
  3. Azerbaijan 2021, Efendi - Mata Hari, 18 points
  4. Slovenia 2015, Maraaya - Here for You, 18 points
  5. Serbia 2022, Konstrakta - In Corpore Sano, 18 points
  6. Sweden 2014, Sanna Nielsen - Undo. 17 points
  7. Iceland 2019, Hatari - Hatrið mun sigra , 17 points
  8. Azerbaijan 2017, Dihaj - Skeletons, 17 points
  9. Montenegro 2015, Knez - Adio, 17 points
  10. Czechia 2023, Vesna - My Sister's Crown, 16 points
  11. Italy 2015, Il Volo - Grande Amore, 16 points
  12. Norway 2019, Keiino - Spirit in the Sky 16 points
  13. Estonia 2017, Koit Toome and Laura - Verona, 16 points
  14. Bulgaria 2016, Poli Genova - If Love was a Crime, 16 points
  15. Portugal 2017, Salvador Sobral - Amor pelos dois, 16 points
  16. Cyprus 2022, Andromache - Ela, 16 points
  17. Ukraine 2021, Go_A - Shum, 16 points
  18. Georgia 2015, Nina Sublatti - Warrior, 15 points
  19. Austria 2016, Zoë - Loin d'Ici, 15 points
  20. Spain 2015, Edurne - Amanecer, 15 points

Other songs that almost made the list: (Sweden 2022 Cornelia Jakobs-Hold me closer), (Ukraine 2016 Jamala-1944), (Denmark 2018 Rasmussen-Higher Ground),(Moldova 2020 Natalia Gordienko-Prison), (France 2022 Alvan and Ahez-Fulenn),(The Netherlands 2022 S10-De Diepte),(Finland 2023 Käärija-Cha Cha Cha), (Georgia 2023 Iru-Echo),(Latvia 2023 Sudden Lights-Aija),(Norway 2023 Alessandra-Queen of the Kings), (Spain 2023 Blanca Paloma-Eaea), (Ireland 2015 Molly Sterling-Playing with numbers), (Armenia 2017 Artsvik, Fly with me)
About each song
  1. Blanche-City Lights. It was actually quite easy for me to put this on top, and it was the song I was the most sure about. I consider this song pure pop magic. Blanche's dark toned down vocals to the dark minor chords and the effective beat in a sort minimalist electro production is so effective on so many levels I don't know where to begin. I have listened to some of the other songs she has released after Eurovision, and she is a really gifted musician.
  2. Elina Born and Stig Rästa-Goodbye to Yesterday. This almost cinematic singer songwriter tune with it's relatively trad arrangement reminds me of Lee and Nancy (Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra) who made some pretty cool albums back in the 6os and 70s. It almost has this road movie feel to it and is an ubercool feel and very melodic verse. Stig's toned down voice and Elina's emotional performance made it an instant hit. If you want to see where Elina got her idea from her Grand finale costume, take a look at Tura Satana from Russ Meyer's Faster Pussycat Kill Kill.
  3. Efendi-Mata Hari. Actually everything about this song screams The Netherlands. It's song written by Dutch people about a Dutch spy performed in the Netherlands, it even charted in the Netehrlands. I wouldn't be surprised if Efendi actually has a Dutch grandfather or mother...;) Jokes aside, this oriental-ish bop is about as catchy and fiery and visually seductive as they come. There's no shortage of spice and sauce on this quality song or it's visual presentation. I still get thrown back in my chair everything I hear the "MATA HARI" opening.
  4. Maraaya-Here for You. The opening suggests some sort of jazz ballad with Marjetka's vocal fry "When you're down down low..."over the minimalist piano intro. But then comes the drums and the key changes and the vocal sound and style changes just like that to a darker, more energetic melody before we get a more orchestrated version of the intro now as a chorus. The el violin, piano licks highlights this great song along with Marjetka's great voice. The bridge is not too bad either. There's actually a lot going on here so it's kind of hard to analyse, but the result is great. And you just gotta love Marjetka's head phone coupled with the wind machine with her ginger hair blowing in the wind.
  5. Konstrakta-In Corpore Sano. This must be one of the more curious ESC songs of all time with it's relatively minimalist melody with Serbian lyrics about health and body fixation with its electronic choir like background vocals but it's the ultimate clap release chorus that makes us go "Biti zdrava" while we frenetically do a robotic golf clap that shows this strange song its appeal. It's just very cool and catchy, and it shows us all a side of ourselves we didn't know we had in us. Pure art, pure performance, pure magic.
  6. Sanna Nielsen-Undo. A fantastic pop ballad with beautiful minor moods and a dramatic chorus, plus the archetypical modulation towards the end. One of those songs that simply stands the test of time and I can listen to over and over again. Sanna is a very good singer who focuses a lot on schlager type music in her repertoire. I prefer this over many other songs from Sweden. It might have to do with my preference for drama and sadness over joyful and cheery songs. If you look at the heritage of Abba and what made them good songwriters it had a lot to do with their knack for making these bittersweet type songs with both sadness and joyfulness to them. This is a good example of such a song.
  7. Hatari- Hatrið mun sigra. How about sending an industrial techno song about how society will collapse? Why not? Iceland did it and they got away with it...;) At least almost as they got fined during the voting for showing a Palestinian flag during the voting. So the fine wasn't about the song. The song is very intense with it's hard electronic bassline with Matthias Haraldsson's distorted shouting in the verse, then to Klemens Hannigan's seductive and high, melodic singing in the chorus, making the contrast between the two singing styles extremely enjoyable and almost refined. The synth licks complementing the singing is also very well arranged. A true classic. Oh and I didn't even mention the visuals with the red blinking lights, the fire, the BDSM outfits that makes it look like some kind of alternative from East Berlin 1982.
  8. Dihaj-Skeletons. 80s electro style pop tune with jet like bass synths backing an angelic voice and baroque like synth licks that comes in at the pre chorus part before it explodes into an energetic chorus. Very cool. Dihaj is also a very good singer with a good range. I never quite understood the staging at the contest though. I expected something completely different.
  9. Knez-Adio. For me this is the quintessential Balkan ballad. The string arrangements, the soothing rhythm, the harmonic background vocals and the strong melody just blend together so well, and gives you images of mountains, rivers, waterfalls and works well into this mid tempo ballad with pretty minor chords and a pretty, sentimental delivery from Knez, who I think is one of the stronger vocalists the contest have seen.
  10. Vesna-My Sister's Crown. So onto this year's only entry on this list. As much as I liked a lot of the songs from 2023, a lot of them ended around the 30th spot in this list. Vesna was my lone candidate actually ending up on the list. To me they were always this year's number one, with their anthem about sisterhood, whether it was about slavic sisterhood or not is not so important to me. It was the song itself that got to me. It probably hit at the right time since I've become very interested in Czech history, culture and language the last years as well. As someone who is into harmonic music with folk elements this really hit the spot for me. I was so happy to see their final performance with their long braids and pink jumpsuits, plus very good choreography. The dancing at the end of the song really got to me, and I still have to focus really hard not to get emotional everytime I see that part. Dobra prace, holky!
  11. Il Volo-Grande Amore. Is it possible to get more Italian than this? And I mean it as a compliment. With great drama, big time forte this operapop schlager with grand voices hit big time in 2015 and won the popular votes of the contest. Some wondered if it would be too kitchy to send something so rooted in an ancient music style from the 17th century to a modern song contest that focuses greatly on visuals. The answer was an absolute no. I must admit that this was not among my favourites initially in 2015, but it slowly grew on me and now I really love it. The arrangement here is also interesting with a relativley monotonous bassline topped with the grand string arrangements that leads us to the crescendo.
  12. Keiino-Spirit in the Sky. My own country's only entry for this list. Combing EDM and joik actually works, and it's mindblowing how catchy this song gets when all the voices come together in the chorus. The melody in the chorus is slightly similar to Saara Alto's Monsters from 2018, but the song itself is very different. The Sami culture is quite exotic and far away even for us Norwegians, and even though the song is not a Sami song per se, all the elements of joik, Northern lights and shaman symbolism sends us into this mystical journey into the far north of ice, snow and winter darkness.
  13. Koit Toome and Laura-Verona. This pop love drama that uses Romeo and Juliet's city as it's background, was absolutely robbed of a place in the grand final when televotes gave it a 6th place in the second semi final while the juries only gave it 16 points, ending up 17th on the jury ranking, ultimately ending up only 14th on the combined list. As you can see, I have it higher on my Song of the decade-list than juries had it in that semi final. I also remember how bad the sound was, microphones not working, maybe even monitors not working when they were to perform in the semi final. For the best version of this song, watch the music video. The video of the semi final performance only makes me angry. Now, about the song itself, it's super catchy, almost anthemic in it's "o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o, we lost and we found our Verona" chorus. A great pop composition that has really stood the test of time.
  14. Poli Genova-If Love was a crime. Another song that I didn't love at first, but that has really grown on me over time. A quite dance friendly pop tune with almost soul like elements in the chorus, with it's unison singing and that trademark dance that come along with the performance. The song starts with a piano backing track, drums and that flute like synth that plays some infectious riff that sounds like a bird whistle or something. The true genius of this song is the pre chorus when she sings the title of the song. That part has some fantastic harmony arrangements and a great melody. It also took me a while to understand that the chorus was sung in Bulgarian. I never really understood why she sang "All I'm in Luther, I'm in Luther"...;)
  15. Salvador Sobral-Amor pelos dois. The only winner song on this list. When I made this list I didn't actually believe that this song would make it onto the top 20, but here it is! Some look at this as a sentimental journey back to old style Eurovision with no electronic music, no dancers, no smoke machines, basically nothing fancy going on whatsoever, and to some people, maybe even boring. I just look at this as a very pretty song about love that is sung in the prettiest and most heartfelt way possible. At the time of the final Salvador Sobral was due to a heart transplant caused by a weak heart, so at the time of the performance there where doubts about how long he could survive. Fortunately this looks like it has succeeded, and the performances I've seen of him since he looks a lot more healthy than he did in 2017. Thank god.
  16. Andromache-Ela. My second NQ on the list. It's claimed that the reason she didn't go the final was due to a bad vocal performance in the semi final, but it was the juries that really put her down with only giving her 9 points, and juries don't go off the televised performance do they? Or was it only in the grand finale that there's an extra jury performance? Anyhow, this beautiful Greek-balkan style pop song really deserved a lot more than it got from the juries and should have been in the grand finale. Pretty and delicate strings opens up before a pop track emerges with Andromache's pretty voice singing a heavenly melody and the super catchy chorus sends us straight to the Greek gods of lush voices and soft femininity. Nice use of echo and reverberation in this track.
  17. Go_A-Shum. Ukrainian techno folk sang entirely in Ukrainian is just one of these things I never imagined myself that I would enjoy, and going into then final I considered this song more of a curiosity than a song that I would thoroughly enjoy, but I was wrong. Folk music always takes a bit of a different ear to enjoy than "normal pop". The style of singing and the rhythm has a monotonous, almost chanting feel to it, and can sound off to many western ears. Yet this song really hit a nerve with me eventually. I just love what Ukraine has done to Eurovision, and I hope they keep sending great songs like this.
  18. Nina Sublatti-Warrior. A very powerful song with great attitude. A bumblebee like synth opens up before we have tribal drums and Nina singing about fighting and something about "oximated". It doesn't matter cause I believe everything she sings anyway. The chorus comes in hard and powerful with Nina singing her heart out and again those big drums. A pretty straight forward angry war-pop song, but very haunting and no-nonsense. My ESC universe is better with songs like these. Arguably the best song from Sakartvelo we've had, even though Iru challenged her pretty good this year.
  19. Zoë-Loin d'Ici. How many entries has there been that is sung in a language that is not a national language that is not English? I have watched the movie The Piano Teacher which is an Austrian movie where the dialogue is in French, but I've never had the impression that Austria had this thing about the french langauge or what? Nevermind, Zoë's tune Loin d'Ici is a dreamy, heavenly pop song with an amazing melody and stellar rhythm arrangement. I recognise her vocal style more as French than Austrian, but that could be the language. Anyway I'm not complaining, cause I'm a big fan of french vocals in the first place. This would fit in a movie I think with it's rich colourful style it could paint a faraway country in your dreams in a very nice way.
  20. Edurne-Amanecer. The sixth entry from 2015, so I guess that year wins it for me. And even though this song sounds very Spanish to me it's actually composed by Swedish composers. It has an ethnic style with a big dramatic chorus and a melody in minor chords. This is the same year Grande Amore from Italy and even though the songs are quite different I do also see similarities with the big crescendo like chorus and the songs being sung in each country's national language. It didn't perform very well in the final with only 15 points, of which 8 came from neighbours France and Portugal. Big countries also have neighbours! However in my opinion this is the best Spanish entry the last 10 years, even though I both nominated 2022 and 2023 also, so it's safe to say that things are moving in the right direction.

2023.06.04 03:55 SerialGhost First time TNT: Evilution on UV (map review)

I don't know why it has taken me until 2023 to playthrough TNT: Evilution, I love Doom... I've dabbled in some mods and wads here and there, played Sigil, No Rest for the Living, Doom 2 dozens and dozens of times. Decided to finally sit down and see what TNT is all about, no idea if I'll ever play Plutonia... I'm a bit Doomed out for awhile after finishing TNT. Well, from someone who went into this megawad mostly blind, here is what I think of the maps...
Map 01: System Control Rating: 7/10 Decent starting map, not overly complex or difficult. Grabbing the Berserk at the start to clear out the first parts of the map is a pretty satisfying way to get things started. Though there is an "outside" area of the map, most of it feels a bit claustrophobic and some of the rooms are just a bit too tight and compact. Fair and reasonable amount of ammo and health.
Map 02: Human BBQ Rating: 6/10 There are some interesting ideas on this map, but gameplay wise they don't really make for a satisfying experience. Couple big ambushes, but thankfully they aren't terribly unfair. Jumping out the window to get onto the area with the yellow/blue keys is kinda neat, but sometimes you need to waste time trying again when you don't make the jump.
Map03: Power Control Rating 6/10 Fairly standard TechBase, outdoor "ring" area is nicely designed but not overly special or unique. Not bad gameplay throughout, but just nothing stands out as super exciting on this map. Archvile near the blue key (I think?) was a neat little surprise.
Map04: Wormhole 7.5/10 Neat design and a very cool overall concept, unfortunately it feels like you have to specifically go out of your way to 100 percent the map, as some areas are somewhat unnecessary. Kind of scary/annoying fighting some of those revenants in such close quarters but still I thought it was a decently unique map.
Map05: Hanger 7/10 Lots of very tight and confusing corridors and a big wide open area fight. Nicely designed with some nasty traps. Not sure why but I enjoyed this one, even if it wasn't super special. Blue Key with the Revenant ambush was fun.
Map06: Open Season 8/10 I really liked this one, the big reactor concept was very cool and I really appreciate designs that feel a bit less abstract while keeping gameplay mostly intact. Ledge walking to get the Yellow Key is slightly annoying but this was still fun to explore.
Map07: Prison 5/10 Really don't like the outdoor section, as clearing out the hitscanners and other enemies to make it safe enough to explore is just too tedious for me. Its just a bit too wide open, and I don't always enjoy that in Doom gameplay. Big cage arena is fun if you have the invulnerability but I somehow missed it my first time and got fucked. Not fun lol.
Map08: Metal 4.5/10 Big rooms loaded with enemies. The one with the imps in cages has a cool aesthetic but by the time you finish the map you are absolutely exhausted from the tedious open room fights with chaingunners and specters standing in your way. Ugh. Just not for me.
Map09: Stronghold 6.5/10 Lots of nasty traps and difficult maps, man this one gave me trouble. There were some cool map design tricks and elements to the map that boosted the rating because despite being yet another techbase, it had a pretty neat layout.
Map10: Redemption 7.5/10 Really liked this one, tight design, short, sweet and to the point with a few tough and surprising encounters. Plenty of health laying around, so the really tough fights aren't too bad as long as you can survive them. I do wish there was maybe just one more room or encounter just to make it slightly longer but still a nice map.
Map11: Storage Facility 3/10 I have a love/hate thing with box mazes, big ass warehouse looking maps. The outside security checkpoints are very clever and look really nice but man the indoor box section is so bad. Just not my taste.
Map12: Crater 7/10 Good one. Some big open areas that I usually don't like but the fights didn't feel tedious or unfair like Metal or some of the others. Really fun to explore the map, though I don't think I really cared for the tunnel area with the water running through. Very decent, but not special.
Map13: Nukage Processing 8.5/10 Love the central hub with the slime/nukage. Another big outdoor area, but the tough fight here leads to a very satisfying CyberDemon fight that I quite enjoyed. Big storage vat of the green stuff fit the theme of the map really well. Just a really nicely designed map with the right level of difficulty.
Map14: Steel Works 7/10 Clever design. Grab your chaingun and go to town. I tend not to like crushers very much, and though you do get a set of goggles, the map has just a bit too much darkness and tricky to navigate spots. Nice to see a Mastermind, but the room wasnt set up very well to make a fun encounter. Cool concepts, but the gameplay wasn't always great.
Map15: Dead Zone 6.5/10 Tough one to rate, as the big fort is very neatly designed but window chaingunners are sometimes just a bit too annoying when navigating the perimeter. Some of the map progression is a bit unclear (how to open things, the switches, etc). In theory I liked the design but I ended up just not liking the gameplay much.
Map16: Deepest Reaches 5/10 An incoherent design when compared with the rest of TNT up to this point. The switch/platforming puzzle near the end was cool but it didn't make up for the rather bland canyon and cliffside sections. The fights weren't bad at all but just something about the design feels really bland compared to the other maps.
Map17: Processing Area 9/10 Fantastic. Clear, easy to understand design with a whole mess of dangerous encounters and enemies. Tight and compact but intricate enough to include lots of cool details. Great balance of exploration and good encounters. Exactly my cup of tea.
Map18: Mill 2/10 Fuck this map. I get what they were going for with the switch puzzle in the big blue CPU core looking room but I didn't like the implementation of it. Lots of pointless, annoying or otherwise confusing rooms. Final area is pretty neat but man I just had such a difficult time with it.
Map19: Shipping Respawning 10/10 (!) I hear this map isn't well liked, but man I love this one despite not generally liking rooms with boxes in them. So many little details in this map, the office room, the conveyor belt, the little truck outside. A super coherent map design by Doom's generally more abstracted levels. Easily my favorite TNT map.
Map20: Central Processing 9/10 God damn this map is brutal, and although it has some elements I normally don't like... the scale of the map, the ridiculous encounters and traps and the level of challenge were just awesome in my eyes. Last big outdoor series of encounters can be damn hard but delivered that sigh of relief and accomplishment once done. What a map.
Map21: Administration Center 6/10 I love central hubs, and having the keys be in that center slime pit was cool but I don't like being almost forced to touch damaging floors while trying to dodge revenants. Outdoor section didn't have enough interesting details to make the fights pleasing. Exploring the map was pretty fun but near the end I was getting exhausted with imp spamming fireballs at me while dealing with everything else going on.
Map22: Habitat 4/10 Just a pointless map, most of it can be skipped entirely and the weird maintenance tunnels are really stupid and contain secrets that are barely secrets. The archvile traps were surprisingly a fun surprise but still managed to rub me the wrong way considering how the rest of the map just feels so... directionless. Just not well thought out.
Map23: Lunar Mining Project 6.5/10 Not a bad map at all, just a bit too many rooms that serve no real purpose, but still work well within the design concepts. A nice break after suffering through the ugliness of Habitat. I just wish it had a bit more to do, as the strange section in the underground felt a bit half-baked. If there was just a bit more polish done on this map it could have been a real banger.
Map24: Quarry 7/10 Cool design, just not a very memorable one as its very short. The winding passages aren't that confusing once you do some running around in here. Nothing wrong with this one, lots of cool little details, just another map thats missing something a bit extra.
Map25: Baron's Den 5.5/10 A bit of a mixed bag as it has some really nice designs in some sections while others just have really stupid fights that aren't that fun. While there were a few maps before this that were too short, this one feels too long for what it is. I think a few of the maps and areas could be slightly remixed to make this a 7 or higher but... didn't care for this one.
Map26: Ballistyx 9.5/10 Banger. Love the claustrophobia of descending the elevator into a series of creepy tunnels. Great gameplay, balanced traps and fights, felt good to explore and open things up. Exit was a bit weird and some places could have used just a tiny bit more lighting.
Map27: Mount Pain 0/10 Why? Why is the interior so ugly? Where is my health? Why is there so many enemies that aren't placed in interesting areas besides just spammed at you? Dumb. Just really fucking bad.
Map28: Heck 10/10 A central hub! Hellish! Rockets everywhere! Wonderfully designed map that is really fun to play. Each room branching off the center has it's own unique gameplay feeling. Chefs kiss. A classic Doom design that just works on so many levels.
Map29: River Styx 9/10 Great design. Well laid out, lots of powerups and ammo and just a real joy to explore. So many well thought out fights except for maybe the last ambush in the very tight corridor is just a bit unnecessary. A real treat of a map.
Map30: Last Call 6.5/10 I don't dislike this map, but its just so mixed. Instakill platforms were cool the first time through when you figure out the puzzle of it, then it just feels like tedium. Some okay fights like the revenant/arachno room and the cyber, but then a real bland section where you're literally just shooting fish in a barrel. Demon Spitter room is fine, just a bit tight and hectic. Final levels are rarely very good in Doom so overall just kinda "pretty good/okay".
Not reviewing the secret levels since I didn't find them during my first blind playthrough.

2023.06.04 03:37 British_Tea_Company Respect: Cato Sicarius (Warhammer 40k)

‘I only want…’ said Nehebkau, ‘to save my people.’
Sicarius looked down on the necron without mercy. ‘So do I,’ he said, splitting Nehebkau’s head in half.

Cato Sicarius

Cato Sicarius is the former Captain of the Ultramarines 2nd Company and the current commander of the Ultramarines Honour Guard. Beginning his career since his youth, Cato was raised among the noble families of the planet Talassar, his upbringing involving much martial training which quickly saw his induction into the Ultramarines Chapter. Initially, Cato proved to be an arrogant, pompous and callous leader who sought only for his personal glory. It was only after the Damocles campaign which involved a near-mutiny after his callous treatment of his squad and other sergeants that saw him eventually evolving into a more capable and levelled leader, though this didn't quite stymie his immense ego.
It was then at the Damnos Campaign where Cato was nearly slain against the Necron Overlord the Undying in which he began exhibiting a more humble and humane outlook. He would eventually avenge himself against the Undying during a recapture of the planet but never forgot the lessons learned from his earlier failures in life. Present for the resurrection of his Primarch: Roboute Guilliman, he was subsequently promoted(?) into being the head of the Ultramarines Victrix Guard following being missing in the warp for an extended period of time.
Author's Note: Cato Sicarius is a sergeant during the events of "Blades of Damocles" and likely is wearing an inferior pattern of armor as well as being overall less experienced. Cato Sicarius as of "Master of the Watch" is explicitly not wearing his usual armor. Cato does not have any other equipment changes expressly stated following his change in role within the Ultramarines.

The Talassarian Tempest Blade is labelled as TTB.

2023.06.04 03:05 Pinto_RED_Window13 Demo Samedi (tf2 freakshow) Vs Ridley (metroid)

Scene: A dark and ruined city, with fires and debris everywhere. Demo Samedi is standing on top of a building, holding his voodoo doll and laughing maniacally. He has just killed a group of soldiers and raised them as zombies.

Demo Samedi: Have at them lads! Show these pathetic humans who's the boss! (He throws his voodoo doll in the air and catches it) Ah, this is too easy. I need a real challenge. Someone who can match my power and cunning. Someone who can make me feel alive!

Suddenly, a loud roar echoes through the sky. Demo Samedi looks up and sees a large shadow flying towards him. It is Ridley, who has detected the energy signature of the voodoo doll and decided to investigate.

Ridley: (roars) What is this? A new prey? A new toy? (He lands on the building opposite to Demo Samedi, crushing it with his weight. He glares at Demo Samedi with his glowing eyes) You look interesting. You have something I want. Give it to me!
Demo Samedi: (grins) Well, well, well. What do we have here? A giant lizard with wings? You must be one of those space pirates I've heard about. (He points his voodoo doll at Ridley) And you want this? This is my precious treasure. The source of my power. The cross of Baron Samedi!
Ridley: (snarls) I don't care what it is. I only care that it is mine. You are in my way. You will die. (He shoots a fireball from his mouth at Demo Samedi)
Demo Samedi: (dodges the fireball) Ha! Is that all you've got? You'll have to do better than that! (He summons a sword from his voodoo doll and throws it at Ridley)
Ridley: (swats the sword away with his tail) Pathetic. You think you can hurt me with that? You are nothing to me. You are weak. You are food. (He flies towards Demo Samedi and tries to bite him)
Demo Samedi: (jumps back and lands on another building) Come on, then! Show me what you've got! Let's have some fun! (He summons a shotgun from his voodoo doll and shoots at Ridley)
Ridley: (takes the shots but shrugs them off) Foolish. You are wasting your time. You cannot harm me. I am invincible. I am unstoppable. I am Ridley! (He charges at Demo Samedi and slams him with his claws)
Demo Samedi: (gets knocked down and drops his voodoo doll) Oof! That hurt! But not enough! (He gets up and grabs his voodoo doll) You may be strong, but you are not smart. You are a brute. A beast. A mindless animal. And I know how to deal with animals. (He uses his voodoo magic to take control of Ridley's mind)
Ridley: (stops in mid-air and shakes his head) What? What is this? What are you doing to me? Get out of my head! Get out!
Demo Samedi: (laughs) Too late! I'm in your head now! And you are mine! Mine to command! Mine to torture! Mine to kill! (He makes Ridley fly into a building and crash)
Ridley: (roars in pain and anger) No! No! No! This cannot be! This cannot happen! I will not let you! I will not obey you! I will break free! I will destroy you! (He struggles against Demo Samedi's control and manages to resist)
Demo Samedi: (frowns) What? How? How can you resist me? How can you fight back? This is impossible!
Ridley: (grins wickedly) Impossible? Nothing is impossible for me. I am Ridley. I am the leader of the space pirates. I am the nemesis of Samus Aran. I am the cunning god of death. And you are nothing but a worm. A worm that has bitten off more than it can chew. A worm that will be crushed by my wrath. (He breaks free from Demo Samedi's control and flies towards him with full speed)
Demo Samedi: (gulps) Uh-oh.

The scene ends with a loud crash and a scream.

2023.06.04 01:45 Gladia70r Should I buy a 2011 dodge journey rt awd for 4500CAD?

I've been searching a while to buy a car under 5k. I found a 2010 Subaru imprezza with 200k km. The engine and transmission are good, but the shocks and linkages are beat up, also the ac stinks. Second choice is to go for a 2011 Dodge Journey rt awd with 200k km, shocks are bouncy but manageable. The owner replaced the cluster a while back and so the odo reading is not accurate. Engine is smooth, no smoke, no leak, transmission is good. Subaru is 5500, Dodge is 4500$. Both are active status, I took the accident and lien history, no accidents and no lien.
Please suggest. This is my first car in Canada.

2023.06.04 01:44 MotionlessPC My power went out. So here's a story.

I would usually be paying video games like I do all the time except when I'm working, but the power went out so I felt like sharing a story. (It's a long story btw)
Background: Im 26 and knew long ago I was going to end up FA. I don't think I look bad but I have a real problem talking to women I find attractive. I also have no desire to change that for some reason. I've known since high school that I would be this way. Watching everyone around me get into relationships. I've never been bullied and women aren't disgusted by me. I just can't find a way to talk to them. Thus, zero dates and obviously never a relationship.
OK so the story. This begins around August of 2020. I used to smoke weed everyday. And I got it off my brother who was still in college at the time. Well he was graduating soon so I needed to find another source. So my brother told me about a friend close to me that he would introduce so I could continue to get weed. I met him about once a month after he introduced us to pick it up. Would stay for like 5 min and then leave.
Well around September the friend (I'll call him bill for ananimity) told me his girlfriend wanted to meet me. I had no idea why and I wasn't really sure I wanted to but I went ahead with it.
I hung out with them quite a bit after that. Usually a couple times a week and on the weekends we would smoke weed, do shrooms, and had a pretty good time together overall. I thought I was making some great friends for the first time in my life. I really enjoyed it.
Well about two months in doing these type of things regularly bills girlfriend (I'll call her Laura) started to text me a lot more than usual. And it didn't take long for her to tell me that she really liked me in a not just a friend type of way.
Now I want to state that from here on I was definitely in the wrong. I know what I didn't wasn't right and I should have told bill right away about what Laura said. But people make mistakes and this was the first time anything like this had happened to me. Im doing my best to learn from this and to never let it happen again.
Anyway after she told me that I started talking with her a lot. Like texting her all day even when I was at work. Facetiming her at night. At the time I was happy for the attention. This lasted until December. I never had sex with her or did anything because I thought I was being the bigger man at the time by telling her she would have to leave bill before anything more could happen.
So basically I was going behind my new friends back trying to steal his girlfriend because she told me she wasn't happy anymore and wanted to be with me. At the beginning of December we started finding time to hang out just the two of us. We would fool around but nothing ever happened and I never even kissed her.
Well at the end of December she took an entire weeklong trip with Bill to see his parents who were far away. She didn't tell me about this and didn't respond to me the entire week. After that I kind of gave Laura an ultimatum. She had until the end of January to decide who she wanted to be with and what she wanted to do.
Well everything fell apart after that. She stopped texting me as much and very shortly later she stopped altogether. So I told her that I was done doing this. I cut off all contact with the both bill and Laura. I deleted the every contact I had for both of them and have not talked to them since.
I'm probably forgetting some details but that was over two years ago now. And I'm not gonna lie, not a day goes by that I don't think about Laura. And bill too. They could have been great friends for me if she had just left it that way. I know I dodged a bullet for sure. Laura was just looking for an easier way up in life. I did and still probably do make more money than both of them. I had a nice place and nice things and I realize now that's what she wanted me for.
This is true story that happened to me and I'm still alone to this day. Which is the reason I still think about her. The only thing that has changed for me is that I quit smoking weed this January and I feel like I'm better for it.
TL/DR - my new weed dealers girlfriend said she liked me. I was a bad person and went along with it. They became my friends and I lost them both because it.

Toxic Rats: B, Geoff, Scott, Leshawna, Sammy
Mutant Maggots: Anne Maria, Katie, Molly, Scarlett, Dave, DJ, Trent
Episode 03: Ice Ice Baby
"Previously on Total Drama Revenge of the Island!" Chris opened on the now-typical shot of the somewhat decrepit Camp. "We learned that although our campers are here to win," the recap montage began with the two recently-awoken team assembled before the host, "they're all losers in one way or another," Scott was shown fleeing in terror from a mutant wooly beaver during the flashback of his Chris Head hunt. "Really, really big losers," Chris added over shots of Fang chomping off the corner of the Rats' stand, and DJ admitting his secret of sleeping with a teddy bear.
"It was a psychological butt-kicking that quickly turned literal," Chris continued as Trent was shown sizing up the angle of his final swing into the Grand Slam, and Geoff got kicked forward by the Kick Start. "Then comical," the host added as Leshawna was shown painfully bouncing from one butt-shaped apparatus to the next, "then hysterical!" Chris finished with a laugh as Sierra's first try at the Grand Slam was shown, ending with the girl hitting the muddy floor.
"In the end, Sierra got the biggest boot of all," Sierra was shown in the bucket of the catapult. "Bye-bye," Chris added mockingly as the obsessive uberfan was flung into the night.
"I love my job," he said as the scene cut to him on the Dock of Shame, "Stay tuned as more things blow up! More contestants throw up, and some even try to hook up. Right here, on Total! Drama! Revenge of the Island!"
The episode opened on Camp Wawanakwa's lodge and mess hall, the camera panning to the left to show the communal bathroom and, more importantly, a cluster of bushes. The shot zoomed in as one of them began to rustle, and a mouse with a bulging, veiny head scurried out into the open. It paused as the shadow of a bird of prey fell over it, and looked up to see a bald eagle diving towards it with its talons out.
The mutant mouse's eyes glowed green, and a beam shot out of them and hit the approaching eagle. The bird froze in mid-air, then slammed back and forth as though in the grasp of some unseen hand. It was finally tossed off-camera with a squawk, and the mutant mouse scurried onward. It climbed the steps of the main lodge and crawled through a hole in the door, and the scene cut inside.
The camera, situated high on the right wall relative to the entrance, showed the two teams eating and the lodge itself in a state of near disrepair. The floor had become a patchwork of different colors and styles; one of the front windows had been broken and halfheartedly boarded up; there was a gaping hole in the roof over the other front window; a few planks were missing from the far left wall around the fireplace; and a bit of wallpaper was peeling on the partition dividing the kitchen from the rest of the lodge.
The seven members of the Mutant Maggots sat at the forward table, to the left of the camera, while the five Toxic Rats sat closer to the kitchen; and both teams had only logs to sit on.
Katie stuck a spoonful of the grayish food they'd been served into her mouth, cringed, and spat it out. "This is so nasty! Gruel really is cruel!"
The perspective inverted to show Dave's face covered in the food. "Sorry Dave," Katie said from off screen.
Confessional: Dave
Dave started his confessional with a heavy sigh. "I never thought I'd say this, but I'd rather eat dirt than any more of breakfast."
Confessional Ends
The static changed to Molly and Anne Maria sitting together. Molly was coughing due to how much spray Anne Maria was using.
Anne Maria noticed her plight and stopped. "Sorry, retro. On the upside, now your lungs are waterproof."
"I'll make use of that," Molly coughed again.
The shot cut to B at the right end of the Rats' table. He picked a hair out of his spoonful, and threw it away uncomfortably.
The camera panned to the left to show Leshawna and Geoff in what looked like an eating contest. Just as they were really getting into it, Geoff accidentally swallowed his spoon and started to choke.
Leshawna finished her meal first before checking on Geoff. "Let me help you out with that." She smacked the back of his neck, allowing the spoon to come out of his mouth.
Geoff sighed in relief. "Thanks. I really needed that."
"Bad news, I finished before you," Leshawna teased Geoff in good fun.
"Awesome," Geoff said. "Back home, I'm the kind when it comes to food competitions with my buds."
"If you say so," Leshawna replied.
The perspective changed, now showing Sammy and Scott eating across from Leshawna and Geoff.
"I've eaten fruits and vegetables just to keep my body fit for cheerleading, but this is too gross!" Sammy winced and shoved her gruel away.
Scott, who had witnessed her complaint and finished his gruel, grabbed her bowl and helped himself to a second helping.
Confessional: Scott
Scott began his confessional by chuckling while whittling a wood stick with his shark tooth. "Wimps. I grew up on a dirt farm." He brought out a clod. "I can always chomp on a clod if I get the munchies.
He took a bite out of his aforementioned object and chewed on it for a few seconds. The dirt farmer then smiled for the camera, only for his teeth to shatter and fall to the floor.
Confessional Ends
The footage resumed to the Maggots' table as DJ scooped up a spoonful of gruel with a little antenna poking out of it. He didn't notice, but when he put it in his mouth, he began to choke. Clutching his throat, he got to his feet, and stood away from the table, gagging.
"Hang on!" Trent called out, rushing up behind DJ and pumping his stomach repeatedly. The force was enough to make him spit out whatever he was choking on. A little beetle flew out among bits of gruel, and bounced onto the floor before landing on Geoff's hat.
DJ awkwardly breathed. "Thanks for the save," he said.
"Don't sweat it," Trent replied. "We're teammates."
The shot cut back to Scarlett, who was looking down to the bulbous-headed mouse now sitting on their own table. "What is that Apodemus sylvaticus doing over here?" she remarked. Without warning the mouse's eyes began to glow green again, and to the horror of the brainiac it levitated into the air.
The scene moved outside the lodge as crashes and screams of terror filled the air. All the campers except Molly fled out the front door and a refrigerator was flung out after them. They paused to catch their breath, and it was then that Molly was finally tossed out to them with a scream of her own.
The whine of the intercom turning on caught their attention, and the camera cut to an upward shot of the loudspeaker. "Attention, players!" Chris announced. "Please head to the looming tragedy that is Mount Looming Tragedy!" The shot switched to a tall, craggy spire of rock in the distance, it's broad and flat peak seen only in silhouette thanks to a ring of ominous clouds. "Your race begins, NOW!"
He punctuated his broadcast with his blowhorn, and Scarlett immediately turned to her teammates. "Maggots, let us make haste!" she declared, and all twelve campers raced off.
A flash ahead showed the two teams arriving at the base of the mountain, all of them out of breath.
"Did we win the challenge?" Katie panted, doubled over with her hands on her knees.
Dave arrived last just then, clutching his stomach and groaning. He walked over to a bush, fell to his knees, and threw up.
"Not to judge, but you should exercise more, dude," Molly told the germaphobe as he stood back up and wiped the bile from his lips.
A sudden whistle interrupted any reply that may have come, drawing the campers' attention to the side. "Okay, mutant food," Chris greeted, standing with Chef next to a muddy jeep, "on with the challenge! Part one is an uphill battle," he explained, the shot moving to and upward pan of the rocky tower before them – it was covered with barbed wire, toxic waste barrels, and what looked like pipes of some kind. "You have to climb all the way up to that cliff," Chris explained, the camera coming to a rest at the broad, flat rock that topped the mountain; a dead tree and another toxic waste barrel were the only things to be seen on top. "First team to reach the top gets an advantage in part two."
"You can climb with your hands," the host continued as the shot returned to him, "or use whatever you find in the pile." He motioned over his shoulder, and the camera cut to a large mound of junk – appliances, furniture, pipes, tires, and other abandoned pieces of scrap. "But don't worry," Chris added, growing more and more excited, "this junkyard doesn't have a dog. It has a giant mutant beetle!"
On cue, a gigantic beetle similar to the one DJ had found in his gruel popped out of the junk pile and hissed at the humans; B, Sammy, DJ, Molly, and Trent all gasped in shock.
"Hahaha, big guy's a bit of a hoarder," Chris laughed. "His estate is full of useful crud," the beetle was shown picking up a paintball gun and a sewing machine from the pile and casually tossing them away, "aaaand disgusting crud." The beetle picked out a toilet next, and threw it at the humans with a hissing roar; B, Sammy, DJ, Molly, and Trent quickly ducked, and it crashed to the ground behind them. "That is, if you can get near it," Chris told them with an impish smile.
"One last thing before we start," the host announced. "Since the Rats are looking uneven, I'll need one member of the Maggots to switch over to their team. Who's it gonna be?"
"I'll move to the Toxic Rats," Trent shrugged.
Chris turned towards the mountain and gave a thumbs-up, and Chef – now on top of the cliff – blew on an alphorn, shaking the area. "It is on!" the host declared.
"Let's move Maggots!" Scarlett said as the campers started running.
The Maggots' logo appeared in the corner as Dave was shown struggling to pull himself up to a ledge. "Molly was right. I need more exercise." He fell off completely, and sighed as he laid on the ground.
"Don't give up Dave," Katie called out to him while hanging from a dead tree that was jutting out of the rock. "You can do it!" The branch broke and she started to fall with a scream, until a hand pulled her up to a higher ledge.
The camera panned up to show that DJ had saved her. "Thank you," Katie said happily.
"Anytime," DJ replied. The two looked into each other's eyes and smiled.
"Rock climbing," Molly yelled as the shot cut to her climbing the mountain, "was never on my bucket list!"
"You don't have to like it," Katie said. "You just have to help us instead of wanting to bail."
"It's not my fault I wanted to avoid being killed," Molly said, referring to the challenge last episode.
"Keep it together, Geoff," Scott called out as the shot cut to him and Geoff climbing another part of the mountain, the Rats' logo in the top-left corner of the screen. "At this rate, we'll be the ones winning for our team!"
"Don't worry about me!" Geoff advised. "This is no sweat."
Confessional: Geoff
"I'm a bit of a rock climber back home," Geoff said. "It makes me feel free and adventurous. I normally wear sunglasses just to prevent the rocks from getting into my eyes, but I didn't come prepared. Wish me luck."
Confessional Ends
The shot cut next to Anne Maria, still on the ground looking at her reflection in her hand mirror. "And will the lady be participating?" Chris asked in a mocking prim tone as he walked over.
"Have you seen my nails?" Anne Maria denied. "These are why I drive with my feet."
"I see," Chris said blankly. "What about you?" he asked, turning his head towards Scarlett – who was also still on the ground, looking up at the cliff.
"I will climb," Scarlett replied. "I'm just doing some calculations right now."
The camera panned over to the right, where Leshawna was trying to climb the cliff with Trent watching her failed attempts.
"And I'm coming back down," Sammy slid to the ground with a deadpan expression. "Practice doesn't make perfect, Trent."
"I was trying to prep you up," Trent admitted.
"Sammy, wait! I see B has a plan," Leshawna told Sammy as she saw B near the junkpile.
"Okay then. I hope it involves not climbing." Sammy said off-camera.
The scene cut back to Geoff lingering at a ledge with a few small, loose stones on it. He misstepped as he climbed, and accidentally kicked them off – they tumbled down the mountainside, catching DJ and Katie and knocking them off. The two crashed into Dave, who was making his own slow progress up the mountain, and all three landed on the ground in a heap.
Back down at the bottom, Scarlett stopped at the three that had fallen, who had still not made any move to get up.
"Are you all still able to function later?" Scarlett asked.
"We're fine," Dave said. "Thanks for asking."
Confessional: Scarlett
"I didn't immediately start climbing up the cliff," Scarlett explained her plan. "I wanted to see how everyone would go about it. That way, I can seek out any obstacles and how to avoid them."
Confessional Ends
Back over the junk pile, B attempted to grab a barrel, only to be stopped by the beetle breathing fire.
"It can breathe fire? Seriously?" Leshawna said, flabbergasted.
"Maybe we can distract this beetle," Trent suggested.
B held up a refrigerator door to prevent himself from getting burned by the beetle's fire, giving way for Leshawna to snatch a flute that was on top of the pile.
"Toss it over! I could give it a try," Sammy offered before Leshawna threw at her the flute.
Sammy's flute playing wasn't very good, and the beetle quickly breathed out another jet of fire, then curled up into a ball and rolled towards them as the intense challenge music resumed. Sammy stopped playing as she and Trent scattered, with the balled-up beetle only following the guitarist.
"Why are you going after me?!" Trent exclaimed as he ran from the mutant, Sammy and Leshawna watching from the junk pile. "I didn't use the flute!"
Dave, DJ, and Katie got back up from the fall and saw B dragging the barrel on the ground.
"The Rats have the right idea. We can take things from the trash pile so we can climb up," Scarlett said to the three as they went to the trash pile to pick up items while the beetle was jumping on Trent and smashing him to the ground.
The shot cut to the top of the mountain, where Chef was waiting with several large blocks of ice. Geoff was almost there, causing Chef to scowl – though he brightened up when his walkie talkie beeped. "You know what to do," Chris told him. "Ice 'em."
"We might just win this," Geoff said confidently. The shot cut up to Chef as he held out an ice block with a vicious grin. He let it fall, and Geoff looked up just in time to see it hit him. It knocked him off the cliff face, and he fell and knocked Scott off as well. The two fell past Molly, who watched in shock as they landed with a pained thud and groan.
Molly scowled upwards, and Chef was shown throwing more and more ice blocks down towards her. With a smirk, she dodged each one in turn. "Like I'm gonna get iced like that!" she taunted up at the man.
Anne Maria was still on the ground spraying her hair. "Nice hairspray, pouf head!" Molly taunted her. "Maybe if you used spray on style, it might be easy on the eyes!"
Anne Maria got enraged enough to crush her can with one hand. "What'd you say to me? Oh, it is on!" Anne Maria declared as she started her climb.
Chef threw an ice block in her direction, but it got shattered thanks to how hard her hair was.
"Hey! Quit it!" Anne Maria punched another ice block out of her way. "I'm coming for you, Pasty!"
Molly watched her with a bit of fear, but got over it. "She'll thank me later."
As Geoff and Scott got back up from their falls, the camera went over to Scarlett, Katie, DJ, and Dave ready to go back up the cliff again.
"If all else fails, just use whatever you have," Katie noted to her team. "I've done a lot of DIY projects that way."
"DIY?" Dave asked incredulously.
"It means Do it yourself," Katie pronounced before showing off her fingers that were wrapped with metal sharpened to resemble Wolverine's claws. She latched on to the cliff with them and started to climb. "Let's get climbing!"
DJ used a pair of plungers as his climbing method, Dave spun around a coil of rope before throwing it up so that he can climb on it, and Scarlett used a grappling gun she made out of metal in order to climb certain parts of the cliff.
Trent was now getting punched in the face by the beetle, who was wearing boxing gloves now.
Geoff watched with concern, until the beetle from earlier hopped out of his hat. He noticed this and swooped it up. "Wait! Is this why you're being so harsh?"
This attracted the attention of the larger one, who promptly dropped Trent. He hit the ground with a groan.
The smaller beetle jumped from Geoff's hand and scurried over to its parent, who picked it up with its forelegs, looked at it lovingly, and gave it a quick tap on the back so that it burped out a small jet of flame. Satisfied, the guard beetle scurried away and disappeared behind its horde.
"That was really touching," Geoff commented in a touched tone.
Confessional: Trent
"Beetles can put up one heck of a fight," Trent said with his bruises on display.
Confessional Ends
The camera quick-panned back down to the Rats. Several bottles and bags and electronic bits had been tied to the waste barrel, two long wires were leading out from them, and a couch was seated over it.
"Baking soda? A broken chair leg? We were chased by a giant, fire-breathing beetle so you could collect all of this?!" Trent said to B.
B motioned them to come sit down. Seeing that they're out of options, they complied and took a seat.
With everyone in, B intersected two wires together, instigating a spark and setting the couch to fly up to the sky.
"We're flying now!" Leshawna cheered out loud as they passed Scarlett, DJ, Dave, and Katie, who were still climbing.
Molly got to the top and hauled herself up with a triumphant cheer... just before the couch crashed down on top of Chef, Scott nowhere to be seen.
"You did it, B! We won the challenge!" Geoff congratulated the silent inventor, leading the Rats to cheer for their victory.
It was then that Scott finally landed on the mountain with a thud, leading the five Rats to look at him in shock.
Confessional: Scott
"Okay, seriously. Beverly the explosives expert mime has to go!" Scott stabbed his tooth into the wall angrily.
Confessional Ends
Chris arrived with his jetpack. "Slow your roll, Party Boy, I say who wins."
"Good enough," Molly smirked.
"The Rats, thanks to B!" Chris announced, earning a triumphant cheer from the six winners and a groan from the losers. "See how I do that better?"
"I got up here first!" Molly shouted while Anne Maria went up to her. "Doesn't that mean we win!"
"First team to the top wins. That means the whole team. You're still missing them." Chris enforced the rules.
"How swell," Molly moaned, and got slapped on her arm by Anne Maria. "What was that for?!"
"Nobody disrespects the hair or the spray," Anne Maria reminded her.
"Harsh, but true," Chris got in front of her. "Who else is heading for a fall? Find out after the break."

In this exhilarating level, Blara and Mari discover themselves soaring through the skies, presented with a unique challenge. Equipped with their trusty Dog Suits, which grant them special abilities, they must navigate through a sky-high realm teeming with airborne enemies and perilous obstacles.
Section 1: Cloudscape Traverse The level begins with the Blario sisters leaping from a platform into a stunning cloudscape. Fluffy white clouds surround them as they utilize their Dog Suits to take to the air. Floating platforms made of clouds act as their path, but they must be cautious of gusts of wind that threaten to blow them off course. Skyborne enemies, such as Avian Gliders and Cloud Sprites, attempt to obstruct their progress, requiring the sisters to use their Dog Suit abilities to dodge or defeat them.
Section 2: Treetop Tumult As the sisters ascend higher into the sky, they find themselves amidst a network of tall, floating trees. These massive arboreal structures form their platforms, with interconnected branches serving as their path. However, the branches are infested with Sky Vipers, serpent-like creatures that swoop down to attack. The sisters must employ their Dog Suit's agility and precision to traverse the treetops, leaping from branch to branch, while dodging the Sky Vipers' lunges and projectiles.
Section 3: Stormy Skies The sky grows darker as storm clouds gather, signaling a more challenging section of the level. Lightning bolts crackle through the sky, presenting electrifying hazards. The sisters must use their Dog Suit's special abilities, such as enhanced speed or lightning-infused attacks, to defeat these adversaries and clear their path.
Section 4: Aerial Boss Encounter In the final segment, the Blario sisters face off against a formidable Aerial Boss, a giant bird-like creature with menacing attacks. The boss swoops down, unleashing projectiles and summoning smaller birds to aid it. Blara and Mari must maneuver skillfully, utilizing their Dog Suits' unique abilities to evade the boss's assaults while retaliating with their own attacks. The battle takes place amidst the clouds and requires precise timing and strategic decision-making to emerge victorious.
Upon defeating the Aerial Boss, the Blario sisters are rewarded with a valuable item or power-up, allowing them to access new areas or progress further in their quest. They descend from the skies, preparing for the challenges that lie ahead

the quests for this level include:
