2023.03.25 05:39 seriouslyuncouth_ Discs not reading
I just got an original Xbox (not my first) and I opened it up to remove the clock capacitor + fix the stuck disc tray. I'm not normally the type to open up consoles, but I managed to get it all back together. The tray opens up fine now, but now no game will read. I don't even get an error message; after a short load, the console makes a quiet chirp and stops trying to read the disc. It just stays on the menu. Normally I wouldn't make a post asking for help but I've tried looking it up on Google and Reddit and can't find results for my specific problem. Any help would be appreciated, this community is awesome btw

2023.03.25 05:28 Hour-Loquat3236 Meta’s new hand tracking feature almost feels like touching the future
Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has introduced an experimental feature called “Direct Touch” that allows you to interact with virtual objects in VR without a controller. This new feature is included in the Quest v50 software update that is currently being rolled out. With Direct Touch, you can use your fingers to swipe up and down, press buttons, and even type on an onscreen keyboard.
However, the feature is still in its experimental phase and can be quite finicky. The Quest 2 uses external-facing cameras to track your hands, and in VR, you’ll see your hands as dark hand-like shadows. You can use these shadows to approximate when your hand will “touch” a menu or window in front of you. When you make “contact,” things will start to scroll or light up, but the scrolling can be jerky.
Typing with Direct Touch can be challenging as there is no physical place to rest your hands or fingers, making it hard to know what you’re typing. The UI sometimes thinks you pressed a different key than the one intended, making it frustrating to use for extended periods.
Despite its limitations, the idea of Direct Touch is extremely cool. Scrolling and tapping on virtual surfaces in VR makes you feel like you’re living out a sci-fi dream, even if your words-per-minute plummets by 99 percent, and your taps don’t work the way you expect. When Direct Touch works as intended, using your hands is more convenient than using the Quest’s controllers.
Direct Touch is still labeled as an experiment, and many built-in Quest apps are still not compatible with it. However, this technology could be a foundational upgrade to the Quest VR headset and Meta’s future AR glasses.
In conclusion, while Direct Touch may not be fully functional yet, it’s an exciting glimpse into the future of VR and AR technology. Even if it takes three times as long, it’s a lot cooler to accomplish tasks with your hands than with a controller.

2023.03.25 05:26 Southern-Bite6150 Every issue I have with bonelab
This will be a long post and will go over every single issue with bonelab note this is not to be taken as fact
- Mods
Bonelab was announced with many features, a big one being modding in game, while to a lot of people it is an easy task modding is not accessible to some people. to mod the game you have to link your headset to your pc, and edit a text file, just copy and paste. the issue is this shouldn’t have to be done, the in game mod browser should work without this having to be done, it should be ready to go from installation, and should have been since launch. after all it is a core feature and the only other ways to mod the game are harder than this, one needing a phone and the other a pc, where you manually install mods into the game, and there is no way to disable or uninstall mods in game so the only way to do it is to go into the files. and let’s not forget the navigation see when you get the in game mods working you think the hard part is over no it isn’t. see when you’re in the mod browser you can’t search, you can’t even loop from 1-last page. there are zero convenience features for the menu but when you finally start downloading mods, eventually you will hit a wall where you can’t download anymore mods, and the only way to fix this is to restart the game. Slz really put zero levels of stress into making this part of the game.
2.creating
Bonelab is a game about creating things, slz doesn’t seem to agree, but why do I say this? because you can’t save a game or any creations. so you can build a nullbody skeleton chimera, and you can build the biggest fort ever conceived, but you can’t save it. some people ask well what if slz just isn’t going for that, clearly that’s wrong because the campaign saves, and other game modes save scores, with saving games you could create your own story, and combined with bonelab fusion you could have a full scale dnd campaign. whole games could be recreated in bonelab. But what’s the point in a game about creating if you can’t save what you make
3.the snowball effect
So why is this section called the snowball effect, well because when little things add up they become a big thing. to start let’s say you download a 100% save mod well those progress meters in the void, they aren’t quite at 100% because it’s a mystery what they actually represent, and say you download a big map, well the nimbus gun only goes so fast and you would think just use two for double the speed the problem is, if you hold two they completely glitch out and send you flying in random directions. it isn’t only this tool either you can’t forget the board gun, because you better not try to make a board on something mid air, because it will just attach to the air and the object receiving the board oh, and if you attach one to your hand attaching boards to the air and another object makes behave as if it was still attached to your hand. avatars aren’t safe either because I find my self playing as a big avatar, then out of nowhere I just get flung all over the place. lastly the constrainer I still don’t know what entangle velocity does, and there are enough constraints for the average person however if you wanted to make a car or airship you can’t because of a lack of thrusters any hover devices or motors (to my knowledge)
Now I have given this game quite the shitting but I’m not saying it’s a bad game it just needs improvements

Go to Start Menu> Settings> Apps> Installed Apps and search for Windows Security
Click on the three dots next to Windows Security. Select Advanced Options.
Under the Advanced Options tab select Terminate. Then select the Repair option under Reset. Next select the option to Reset.
Reboot. It'll have reinstalled Webview and Teams. Delete Teams from the Installed Apps tab.
All should be well now. Don't know if we need to do this with every core update or not. Guess we'll find out.

2023.03.25 05:24 Stonley890 Problems with Davinci Resolve on Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon
Hello! I recently switched from Windows 11 to Linux Mint Cinnamon and so far I've had far fewer problems with it compared to Windows. The only frustration has been the software support. Most incompatible software I've managed to get working or find replacements for, but Davinci Resolve is the last one I need and I can't seem to find a solution to the exact problem I'm having.
For context, I'm using an RTX 3060 video card with the most recent driver available in the Driver Manager (nvidia-driver-525). I also have multimedia codecs installed (during initial installation). All software is up to date according to Update Manager.
I don't fully understand how different Linux distributions work, but apparently, Davinci Resolve is not compatible with Debian (and by extension Ubuntu and Mint). Thankfully, someone's written a script (and accompanying tutorial) to convert Resolve into a *.deb package:
https://www.danieltufvesson.com/makeresolvedeb I was able to follow the guide to install Resolve successfully and it appears in the application menu. For some reason, it cannot be launched by running the application, but for some reason, it
can be started via a script in the terminal (sudo /opt/resolve/bin/resolve). Could it have something to do with requiring a password when running the script? Being able to launch it from the application menu would be convenient, but not necessary if that's unrealistic.
Once I actually have Resolve open, there are no problems navigating the UI and I can even create Fusion Compositions in the Fusion Editor, but importing media is completely broken. MKV files (exported by OBS encoded as H.264) don't even appear in the media pool. I think I saw something about MOV files working, so I tried converting them to Quicktime MOV using WinFF (an FFMPEG GUI interface). They
can be imported, but when dragging it into the timeline, there is no video track and the lone audio track (there are supposed to be six) is completely silent.
I saw something about drivers but again, I have the latest one from the Driver Manager installed.
What can I do to make Davinci Resolve functional? Ideally, it would work exactly as on Windows, but even having to convert every video file would be acceptable as long as it works.
Although I would like to use Resolve, if it's not worth the effort to fix it, I'm not going to be terribly attached to Resolve and I can switch to a different editor, especially if just works better and offers similar features.
Below I've attached my system information. I'm new to Linux, so please be patient with me!

2023.03.25 05:24 BvHauteville Finally beat the Gauntlet of Strength: Severance
Started off with a bad omen as I had much more trouble with King Kong than I usually do but the other bosses went down easily enough and according to plan, as much as Owl tried (and failed) to thwart my efforts, until I finally reached Inner Isshin - the bane of my existence for the past week or so.
Funnily enough, I started this run just to show my friend some of the bosses, not expecting to win considering I had yet to prevail over Inner Isshin even in a gauntlet of strength. However, despite still struggling more than I would have liked on his first phase but not to the extent I had wasted too many resources, I used the Red Lump + Fine Snow + Empowered Mortal Blade combo to quickly plow through his second phase while still having two resurrects in reserve left via Jizo statues, one more usage of the Ceremonial Tanto, and a fine quantity of healing items. I realized at that point that this would likely be the run where I'd finally do it.
Isshin still gave me hell with his semiautomatic Sengoku-era pistol and lightning bending but after redirecting his lightning twice with Sakura Dance, he was down low enough in posture and health that with another Red Lump + Rice Ball + Empowered Mortal Blade usage would have been enough to finish him. I probably could have beat him without it by switching to the Empowered Mortal Blade and just rushing him but hoped to land another lightning reversal if possible just to seal the deal. After he forced my last resurrect as a result of a mismanaged dodge against his spear, I resorted to the combo and got him to his last death blow with a a single back-to-back hit from Empowered Mortal Blade.
I might not have beaten him via the most honorable methods but that can wait for another time as a Shinobi should know the difference between honor and victory and for me, getting that Tengu costume for NG+ was the definition of victory.

2023.03.25 05:22 Manhattan02 31 [M4F] USA/PA/Online - looking for my dork
Hey everyone! I’m 31 and living in PA. I’m relatively content, but I’m looking for a long-term relationship with someone, preferably in the US, to find that extra little something in life. A good friend told me the bar is low for men, so let’s do this.
Spark notes (about me):
- Good communicator
- Gamer. Let’s be nerds together.
- Liberal but not annoying about it
- Wants children
- Changing careers, so interesting times
- Is silly man
- White, has beard
- 5’9
- Solidly losing weight, but I’m happy with a dad bod. Don’t expect skinny.
Friendship is the best foundation, though I’m ultimately after something more serious with the right person — someone to make some amazing memories with. I’m not into hookups. I need an emotional connection and would love to be with someone who views intimacy in at least a somewhat-similar way.
I’m a nerd at heart, who loves entrenching himself in new random topics. I’m the type of trivia partner who may miss something seemingly easy but have you think “who are you, and why do you know that?” for the next answer lol. The reasoning: I got bored and looked up a random thing one night and kinda went crazy researching it. I’m a curious person.
I’m also very much into PC gaming and love spending time with my friends in Discord just having a good time. Even if we’re not actually playing something, hanging out and being social is important to me. Some of my favorite memories involve messing around on Jackbox games or other similar party games. For the first time, I’ve gotten into D&D, and, while I’m fairly extroverted in certain circles, its been such a fun chance to role play for a few hours every week. Otherwise, I play the usual FPS games like Overwatch 2, Valorant, and others. Hunt: Showdown has been my favorite lately, but I just like playing games with people I like, so let’s play something! I’m into any game that can be played with friends, especially survival games. Stardew is perfect. I’d love to hear about your interests! Mine aren’t limited to gaming. I love entrenching myself in a good show or movie (Everything Everywhere All at Once was a masterpiece!), reading, writing, and spending time in nature. Oh, and I love football!
As far as romance goes, I can’t say enough about how important it is for me to be with an open communicator. I find it hard to click with someone who is shut off or avoidant. Please don’t reach out if you’re not over an ex. It takes time to heal, so do yourself a solid and take the time you need. I’m not a rebound, physically or emotionally; I’ve had a bad experience there, if it wasn’t painfully obvious lol. I’m not interested in sharing my love either. Monogamous only. I’m looking for someone to share all the silly stupid thoughts with. I want someone to feel comfortable enough to lean on me when things are hard. I’m a caregiver at heart, and I love showing my love through affirming words and touch. I’m a passionate romantic, and I’m hoping to find someone who is comfortable in giving those sorts of things too. I’m looking for a teammate in every sense. I crave a deep love and connection but won’t force it with the wrong person.
Speaking of touch, one potential dealbreaker could be a lack of it to start. I’m actually not even a real huma…sorry, I’m stupid. But, for real, distance is something I’m fine with to start, so I’m hoping to find someone who is also ok with that. I’m not tied to any location, aside from being in the US, however, this is a challenging time for me as I’m going through a career change. I have plenty of room for a relationship, but I’m taking time to take some classes and transition into a masters program in a completely different field from what I’m used to. I’m down to move anywhere down the road, so no issue there. I’ll also be in a field where remote work is becoming the norm. I’ve been in a long distance relationship before, and I’m a great communicator. I do my best to be close to my partner despite the gap. I hope you enjoy good morning and goodnight texts or calls :)
Physically, I’m 5’9” and about 265 lbs, though that second stinky number is going down as I get back to my old weight. A more muscular dad-bod type is what I’m after again. If super skinny is the only option for you, that won’t be me lol. I’m white, and I rock the bald with a beard look pretty well, I’d say. I’m down to exchange photos early. I really don’t have a set type, but I definitely prefer being the taller one. Oh, a big one! I love voice chats. Voices are a big source of my attraction.
It’s so hard for me to capture my humor while I’m trying to describe myself, but it’s a huge part of who I am. I like being a dork, and I really enjoy bonding over laughter. Even at my worst moments, I’m looking for ways to make my friends laugh. If I’m struggling to smile, I make sure they’re having an easy time doing so. Witty humor and silly behavior steals my heart. Also, I’m not politically correct by any means, but I think offensive shock-value jokes are boring when they rely on blatant bigotry.
My dealbreakers:
Conservatives: We just see the world differently. My views most closely aligned with Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders during the previous election cycle.
Smokers, drug users, heavy drinkers: I don’t have an issue with weed as long as it’s not your personality. No issue at all with medicinal use. Life is stressful and anxiety-inducing; do your thing. Let’s have an edible and watch bad movies. Anything past that is a little much, though microdosing does sound interesting to me.
Bigots: You can do anything. You can order sushi and pizza at the same time, and you’re busy hating someone because of their skin? Their gender? Because they don’t want titties anymore? Buddy..
In case you needed more reason to not like me, here’s a few more to tie up any loose ends!
Potential dealbreakers for you:
I’d like to be a father one day, but I’m not interested in anyone who already has kids. I’m simply not ready for that at the moment.
I have ADHD with can lead to issues with anxiety. For a while I didn’t know why I felt the way I did — like a waste of potential despite doing very well in academics. Now I manage well with medication, but I’m still learning how to accept this fairly recent diagnosis and am embracing the process. I think it makes me quite fun, but maybe my enthusiasm about wanting to dive into new topics and people can be a bit much.
This post got pretty long, but I like being thorough. Maybe you enjoyed learning about me. Tell me about yourself, if you’re interested. I’ll read every word. I can’t wait to hear from you :)

2023.03.25 05:22 StepwiseUndrape574 Grand Theft Auto V Loads Up To 92 Percent Faster On PS5 Than PS4 In Early Tests
Grand Theft Auto V is notable for all kinds of reasons. It's the most expensive video game ever made, and also one of the very most successful, by any measure. It sold so well that Rockstar kept the online service for the 7th-generation (PS3 and Xbox 360) releases of the game going from release in 2013 until late last year. It had moved over 150 million copies as of last August, in fact.
That number has surely gone up since then, and it's probably going to continue going up for years to come thanks to the updated re-release that's now available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. We've already written about what's included in the re-release, but the short version is that it adds higher-quality assets, ray-traced lighting, and 60 FPS options to the exclusively-30-FPS console releases.
ssd sony ps5 2
Unfortunately, another notable aspect of GTA V is its interminable loading times, especially on the consoles. Well, arguably the biggest change this console generation has been the move to solid-state storage instead of the spinning rust used previously. Both families of 9th-generation game consoles support disk I/O tens of thousands of times faster than the 8th-generation consoles.
Naturally the new release of GTA V reaps the benefits of that in its load times. Over at IGN, they put the new release through its paces and found that load times are drastically improved across the board. Selecting "replay mission" can find load times as much as 75% faster on the new system, while loading autosaves was slashed from over two minutes to around 20 seconds on Sony's latest machine.
ign gtav ps5 loading
As showcased in IGN's video, the difference upon starting a new game is even more mind-blowing. On the PlayStation 4, it took 2 minutes and 18 seconds to load from the menu to the new-game heist sequence. Performing the same operation on the PlayStation 5 took just eleven seconds. The player was able to get halfway through the mission on the PS5 by the time the older system finished loading.
We feel it's likely that this enormous improvement isn't merely the work of the fancy SSD, but also that of the PS5's potent Zen 2 CPU cores as well as some software optimizations. Players of GTA Online may recall that an enterprising developer found a simple optimization (arguably, a bugfix) that slashed loading times by 75%. Rockstar even paid out a bug bounty to the developer.
We still haven't heard back from Rockstar on when or if these improvements will be finding their way to the PC version of the game, nor whether there will be a charge for the update if they do. It seems likely that Rockstar is gauging the playerbase's reaction to such a thing. You can pick up the refreshed release on PS5 for $10 right now, or on Xbox Series XS for $20, but both prices will rise to $40 after three months, so get while the getting's good if you're not willing to wait a few years for GTA 6.

2023.03.25 05:21 Legitimate_Pipe_1112 how soon is “too soon” to kiss someone? (16F and 15M)
I (16F) started talking to a boy (15M) about almost a month ago. He’s a grade below me and we’ve always liked each other for a while before we even started talking, but none of us spoke to each other until about 3 weeks ago.
Since then, we’ve gotten along pretty well and our conversations have always lasted for hours on end. We’ve even spent so many nights staying up till 3 AM talking about pretty deep stuff that we’d never really tell anyone. And maybe it’s a little soon, but we’ve already openly admitted that we like each other. He’s really sweet and doesn’t seem like a player, like this is his first talking stage and this is my second 😅
So today was our first date and we both had a pretty good time. We went to an arcade, got sushi, and bought boba afterwards. Towards the end, we were then sitting together kinda cuddling on this empty balcony. We were just talking and got pretty comfy lol. He kissed me on the cheek, then i kissed his as well. Then he asked if it was okay to kiss me and so we did. We both had our first ever kiss there, and it kinda lasted for a couple mins. Then we went back down afterwards and carried on with our date.
TL;DR - How soon would you consider “too soon” to kiss someone? Is it too soon to kiss someone on the first date when u spoke to the person for almost a month? This was both of our first kiss, like ever.

2023.03.25 05:15 Monsieurabsurd S23 dark mode not as dark as s10e
(I use dark mode all the time) So I turned my s10e back on today to check some information and noticed that every apps background is much darker, as well as the settings menu.
My s23 is more dark grey and my s10 is almost completely black. I took screenshots on both devices to post and compare, but when viewing the s10 screenshots on my s23, they are dark grey and s23 screenshots viewed on my s10 are more black. Everything is identical in respect to which phone they are being viewed on, so posting the screenshots would be pointless because they look exactly the same.
I was thinking maybe it was a theme setting or something but it just seems that the s10 displays everything much darker. Which I like much more. Is this just the nature of the displays or is there a setting a can change to make things more dark/black like my s10?
Hopefully this makes sense.

2023.03.25 05:14 gsjones358 Got this zenith but the color sucks. All I have is red and green in the settings menu no blue. Any advice on how to fix it? I have the service menu pulled up but it doesn’t have any options. This is the only cry I could find so I’m kinda sad. Serial number is 421-03360486z
2023.03.25 05:12 dipswitch24 Enter a password for Secure Boot. It will be asked again after a reboot
I install a VM of the minimal Ubuntu server 22 with the discrete GPU passed to it. Since I installed the minimal Ubuntu configuration, didn't come with any desktop. I've been SSH into it to do stuff. When I go to the VM's console menu in proxmox webUI, it saids NoVNC. Is that normal? Is it because I didn't install the configuration with a desktop?
Now I'm trying to install the GPU driver for it and the driver asks for Secure Boot password. I don't really know it. I'd like to just disable secure boot, but since I don't have any boot up screen, I can't disable secure boot.
Is there any way out of this pickle? Or do I have to install Ubuntu again.
*I'm unsure if the lack of a console was because I did the minimal Ubuntu install, or if I messed something up when doing GPU passthrough. The whole secure boot thing seems kinda useless for a VM. I don't know how to avoid turning it on during install.

2023.03.25 05:09 zeldaslasher Issues with Fullscreen mode
I am using the xmb menu with a Volcanic Red background color. Every time I use full screen, however, I get a blue tint over the image that ruins how the image looks When I look into the settings to see if the background color has changed, I see that I still have volcanic red as the default. This only affects fullscreen mode. When I go back to windowed mode, the blue tint goes away. Anyone know what this is happening and what I can do to change it? For the record I am using a portable version of Retroarch with the latest stable release.

2023.03.25 05:09 Amiculi Installed Battlenet through Lutris, it's been fine until today (of course)
For whatever reason, as of today, Battlenet won't launch in game mode or through steam in desktop mode.
It was totally fine up until today, it ran Diablo 2 Resurrected without issues, and I was able to install the D4 beta this morning, but then this evening I go to play it and when I boot it up, it just goes to the generic steamdeck app start screen for a few seconds, then closes and nothing happens.
Another weird thing is after it does that once, the proton settings in the properties menu becomes inaccessible and no longer shows my currently selected proton version.
I've tried rebooting, full screening battlenet when launched through Lutris in desktop mode, deleting and recreating the steam shortcut, changing Proton versions, disabling proton override etc etc. Just nothing seems to work.
Any suggestions that aren't reinstalling the whole damn thing?
