2023.06.08 21:38 LookNoahFence Is there law-abiding leverage here?
I have a charger that has been driven once a month max to the corner store less than a mile away. Vehicle is old and unreliable for anything more than light local city driving, so it’s been a secondary vehicle for me that just wasn’t worth trying to sell.
All that to say, fca is and has long been desperate to get me to fix this recall that I’ve never really worried about bc I don’t drive the car. Fast forward to today; I get this in the mail.
Not only are they willing to come to me and fix for FREE, but they will also send me a $100 prepaid MasterCard for defusing the landmine of liability that is my airbag.
My question is: does this imply there is upside to continuing my holdout? How high might they go to get this dealt with? Any precedents or guidance I should consider?
I’d be a happy camper with $100 and a brand new airbag — but my business sense is tingling. If nothing jumps off the page, I’ll just take em up on this offer and gladly so. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

2023.06.07 11:37 Old-Milk-514 Worst client you ever had?
Mine was a Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Fiat dealership back in 2017. We picked them up in early spring, leading up to that Allied had dropped them, Universal had dropped them, Yale had dropped them, and even G4S had dropped them.
(Before anyone chimes in and says they're all Allied, G4S didn't join Allied until 2021. Yale had just picked up in February of 2017, and Universal was bought in 2016, but they didn't change the name to Allied Universal until 2017. They started going through security companies in 2014.)
Even two local companies they had after Allied both dropped them. It wasn't until a month in that I understood why. These idiots would leave somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-300 vehicles unlocked every single damn day. Dozens of windows left down. Dozens of keys left out where anyone could access them.
And they paid for that too. Got robbed blind a lot.
I went in one night and all three $81,000 Hellcats on the lot were ripe to be stolen, windows down with the keyfob laying in the seat. I was fucking floored, so much so that I broke the cardinal rule and called the owner of the dealership right then to tell him. He seemed genuinely furious about what I had found.
Next night, wouldn't you know it, another few hundred unlocked vehicles and dozens of keys left out. They legitimately did not give a fuck. And they always blamed security whenever they got robbed, even though the cameras showed the burglary would happen outside the contract hours.
I asked the lot manager why they never locked the vehicles and made sure the keys were secured. He said it wasn't their SOP. Mind you, we had three other car dealerships, and between the three I might find a dozen unlocked vehicles and two or three sets of unsecured keys.

2023.06.06 22:27 RagsToRiggins 2013 ram 1500 with 4 button prox key - can’t program keys to it?
Tried to add a key to a 2013 ram 1500, 4 button prox key, tombstone shape slightly different buttons than the regular chrysler tombstones. Tried first with im508, kept saying learning failed. Next tried km100, same problem. Next tried alfaobd, failed every time.
Tried 3 different keys, none worked. I know for a fact the car is getting the signal, because it always said learning failed, but one time when I forgot to click the unlock button, it said aborted - incorrect conditions. So obviously it’s reading something, but not accepting it?
I tried it multiple different ways, ignition off, ignition on, ignition off + hazards on, etc, and in different locations anywhere from the center console (where it said to hold it) to the start button. Also tried pressing it once, several times, holding it, nothing worked.
All three of my tools had slightly different instructions, which is why I tried so many different ways.
Anyone have success with these, what could I be missing? Do these trucks not like aftermarket keys (from AKS)?
My last option is using witech, but I didn’t have access to it today. Is witech required? I’ve seen plenty of videos of people doing the same exact thing with alfaobd, so I doubt it
Edit: to clarify,
this is what I mean by different buttons, the normal chrysler prox fobs I’ve seen do not have those outlines on the buttons

2023.06.06 09:12 vintageharry04 Chrysler has absolutely NO business selling cars in the U.S.
I know this will come off as contradictory to my post about the PT Cruiser being a good car, but Chrysler doesn't have any business selling cars in the U.S. Their lineup is full of 10+ year old cars (except for the Pacifica, Ram and the Jeep Wrangler, Gladiator and Grand Cherokee), and they lack features that have become expected of newer cars today. Think heads-up displays, rain-sensing wipers, automatic emergency braking, etc. Most (if not all) of Chrysler's products lack these features, even on the newest models. To make things worse for the Chrysler brand itself, it'll have only one model, the aforementioned Pacifica minivan as it announced the 300 will be gone by the end of the 2023 model year. Dodge will also have only one model as well, the Durango SUV, as the Charger and Challenger will also be gone by the end of the 2023 model year. This means that besides Jeep and Ram, buyers have a choice between a minivan (which no one buys anymore) and a 10+ year old SUV (which clearly appears outdated and hasn't been given a single update in almost 10 years either).
It seems like Chrysler is on a downhill slope and if they expect to have any real business selling cars, they need to step up their game.

2023.06.06 08:12 khoafraelich789 Who Owns Which Car Brands?
| A road map to auto industry ownership and partnerships https://preview.redd.it/v3s9k6imac4b1.png?width=652&format=png&auto=webp&s=22c14d08c4e3d1e87d1a82c62c93a80d573ee96c The auto industry has a very confusing family tree. The past decade has seen partnerships, sales, separations, bankruptcies, and entire divisions killed off, making it difficult to keep up with who owns which car brands. As automakers have slimmed down to become more profitable and efficient, we’ve seen storied names, such as Mercury, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac, fade into the history books. We’ve also seen others, such as Chrysler, Jaguar, and Volvo, find new corporate parents, outside their original country. And new companies have risen, such as Rivian and Tesla. To help clear up some of the confusion, we present a road map to who owns which car brands sold in the U.S. Several brands that have been retired are included in the list, such as Scion, because models are still available on the used-car market. We have omitted small-volume brands, such as Aston Martin and Ferrari, that are without major automaker parent companies. Most brand names link to brand pages, where you will find links to current and past road tests. Of course, the list is subject to change. To find out how the major brands compare in reliability, owner satisfaction, and road-test performance, see our brand report cards. Guide to Car Brands Here we list each major car brand and its parent corporation—Brand: Parent Company—including some retired brands whose products are still readily available as used cars. Acura: Honda Motor Company Afeela: Sony Honda Mobility Alfa Romeo: Stellantis Audi: Volkswagen Group BMW: BMW Group Bentley: Volkswagen Group Buick: General Motors Cadillac: General Motors Chevrolet: General Motors Chrysler: Stellantis Defender: JLTata Motors Discovery: JLTata Motors Dodge: Stellantis Fiat: Stellantis Fisker: Fisker Inc. Rolls-Royce: BMW Group Saab*: brand owned by Saab AB; assets owned by National Electric Vehicle Sweden Saturn*: General Motors Scion*: Toyota Motor Corp. Scout: Volkswagen AG. Smart: Daimler AG Subaru: Subaru Corp. Suzuki*: Suzuki Motor Corp. Owns a small stake in Toyota. Tesla: Tesla Inc. Toyota: Toyota Motor Corp. VinFast: VinGroup Volkswagen: Volkswagen AG. Volvo: Zhejiang Geely Holding Group *Retired brand, but many are still sold as used cars. Guide to Car Corporations Here’s a list of the major car corporations that sell in the U.S. and the brands they currently offer here. BMW Group owns BMW, Mini, and Rolls-Royce. Daimler AG owns Mercedes-Benz and Smart. Fisker Inc. owns Fisker, reborn electric car brand that has partnered with Magna-Steyr to build its vehicles. Ford Motor Co. owns Ford and Lincoln. General Motors owns Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. Hummer returned as a GMC sub-brand. GM has a formal partnership with Honda to co-develop EVs. Honda Motor Co. owns Acura and Honda. It is partners with GM. And it formed an electric car company with Sony, called Sony Honda Mobility that has the Afeela brand. Hyundai Motor Group owns Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia. Mazda Motor Corp. owns Mazda. Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance owns Infiniti, Mitsubishi, and Nissan. Rivian Automotive owns Rivian, an electric car company focused on SUVs and trucks. Stellantis is the corporation formed from the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Peugeot S.A. merger. The name is explained as being rooted in the Latin verb “stello” meaning “to brighten with stars.” The FCA brands sold in the U.S. are now under Stellantis: Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, and Ram. Overseas, Citroen, DS Automobiles, Opel, Peugeot, and Vauxhall are among the other Stellantis car brands. Subaru Corp. owns Subaru. Tata Motors owns JLR (formerly known as Jaguar and Land Rover). Going forward, its brands are Jaguar, Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery. Tesla owns Tesla. Toyota Motor Corp. owns Lexus and Toyota. And it has a stake in Subaru and Suzuki. VinGroup owns the VinFast automotive brand, as well as VinHomes, VinBigData, VinBioCare, and VinBrain. Volkswagen AG owns Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Scout, and Volkswagen. Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (ZGH) owns Lotus, Polestar, and Volvo. Source: consumerreports submitted by khoafraelich789 to CarInformationNews [link] [comments] |

2023.06.05 03:53 khoafraelich789 Which brand of car is most reliable? These are the most dependable vehicles on the market

Kia, Buick and Chevrolet are some of your best nonpremium bets, according to a new report from J.D. Power. The analytics company's annual vehicle dependability study found 186 problems per 100 vehicles on average, a slight improvement from last year’s score of 192. A year-over-year improvement is expected as manufacturers learn from past mistakes, according to Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power. "This means as many consumers are keeping their vehicles for a longer period of time they can expect less issues than they have in the past," he told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. "Looking at what models are holding up over time before purchasing is the best way to avoid problems in the long run." Car insurance:Car prices may fall this year, but auto insurance will cost more. Here's why. Recalls:Honda, Kia, Volkswagen among 67,000 latest vehicles on recall The study, released Thursday, looked at how 2020 model-year cars are performing in terms of quality, appeal and component replacement. The findings are based on responses from more than 30,000 owners fielded in August through November 2022. What is the most dependable car brand? Here are the brand rankings based on the number of problems per 100 vehicles, according to J.D. Power’s 2023 U.S. vehicle dependability study. The industry average is 186. Lexus: 133 Genesis: 144 Kia: 152 Buick: 159 Chevrolet: 162 Mitsubishi: 167 Toyota: 168 Hyundai: 170 Mini: 170 Nissan: 170 Dodge: 172 Cadillac: 173 Mazda: 174 GMC: 175 BMW: 184 Ram: 189 Jeep: 196 Honda: 205 Infiniti: 205 Porsche: 208 Acura: 211 Subaru: 214 Volvo: 215 Volkswagen: 216 Chrysler: 226 Jaguar: 229 Mercedes-Benz: 240 Ford: 249 Audi: 252 Lincoln: 259 Land Rover: 273 The highest-ranking premium brand was Lexus, and Kia was the highest-ranking mass market brand. Mass market brands had a better overall score than premium brands. The gap between the two has been growing, probably because premium brands are the first to roll out new features and offer more technology. Car recalls:Honda recalls 114,000 Fit, HR-V models over back-up camera issue What is the most dependable car model? The Toyota C-HR and Lexus RX were tied for the highest-ranked models for dependability in the study, each with 111 problems per 100 cars. J.D. Power declined to share findings on the least dependable models. What are the most dependable cars and SUVs? According to J.D. Power’s survey, here are the most dependable models per segment. Compact car: Kia Forte, followed by the Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra. Compact premium car: BMW 4 Series, followed by the Volvo S60 and BMW 3 Series. Compact sporty car: Mini Cooper. Midsize car: Kia Optima, followed by the Chevrolet Malibu and Ford Fusion. Compact SUV: Kia Sportage, followed by Buick Envision and Jeep Cherokee. Compact premium SUV: Lexus NX, followed by Cadillac XT4 and BMW X3. Large SUV: Chevrolet Tahoe, followed by GMC Yukon. Midsize SUV: Chevrolet Blazer, followed by Hyundai Santa Fe and Ford Edge. Midsize premium SUV: Lexus RX, followed by Lexus GX. Small SUV: Toyota C-HR, followed by Buick Encore and Chevrolet Trax. Small premium SUV: BMW X2, followed by Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1. Upper midsize SUV: Toyota Highlander, followed by Kia Sorento and Toyota 4Runner. Upper midsize premium SUV: BMW X5, followed by Cadillac XT6 and Volvo XC90. Large heavy-duty pickup: Chevrolet Silverado HD. Large light-duty pickup: GMC Sierra, followed by Toyota Tundra. Midsize pickup: Toyota Tacoma, followed by Chevrolet Colorado. Minivan: Toyota Sienna, followed by Kia Sedona. What are some common problems? The study looks at 184 specific problem areas across nine categories, including driving assistance, infotainment, seats, exterior and interior. The survey found infotainment systems were the most problematic, with drivers reporting issues with voice recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, built-in Bluetooth systems and touch screens. Overall, the category averaged about 50 problems per 100 cars – almost twice as many as exterior, the next highest category. 2023.06.04 05:23 MrEdLu Chevrolet Dealership recommendation
I'm looking to custom-order a Chevrolet Bolt from a dealer that participates in the NYS $2000 EV rebate. As per the
nyserda.ny.gov website, these are the participating dealerships.
- 112 Mazda Nesenger, Mazda 112, Hyundai 112, Chevrolet 112 - Medford
- Arnold Chevrolet Buick- West Babylon
- Atlantic Chevrolet Cadillac - Bayshore
- Atlantic Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram - West Islip
- Buzz Chew Chevrolet Cadillac Inc - Southampton
- Chevrolet of Huntington - Huntington
- Eagle Chevrolet of Riverhead - Riverhead
- Major World - Long Island City
- North Shore Chevrolet of Smithtown - Saint James
Is there any particular dealership on this list that is good? Any that I should avoid?
Update - June 7 I went to Arnolds yesterday to place an order. All went well until they informed me that I needed to put down a $1000 non-refundable deposit and they don't take credit cards. I'm okay with the deposit but getting that cash when tellers are closed was impossible. It would have been nice if they had mentioned it when making the appointment with me.
I'm going back today to place the order. At the time of delivery, I'll pay MSRP for the options that I want, plus the standard Tax, Tags, Title, and registration fee. The only dealer-added fee is the ~$180 document fee.
The dealer did mention that the $2000 NYS EV rebate is only available while the program is funded. If funding runs out before my Bolt arrives, I'll have to pay the full price or forfeit my $1000 deposit.

Bills:
I also also checked their website. Not a single player or member of their coaching staff named “Bill”. Closest that I could find was a team photographer and an assistance grounds keeper named Bill.
I’ve heard theories that the team name is a reference to a frontiersmen from the 1800’s that is buried in Colorado.
I even googled “Bill” and viewed images and the results were pretty unmistakable. The only images that I saw were a bunch of dudes named Bill and some stock images of invoices for goods or services. I don’t know what you expect me to do in this situation.
I guess we may never know the truth.
Kansas City:
I checked their official website and lots of marketing materials, and ALL of them refer to Kansas City as the Chiefs. I didn’t find anything that referred to the team as the Kansas City Wolves. Maybe that’s a Missouri thing and there’s another team on the Kansas side that I don’t know about or something?

Mechanic fixed rear diff click 500$ Dealership “ran over something in the road” as they were testing the car Back right tire about fell off after they put that tire back on after they replaced it It’s had a steady bump in it driving since that happened Just got 4 new tires and an alignment, a fresh start
Back tires wear on the outside on my fixed rear diff, 65$ mechanic fee They say i had an after market lift kit that’s still half on with the oem parts mixed in so it’s throwing it off and they say my rear diff is bent causing it to be out of camber
59k miles on it so the dealer should be able to warranty it, right???
I just want my jeep stock like I thought it was when i got it, but the dealership literally wouldn’t fix anything that was happening to it whenever i bring it to them.
