Looking for veterinarians within Rochester, for my cat and my leopard gecko so I can maintain vaccinations and have a rapport if unforeseen health issues come up.
I don’t drive (legally blind) so it needs to be in/close enough to Rochester that I can do a short Uber or bus ride, or have a friend drive me without it being a huge inconvenience on them.
Places I’ve tried:
Cats & Critters (no new patients)
Petsmart down on Jefferson (not my favorite)
Lollypop farms recommended Midtown Vet Hospital (no reptiles)

2023.05.31 16:16 DJK33 Farm Animal rental for child's birthday party
Does anyone know if any local farms do kid parties? Ideally one that will bring an animal to your home to pet and feed.
My oldest daughter had a pony at her birthday party last year and my youngest daughter is really into "piggies". We'd love to have a pig to pet and feed at her party if possible.
I've done some googling and am aware we can go to lollypop farm or the Genesee Country Village. But ideally we'd love to be able to pay someone to bring a pig to us.
Also, I am aware of the Watkins Glenn Animal sanctuary, it's just too far.
I figured that being in upstate NY there would be a farm that would do somethign like this. Again, we're less interested in a petting zoo to visit vs. a company that will bring the animals to us.
Thanks for your help!

2023.04.07 20:19 Goodeggboi I Just Found Out About Free Pet Loss and End of Life Care Support @ Lollipop Farms
| Hey all, I was at the fancy old library building downtown and Lollipop Farms has a whole showcase in the lobby right now. That’s where I noticed this sign about a pet loss support group and thought “wow, what a great thing that I hope people know about.” I called them before making this post to ask a couple questions and they say it’s happening tomorrow 4/8 (The second Saturday of every month from 1pm - 3pm) & all you have to do is go online and register so they know how many people to expect. She also said there’s always at least 5 but up to 10 people each week who go. It’s completely free, I am sharing the link here in case anyone is going through losing their beloved pet or have the grief of just losing them. https://www.lollypop.org/services/end-of-life-resources/pet-loss-support-groups/ ALSO: If you aren’t a fan of group support/public, there are 2 pet loss support hotlines listed on the web page I linked. These are hotlines run by tufts and Cornell volunteer vet students trained by grief counselors!! Another great resource I had no clue existed. If you are thinking of going: the service rep I just spoke with said register on the website then when you get there to walk to the far left side of the building right in the corner where it’s two story. Alhough I myself am not currently experiencing the loss of a pet, I am no stranger to grief and know how important it is to have support. I am continuously pleasantly surprised at all the wonderful resources this area has to offer you if you just know where to look. Hopefully this reaches someone who could really use it right now. P.S. If you don’t already, I’m also using this post to remind us pet owners to use this beautiful & sunny ☀️ weekend to take at least one photo of your pet at their favorite place or playing with their favorite toy or just a family photo with them included to remember them by. Time flies and you’ll be so glad you took those photos as them may help you grieve one day. Love to you! 💞 submitted by Goodeggboi to Rochester [link] [comments] |

2023.03.19 23:47 cheesefriesparty Rabbit groomer in Rochester?
I just adopted an English Angora rabbit from Lollypop Farm. I'm an experienced rabbit owner and I have a rabbit specific vet (Cats & Critters on Somerton), but does anyone know of any rabbit groomers in the area? Google and Yelp searches were unhelpful. I can't take her to just any groomer without rabbit experience. I know I can take her to the vet too for this, but was wondering if there were any local businesses I could support.

2022.11.09 15:06 playful_unicorn Lollypop Farms - pay to volunteer?
I recently applied to volunteer at Lollypop Farms and I was shocked to learn that they charge a $40 fee for volunteer training. Is this new or common in Rochester? I moved here about a year ago and maybe it's a New York thing to ask volunteers to pay? I was never asked to pay for training when I volunteered in the past in my home state.

2022.07.24 22:48 eskieboy Service Dog lost
My neighbors in Fairport had their service dog escape yesterday - could be anywhere now. Here is the story from the trainer they just came back from after getting the dog. You can also contact Lollypop Farm if you find the dog.
23 JULY 2022 My name is David Baron. I am a service dog trainer in California. I trained a service dog for a girl who lives in Rochester, New York who suffers with the disease Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. She waited almost three years to get her dog to help her with the horrible pain and sickness she has. The girl and her mother flew to California last week to learn to handle the dog, and to pick it up to bring home. They left Sacramento to return to Rochester on Thursday 7/21/22. The dog was great on three different flights to Rochester and was able to not go to the bathroom for over 12 hours. This morning, Saturday 7/23/22, two days after returning to Rochester the girl put the dog outside in their yard in the morning, but within 10 minutes he escaped their yard. The family has contacted the Rochester Police and Animal Control, and have posted flyers that the dog was lost. They got a report that the dog was seen about a mile from their house in Rochester. The dog is a one year old Blue Merle Miniature Australian Shepherd named "Merlin." Please help find Merlin for the girl. She needs him. If anyone has seen or knows anything, or can help in any way, my organization Service Dog School of America is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the return of the Merlin, no questions asked. If you have seen Merlin or can help, please call me. David Baron (916)701-6458 cell

2022.06.24 18:56 lumpy_gravy Lollypop Farm Sunday the 26th: Mouse and rat adoptions!
Lollypop Farm has so many pet mice and rats they are willing to set you up with a cage, bedding and food to get you started. SUNDAY (Sunday!) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adoption fees are $5 for mousies and $10 for rattys. They make great first pets!
NB: Lollypop was "granted custody" of over 1,000 rats and mice. I can only suspect they came from a hoarder but I can't say for sure. Some have been housed together and would need to be adopted together.

2022.02.12 13:25 PrincessPuffyPantz Outdoor Activities for 1 y Old
Does anyone know if there is a farm animal shelter similar to Lollypop farm in the Syracuse area? I want to take my 1y son to visit but he is a little too young to handle the car ride to Rochester. If not does anyone know of outdoor activities that would be good to do with a 1 year old in the winter? We went to the zoo and he liked that despite not seeing many animals. Thanks!
