2023.06.08 23:38 AirOx88 Does This CSR + Amex Platinum Combo Logic Make Sense?

I was trying to choose between Chase Sapphire Reserve and Amex Platinum, but am wondering does it make sense to do both?
Specifically, I would like to take advantage of Amex Platinum’s hotel and car rental gold elite status’ for discounts when booking. But I recognize CSR can give you more than double the points on hotel and car reservations, and more on flights too.
The AMEX platinum I decided can essentially pay for itself for me between $240 in streaming + $200 hotel credit + $200 Uber + $189 Clear credit. But again, to maximize the points I’d like to pay through CSR. Does that make sense or am I wrong in assuming you can combine those gold tier hotel membership with paying through a separate card?
I’m new to trying to advance my credit card benefits, so sorry if that’s is a dumb question or I’m missing another combination like this.

2023.06.08 23:35 Broke_n_Brooklyn Worth getting a card for a single trip this month?

I don't have any CC that has any perks. Until recently I've exclusively used debit cards. I don't "need" credit.
End of this month I need to fly from NYC to Dallas for my sisters wedding. I'm taking my mother. I'm also covering a lot of expenses for this wedding.
So 2 round trip flights, hotel, rental car, uber or lyft in NYC for the airport. I personally always just take the subway but I'm not doing that with luggage to the airport.
I was thinking to walk into my local Chase for the Sapphire Preferred. My score might be a just about right for it. However I'm reading you can't get the premium Chase card without first having one of the others? I also had an old charged off Chase card from about 15 years ago (family member opened it in my name without telling me) according to a branch manager last time I tried and was denied a Chase card about 6 months ago. My credit score has gone up about 100 points since then.
I currently hold a C1 Platinum, and can probably do a product upgrade to one of there other cards. Venture ? Savor? Savor one?
I also have a US Bank Harley card, it was an old secured card that just went unsecured. I'm not certain if I can do a product change within US Bank, if I can with a soft inquiry I was thinking one of the Altitude cards.
I'm at 4\24 right now. I'll be at 2\24 in a few months. Which is why I was thinking to go for a Chase card right now.
Thoughts?

2023.06.08 23:33 ehvenga Hired a car from Chennai. Driver took photos of my sisters(24yo & 16yo). Cab Service is harrasing me to return the phone and pay driver beta.

We hired a car from Chennai, I called a number from Google ads. The cab service themselves didn't have the car we wanted available, so contracted a third party driver.
Later during shopping in Bangalore, the nosy driver kept coming with us. My parents didn't tell him to go away since they thought it might hurt his feelings treating him like a driver. He tried alot to be friendly and warm, and we thought the same of him till the shop manager came and made a fuss about the driver taking pics.
So they checked his phone and he has taken pictures of my sisters from day 1 in Tanjore, has been taking pics of them for 5 days. Around 30-40pics, few just gross zoom ins.
My parents are quite easily frightened and we had to be in chennai for tomorrow. Despite me begging them to ditch the cab and taking another, they insisted we finish the trip.
I took his phone, and kept it. On returning home, the owner and cab service wanted me to return the phone, and I told I won't pay beta, and minus the money we gave him from the car rental.
Note that the owner was very nice till we got in the car, and kept saying please help me bring the car back. Now the owner is harrasing me to pay the beta and return the phone, and naming a collector and is being rude to my mom.
I did loose it at one point and scream at the owner when he was rude to my mom, didn't abuse him though. Should I go to the cops or pay up, can IAS officers actually invalidate our case and get me in trouble for keeping the phone and refusing to pay driver beta.
I settled the car rental + toll + their special hill climbing diesel charges.

2023.06.08 23:27 Ok-Decision403 Enterprise car rental - huge cost for windscreen chip?

Can anyone advise me? Two months ago, I returned a rental car to Enterprise, and there was a very small chip to the windscreen that I hadn't noticed: about an eighth the size of a 5p piece about one inch from the top of the windscreen, which was picked up on the return check.
Leaving aside the fact they've drawn it out to nearly ten weeks, they've come back today with a cost of over £600 to repair it. Obviously, if I had noticed, I'd have taken it to be filled for forty quid (I'm aware this is not permitted, but, sadly Enterprise are the only option where I live, and I do periodically need to rent a car.) - do I have any legal recourse to challenge this?
(I have excess insurance - it's the fact that this feels very gougey Indeed, coupled with their f- ing about for weeks on end, and as though they've had a new windscreen on me: the manager even said to me, "we have to take the £1000, but it won't be more than a few hundred at the very, very most, and you should get your refund in a week or two".)
I realise that I likely have to suck it up but I just wanted to know if I have any legal options as well.
TL:DR very small windscreen chip has been charged at over £600- any recourse?

2023.06.08 23:24 Direct_Canary4523 Just trying to find a place

I've seen the lists, here and elsewhere, I've made the calls. I've trawled Craigslist and the Marketplace and tried Zillow etc and I check the covet sponsored Maine myhousing listings as well as CL every hour or so. I have made posts, asked for a little help, gone down every avenue I can find. I am not a high enough priority on wait lists to make any real headway without further extenuating circumstances. I am in contact with help organizations local to this area but the previously mentioned apply to this, the waiting lists or prices for rentals are insurmountable it seems. I don't think any nearby shelter offers dog-friendly accommodation, nor is surrendering the dogs an option at all and I am not further entertaining conversation about the topic. We have air conditioning in the car, and as much as it sucks at least there is plenty of open space nearby for us to roam around outside if we are car camping. I can't afford it at the moment but if I can locally find a campground with basic amenities that isn't overpriced for tourism and it comes to that for me to keep my job or have a place to sleep temporarily I will make that happen, but would rather not. If I can't find a living space and be able to continue working full time I won't be able to correct my negative bank account and will end up losing my phone plan, etc, which obviously is something I would like to keep in this situation.
Clearly living locally is not really amongst available options, or at least I have spent countless hours unsuccessfully searching and being inundated with rental scam attempts.
Since I work for Hannaford I can transfer anywhere with open position and this season they are usually looking for all the employees they can scoop up. Moving has been on the table, but I stayed locally because up until today/tomorrow morning I wanted to try and keep this job and live locally, and had temporary shelter until now. Though I have been in touch with 211 and local resources I hadn't declared actual homelessness yet, as I hadn't been yet and was hopeful as wells as not wanting to take potential services from someone who might not immediately have a roof available. Tomorrow I will have no choice but to make that call without any further opportunities occuring.
Does anyone have/know of a room/apartment to rent in relative vicinity to a Hannaford, perhaps, just within reasonable driving distance, for a simple and quiet dogdad and his two spoiled babies? We don't bother anyone as I don't have any friends really, and prefer to keep to myself with the dogs. Initial rent costs are not a problem so I would have time to settle and adjust and complete the Hannaford transfer, which they do fairly quickly in my experience.
I just want a place to live, I was sorta avoiding moving 4 hours north, and even if I do I haven't found anything but scams.

2023.06.08 23:17 mr_greenmash Balkan road trip

Hello, I'm going on a Balkan road trip for about 3 weeks (+/- 2 days).
I'll probably start from Bratislava (but I'm open to other options), and I've been thinking of 3 options.
1) go to Romania and Bulgaria, then Albania and north along the coast.
2) go through "central balkans" eastern Croatia, Serbia, north Macedonia and north along the coast
3) go south along the coast towards Greece, and a similar route back.
What would you recommend? I'd like about to see historic sights, be along the coast for a while, sleep comfortably, travel safely and ideally at a low cost (why I try to avoid the eurozone this year).
Also, what rental car companies are decent? I have good experience with Hertz and Avis in the US, and mediocre experience with Europcar in Switzerland.

While Paramount has announced no streaming plans at this time, big-budget blockbusters like Transformers: Rise of the Beasts typically become available on streaming roughly ninety days after their theatrical run begins. Given that the Transformers franchise rights currently belong to Paramount Pictures, it's more than likely that we'll see the next Transformers film come to Paramount+ once the movie decides to indulge in a streaming release. While not every film from the franchise is currently available on the service, it's hard to imagine that Paramount wouldn't put a big recent release like this onto their own service.
No, Transformers Rise of the Beasts is not yet streaming, so you’ll need to zoom your way to the nearest cinema if you want to see it. Transformers Rise of the Beasts is too busy shaking cinema walls to be on Netflix just yet. But we’ll keep an eye on the streamer’s catalog and let you know if the new Transformers outing does show up in the future. The streaming giant has a massive catalog of television shows and movies, but it does not include 'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.' We recommend our readers watch other dark fantasy films like 'The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.'
Is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts coming to Disney Plus?
Transformers Rise of the Beasts is not on Disney Plus, and we doubt it will end up there any time soon. The new Transformers movie is a Paramount production, so it’s not likely to end up on the streaming arm of a rival studio. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the latest installment in the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts franchise, is coming to Disney+ on July 9th! The simple answer is, probably not, since Paramount Pictures make “Transformers” films, and so this means that the new movie will be streaming exclusively on Paramount+, following a theatrical and digital release.
However, the previous “Transformers” films are spread around a number of different streaming services, depending on what country you are in, due to long-running contracts between the studios and streaming platforms.
Is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts on Amazon Prime?

However, the film may eventually release on the platform as video-on-demand in the coming months.fantasy movies on Amazon Prime's official website. Viewers who are looking for something similar can watch the original show 'Dororo.'
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Will Stream On Paramount+
Transformers: Rise of the Beast is expected to be available to watch via streaming on Paramount Plus by September 9, 2023. Paramount+ is where Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will stream upon its release. Paramount has been in charge of the Transformers movie franchise since it began in 2007 and thus is responsible for releasing every entry in theaters. While the studio might have previously sent its movies to other streaming services like Netflix, the shift to focus more on the development of its own streaming service Paramount+ has changed this tactic. That is why Paramount has released its other major recent blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick or Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves on Paramount+ after their theatrical runs conclude.
Want to know how to watch the Transformers movies in order before Rise of the Beasts roars into theaters? You've come to the right place. The seventh entry in Paramount Pictures' Transformers film franchise arrives in cinemas worldwide on Friday, June 9, so you don't have much time left to watch its predecessors at home. But, if you're planning to cram them all in before catching Transformers: Rise of the Beasts this weekend, we're here to help you work out how to watch them in chronological and release date order, and we'll also tell you which of the world's best streaming services have them as part of their movie libraries.
So, if you're ready to be reunited with Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and company – and get the lowdown on every Transformers film to be released so far – read on.
Here's How and Where You Can Watch All of the Transformers movies
The best place to start is finding out where you can watch all of the Transformers movies in order in the comfort of your own home. If you're subscribed to Paramount Plus, that's your answer – well, for five of the six films, anyway. Paramount's primary streaming platform is home to the Michael Bay-directed trilogy – Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The streamer's film library is also home to the two Mark Wahlberg-starring flicks, Transformers: Age of Extinction and Transformers: The Last Knight.
● Transformers (released on July 3, 2007)
● Revenge of the Fallen (released on June 24, 2009)
● Dark of the Moon (released on June 29, 2011)
● Age of Extinction (released on June 27, 2014)
● The Last Knight (released on June 21, 2017)
● Bumblebee (released on Dec. 21, 2018)
Potential users looking to watch this quintet of movies will want to check out our Paramount Plus price guide to see how much it costs to sign up. Alternatively, you can get the lowdown on whether a Paramount Plus free trial is available, so you can try the service out without paying any money to stream the movies. Unfortunately for Paramount Plus UK and Australian-based users, the sixth entry in the action sci-fi franchise, 2018's Bumblebee, isn't available on British shores as part of the package.
US subscribers can catch Bumblebee on Paramount Plus (and Fubo, for what it's worth), but UK and Australian fans will have to look elsewhere to get the full Transformers movies in order experience. Here's where UK and Australian viewers can watch Bumblebee instead:
● Australia – rent or buy via the Amazon, Apple TV Google Play, Microsoft, or YouTube stores
● UK – rent or buy via the Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play, Microsoft, Rakuten, Sky, or YouTube stores
Will Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Be On HBO Max?
No, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will not be on HBO Max since it’s not a Paramount Pictures movie. Last year, the company released its films in theaters and on the streamer on the same day. However, they now allow a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the streaming release.
Disney may have made billions with last year’s mega-blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water, but for now it’s going to share the streaming success. The Steven Caple Jr. directed sequel is coming to streaming on September 11 and though the film was distributed by Disney, Disney+ won’t be the only place to see it. You can see it there as well as Max, aka HBO Max.
Is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Available On Hulu?
Viewers are saying that they want to view the new animation movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. It will be exclusive to the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.
No, 'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' is unavailable on Hulu. People who have a subscription to the platform can enjoy 'Afro Samurai Resurrection' or 'Ninja Scroll.'

When Will Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Be on DVD and Blu-ray?
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will likely be coming to DVD and Blu-ray around the same time as the streaming release. With theatrical films, on average, coming to streaming sooner than ever (usually ninety days after theatrical release), we'll likely see Transformers: Rise of the Beasts get a DVD, and Blu-ray release no later than Fall 2023. Transformers Rise of the Beasts isn’t on Blu-ray yet but will join the rest of the franchise on disc before the end of 2023. There are plenty of fancy releases and box sets of the other Transformers movies, so we’re sure this one will be available to buy in all of its 4K glory very soon.

What Transformers: Rise of the Beasts About:
Optimus Prime and the Autobots take on their biggest challenge yet. When a new threat capable of destroying the entire planet emerges, they must team up with a powerful faction of Transformers known as the Maximals to save Earth. For a while, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts looked like it might be another Bumblebee--a Transformers movie that lacks any of the pizzazz of the Michael Bay flicks but which actually tells a decent story about characters you actually care about. For the first 45 minutes to an hour, we get the most compelling and relatable version yet of the story about a regular person accidentally becoming friends with an alien robot who was secretly a car. But then the plot really kicks in, and suddenly we're watching a Michael Bay Transformers movie--but without Bay's skill as an action filmmaker.
It’s a tale as old as time: A human character stumbles upon a group of Transformers that includes Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) and Bumblebee (voiceless yet again), and gets roped into their battle with an evil faction, which inevitably involves a race for a piece of Transformers tech that has the power to destroy the world.

2023.06.08 22:32 ThrowRA_some_major I [36m] don't want my wife's [33f] parents to visit our children.

I [36m] don't want my parents-in-law to visit my children anymore after they victim-blamed my foster child.
A bit of background: My foster son was placed with my brother-in-law first. But I had a gut feeling that my BIL was, at the very least, being inappropriate with him and, at worst, abusing him. I made a post on another sub a couple of weeks ago and some comments told me to just be there for him so I started to work to provide an emotionally safe place for him and kept on treating him like my nephew. But one time after I took him and my children to the movie theater, he waited for my children to get out of the car before he tried to unzip my zipper, I quickly stopped him, and I believe he might have confused my intentions, when I stopped him he looked at me confused and embarrassed before he started to apologize profusely. He told me that he thought that's what I wanted. I asked him if anyone has ever asked him to do that but he swore no one had.
I was already worried about him but after that incident, my worries only intensified even more. I kept a close eye on him, kept telling him that he could tell me anything, and if he ever needed any help I was going to be there for him. Life had been pretty normal aside from that incident, my BIL and he kept visiting us and we would have brunch with everyone on Sundays. For Memorial's weekend, we went on a short vacation and we shared a rental again, I kept a close eye on FS, he seemed to be having plenty of fun and was enjoying the vacation. There was one time when BIL and FS went out to get a treat with just the two of them and when they came back FS's behavior was different for a short time before he went back to spend time with my children. I pointed out to my wife that I found it strange how his behavior would change every time they would go out somewhere by themselves but my wife told me to drop it and that was FS being a typical teenager.
But everything changed last week right after Memorial weekend, my BIL was arrested for the distribution of CP and CSA. We were asked if FS could move in with us and we agreed. Things have tense within the family. But we all are trying to survive and process what has been going on
My parents-in-law came to visit this Tuesday, and while we were having dinner, my MIL said how much she missed her son, I found the conversation inappropriate since FS was right there and I interrupted her, but after I interrupted her, she said to the table that her son would be with us if FS hadn't seduced him. I had a conversation with her about how that was inappropriate and harmful, but she kept talking about how she knew "that boy" was going to be trouble the moment she met him. She's convinced FS is lying and she said that "those children are known to lie to manipulate."
After that, I told my wife I don't want them to visit anymore because it wouldn't be fair for FS and how it's now our job to protect him and be there for him. But my wife says that would be too far and unfair for her parents since they are too trying to process what just happened and it wouldn't be fair to keep them from their grandchildren.
I think it would be great if my parents-in-law would work on themselves before they are around our children. I'm not trying to harm my children's relationship with their grandparents in any way. I'm trying to protect my foster son while he's at a very vulnerable place.
I have been trying to help my wife understand where I'm coming from and that I do want for our children to see and have a relationship with their grandparents but that they can't be around for the time being but I don't know how to send that message across. I've been trying to but I don't think she quite understands what I'm trying to say.
How do I reassure her that this would be temporary as long as her parents work on themselves? How can I get my message across while also validating her feelings and opinions?

2023.06.08 22:27 Mission-Reception-77 Amazon Area Manager Intern

Ill be going to Ohio for my internship that's starting in a couple of weeks. I chose to take the stipends and find housing and got placed in the overnight shift. I also got a rental car. How was/is the experience for anyone that is/was doing this internship. How is the social life? I am 20 hoping ill have coworkers in the similar age range. What would an intern be doing and what sort of vehicle options did you get. Were you able to make friends and have a good time or was it a do your work and get out scenario?

2023.06.08 22:26 jagspetdog Learning 560 Transunion & goal of 700.

Hiya,
EDIT regarding title: 560 transunion but 618 Experian & 615 Equifax.
I've been spending the last few weeks reading about credit repair & trying to understand the best way to optimize my growth.
Some backstory - had a few issues during COVID & fell behind on payments, have two "negative remarks" now, Transunion has a few more pulled. Only one still has a balance.
Atm, I have a $6500 credit limit. I'm actually an authorized user on two cards and they're helping a lot. My cards have high utilization (but I have been paying the entire balance off).
As of now, these are my own cards not counting AU & remaining balances:
  1. Capital One Quicksilver - $0/$400 limit (nearly 1yr old)
  2. Capital One Platinum - $0/$300 limit (8 months old)
  3. CreditOne - $0/$300 limit (12 months old)
  4. Milestone - $0/$300 limit (3 months old)
  5. Destiny - $0/$700 limit (3 months old)
  6. Merrick - $428.56/$550 limit (2 months old)
  7. Premiere - $186.62/$500 limit (10 months old)
My statement for Merrick hits on the 20th and I intend to pay it off before then on my next paycheck. Premiere hits on the 13th - I might be able to pay it off if I sell something to knock it down.
My negative marks are from BOFA & Discover - I paid Discover off a few months back. BOFA has a $3200 balance - but I negotiated a settlement for 45% of the total.
Here are some of my questions, and I appreciate any and all help.
Q1: If I pay Premiere off & Merrick off to 0, I'll have 0% utilization for this statement cycle. Is that optimal? Should I leave some money on Premiere/Merrick?
Q2: I was planning on paying the BOFA balance in September - but I wasn't sure the level of impact it would have on my score. I have to find a new rental to live at in September (so I'll be hunting in July/August). If I pay it off, it may be harder to find a place due to lack of balance - but maybe I'll have an easier time getting approved? Thoughts?
Q3: What else would you all recommend to help improve my credit? I'm really new to this but this is really interesting and I'm absorbing the information to the best of my ability.
Additional details:
Income: $100k
27/yo
Goal is to be able to move further out due to very high COL in my area - and be able to finance a car so I can commute. In addition, I'd really like to be able to improve my QOL with better credit cards and cashback.
Thanks in advance.

2023.06.08 22:22 PriorRealistic730 California Tesla drivers-- question regarding taxes

I bought a Tesla MY in Dec. 2022 in new mexico state and registered in NM state. However, I am moving to CA state in July 2023 and when I tried to calculate my fee, it says I will need to pay $4700 since I bought the car out of state and it is less than 12 months. Is there a way out of paying additional $4K towards car registration?

2023.06.08 22:07 jmsb5 How do you get to the airport from here? I know google maps and all that, but where do I park/walk to pick up rental car?

Trying to rent a car for a week. Cheapest cars are picked up at the airport. I've never been to the airport here. How do I get there and where do I park my car to pick up the rental one? Is it free to park? My friend is going to with me. I am here in South Suburbs. Airports scare me tbh. I hated O'Hare airport in Chicago . I'd get lost easily.

2023.06.08 22:02 dr721 2 card CB strategy question?

Hi all,
I'm strongly considering a simple 2-card cash-back strategy because I favor simplicity, and I don't enjoy balancing rotating rewards or travel portals.
Current cards: Citi Double Cash $10,500 limit, ~2014 American Express Delta Platinum $12,300 limit, ~2021
FICO Score: 800 Oldest account age: 9 years Chase 5/24 status: none Income: $80,000
Average monthly spend (can be pretty variable, but looking at my last 2 years, probably about: dining $600 groceries: $500 gas: $<20 travel: $300 (including planes, hotels/airbnb, rental car, local transit, tolls, parking) other: $1000
Open to Business Cards: e.g. No
Other pertinent details: Amazon Prime (NOT a member), no regular streaming services, don't shop at Costco, travel internationally 1-2x/year, domestically 3-4x/year
What's the purpose of your next card? Simplifying cash back strategy
Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Prefer general spending
Do you have any cards you've been looking at?
Considering getting the US Bank AR card + one other card for non-Apple Pay and travel spend (looked at PayPal MC, Fidelity Visa, Alliant Visa, WF Active Cash). Figured the DC is a bit more convoluted w/ the 1%/1% structure + it has a 3% FTF and no real benefits, so it would be nice to get a different catch-all 2% card that offers something else (3% PayPal CB, purchase protections/insurance, SUB, etc.). I do think it would be nice to get something with purchase protections/warranty/insurance if possible which I think leads me towards the Fidelity or Alliant. I don't think the PayPal card includes any of that, though the 3% at PayPal is nice. Not an Alliant customer already and don't think it would be worth it to set up over there just for their card. WF SUB is nice, but afterwards, doesn't really offer much in terms of signature benefits aside from the cell phone protection (already have this through Renter's insurance rider). Am I missing something like another card or benefits? Does the PayPal MC offer something I don't know about? I know Fidelity has the 1% FTF but it seems aside from that and their terrible UI, it might be the best card choice for me to pair with the USBAR? I do have my 403b with them.

2023.06.08 21:50 bingmyname Do I need to get new spark plugs?

I just bought a used 2020 mustang Ecoboost premium with 52.5k miles on it. It doesn't look like they ever changed the spark plugs according to the car fax and it was a rental vehicle. I'm thinking about getting spark plugs, an oil catch can and maybe an intercooler down the line as I read that those are the things that will extend the life of the car. However I don't know if the 2018+ mustangs still had the spark plug issue so I'm asking is it still necessary for these years, which plugs should I get and how much did you pay for installation services? Also recommendations for oil catch cans and pricing would be greatly appreciated as well.
