2023.06.08 22:55 ALLSTARergo Youth Nats V4+ Predictions
I got City Honors as a big sleeper.
I have a feeling they’re going to flip the switch in d finals: their stroke, bonnor bennedy, goes 5:37.4 at 5’11, 160, but the rest of the boat has an erg average of 9:24.7. Let me know your thoughts.
The Canisius (sigma) 4- is also a great bet, as their 2 seat, Meer Rench, doubles as a coxswain.

2023.06.08 22:49 Alethiometer88 I (34F) broke up with my boyfriend of 3 years (35M) but we still want to make group camping trip plans this summer. Should I politely bow out to give him space with the boys even though he still wants me to come?
I've had 3 amazing years with this guy, and I think he's a great person, a great boyfriend, and he's gonna make some other girl so happy. But certain incompatibilities have made me seriously repeatedly question whether he's the guy I want to spend my life with. Ultimately I ended up pulling the trigger a few weeks ago, for essentially this reason: I don't think he's going to be ready to be the father of my kids on my timeline; he still has a lot of growing up to do, still makes some reckless decisions that have consequences I don't want to have to deal with, and when there's a crisis I often feel like I have to shoulder dealing with the crisis myself while he gets paralyzed by catastrophizing - I feel like if we added more responsibilities like kids and other things that are bound to pop up, that I would regret tying myself to him like that. Plus, he deserves time to keep being a carefree dude not tied down, when before me he was in a really controlling abusive relationship, before that he had to put his life on hold to spend 5 years caregiving for his ailing grandparents, and before that he had a really rough adolescence with a lot of trauma and no real adult guidance. I'm seeing now that he's growing into the person he wants to be, that his life goals are taking him in a different direction than mine are for me. But we still love each other a lot, we still live together but we've moved into separate rooms, and I'm struggling with figuring out how to do right by him and if I can still love him as a friend and not just abandon the close relationship we've built.
Coming up to the current situation I'm struggling with. Before we broke up, we made plans for a week-long camping trip for us and the dog a celebration for me finishing grad school (woot!) But I ended up telling him the truth that was brewing inside me a couple weeks before that trip. We decided to keep the plans anyway, and he insists that he still wants to do things like that with me because he's always just wanted to love and support me, even if he isn't "the one." The camping trip was absolutely magical and we had a great time together, with just a few hiccups. Then we started talking about making more summer plans to go to the same campsite and split the cost of a boat rental with a group to have an even better time. But now I'm starting to worry about the possibility of bringing the drama of an unstable relationship to our friends (like, who wants to go camping with a couple that just broke up?), and also about being too much of a presence in his life when we both should be trying to move forward. He still really wants me to come and says he's not worried about it, but I'm torn.
For a little more context, before I started seeing this guy I was in a really toxic relationship with a guy who I broke up with and got back together with at least twice a year. My friends all offered me a lot of support... at first... but I understand that it got exhausting, and I think I may have burned a few bridges with people who didn't wanna put up with my constant drama around this guy. So I'm afraid of inviting any of my friends on this trip who know that we're broken up, given that history. I don't want to give my friends the impression that I'm about to go through another exhausting cycle because I can't properly break up with someone.
I'd love to go on this trip and I love the idea of being able to do group things with him as friends and still be able to move forward with my life the way I decided I need to. I think we can all be adults and have a good time. But I'm worried that I'm being stupid and naive to think that's a good idea.

2023.06.08 22:33 EggBenedictorian Bloody Daddy is a cash scam by AAZ. Jio'a content is subpar and below quality then MX Player and ALT Balaji.
I was excited to see Bloody Daddy after Farzi. Not gonna lie the trailer seemed like a perfect desi version of John Wick. And I started watching it.
An hour into it, the film is not opened yet. It is promoted as an out and out action film but till 5 minutes before interval there is no fight sequence. Never mind.
All the actors, including Ronit Roy, Sanjay Kapoor, Daina Penty, That TV Actor, all seemed to be under some medicore spell. They were giving mid performances. Writing is so passe. There is no moment in the film. Shahid is running here and there lost as the story of the film. The beat of the film is off. It is neither an action film, nor a drama or thriller. It is an attempt to make some money by AAZ and to give Jio his name and Shahid's in order to grab the attention of free viewers.
This film is out of the pace and place. I am hugely disappointed in Shahid. He acted well but the film in totality just doesn't work.

2023.06.08 22:13 autotldr Intense fighting reported as Ukrainian forces go on attack south of Zaporizhzhia
This is the best tl;dr I could make,
original reduced by 75%. (I'm a bot)
A substantial Ukrainian force was pushing an assault against Russian positions in the south on Thursday, in an intensification of fighting that some Ukrainian officials and western analysts said marked the start in earnest of Kyiv's much-vaunted counteroffensive.
Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu said Ukrainian forces from Ukraine's 47th Mechanised Brigade, with up to 1,500 troops and 150 armoured vehicles, "Made an attempt to break through" but Russian forces dealt the attack "a preventive blow", although Russian military bloggers painted a far more nuanced picture.
Speaking to ABC news, two Ukrainian officials, including a source close to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, confirmed that an active phase of the Ukrainian counteroffensive was under way.
The fighting near Zaporizhzhia will be intensely scrutinised as this area of the front has long been seen as a potential axis for a Ukrainian assault towards Melitopol, not least because Tokmak itself is a major railway junction and Russian logistical hub that has key lines of communication with Mauripol, Berdyansk and Crimea.
Another objective of a Ukrainian assault south and east from this direction has long been supposed to sever the Russian "land bridge" linking areas of the occupied south and east with Crimea.
"Probably, at the moment, it is mainly conducted by brigades already in place. It's not clear if any of the dozen Ukrainian brigades trained and equipped for the counteroffensive have yet been committed."A signature indicator would be large numbers of western armoured fighting vehicles including: Leopard and Challenger 2 tanks, Bradley and Marder infantry fighting vehicles and M113 APCs.

2023.06.08 22:10 SilverInstr First Impressions of my U100
I ordered three Aqara U100 last evening, and received them this morning. I have installed one, and finished setting up Aqara Home and Apple Home.
First Impressions:
- Installation is easy. Set up is straightforward with both apps.
- Apple Home Key is fantastic. However, Apple now requires a Home Hub (HomePod Mini, Apple TV, or HomePod) if I want to set up additional home members. Therefore, other members of my home will have to wait for the delivery of HomePod Mini before they can get their HomeKey.
- The lock knows whether the door is open or closed, and will lock promptly after the door is closed. (I had to recalibrate it once. But overall, it's amazing.) I can also punch in "0" "0" "lock" on the keypad if I want to temporarily disable auto lock.
- Feature request: auto lock after the door remains closed for X minutes. This isn't currently supported (or I can't find a setting for it). Given that it can auto lock when the door is closed, I feel like that this should be an easy addition on Aqara's part. I really wish to see it happen. Prior to U100, I use an old smart lock (Nest x Yale), it can auto lock after time delay, but the time delay starts when I unlock, not when I most recently close the door. Therefore, it often locks when I don't want it to. I also have a LiftMasteChamberlain garage door, which has a time delay feature: that's much better, the time delay resets whenever the safety sensor detects anything.
- I prefer having no keys at all. In my opinion, it's an unnecessary attack vector. But I understand that people can use rocks to bypass my lock, so not too big of a deal. The keys will probably sleep in my drawers forever.

2023.06.08 22:08 astronomydork Easy campfire cooking snack suggestions for summer camp
So for background I work at a summer camp where one of the activities is campfire cooking.
I'm overseeing the outdoors activities which this falls under. Each activity period is roughly 1 hour long for kids aging anywhere from 8-17.
In this activity kids come and would make some kind of food over a campfire, pretty straight forward. There isn't any backpacking cook stove or anything like that. For the most part food would need to be cooked either wrapped in tin foil, on a skewer, or on a grill grate over the fire. We gave a few pots and pans but they are normal size you might use in the home.
The food we make during this activity are not full meal replacements, the campers still eat 3 meals a day so we do not have to worry about full meals.
We could make really any type of food so one I've done in the past is pizzadillas (basically pizza ingredients in a tortilla) we can also do desserts (such as a banana boat) or any more snack like foods.
The activity runs 5 times a day so regardless of age to make it simpler each day a different food would be made multiple times for each class.
I'm looking for simple and easy snacks, desserts, or very small meals that could be made during this activity. It is also important about timing as if the food isn't done quickly the kids need to leave and head to their next activity. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated or if you have links to articles that have a good list thank you.
Any other questions please feel free to ask! Thank you

2023.06.08 22:07 Purple-Option4883 Small project ideas?
| I’m going on a trip this weekend and although the bus drive to the place and back by boat are supposed to be beautiful, I want to bring a crochet project since 2x3 hours is quite long. However, I’m currently working on a cardigan that’s too big to bring. Any ideas on what I can make? I have wool in different colors blue, pink and white for hook sizes 4, 2.5-3, some cotton for 2.5-3mm. I’m kind of out of ideas 😅 submitted by Purple-Option4883 to crochet [link] [comments] |
2023.06.08 22:07 AutoModerator Watch Spider-Man : Across The Spider-Verse Free Online
Sony Pictures! Here are options for downloading or watching Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse streaming the full movie online for free on 123movies & Reddit, including where to watch marvel's latest live-action adaptation movies at home. Is Spider-Verse 2 available to stream? Is watching Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse on Peacock, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Netflix or Amazon Prime? Yes, we have found an authentic streaming option/service.
Watch Now:
Spider-Verse (2023) Movie Online Free Watch Now:
Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse Movie Online Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be in theaters beginning June 2. If you're wondering how and where you can watch it yourself, take a look at the information below.
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters the Spider Society, a team of Spider-People charged with protecting the Multiverse’s very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must set out on his own to save those he loves most. Anyone can wear the mask – it’s how you wear it that makes you a hero.
The much-anticipated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is only a few weeks away, and fans can’t wait to see the new adventures of Miles Morales. Once the Sony Pictures-produced movie ends its theatrical run, it will come to the most popular streamers, including Netflix and Disney Plus. But when is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix and Disney Plus? Here’s what you need to know.
'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' features the return of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy. Just before the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, producers of the feature have announced a couple of other projects. Producer Amy Pascal has announced a forthcoming third installment titled Beyond the Spider-Verse expected to be released next year. That is not the only project announced.
Paint-on-glass, Realistic Cartoon-style to Japanese Manga, makers explore not a couple but way too many animation styles! Shameik Moore’s Miles, in a way, gets a Star-Lord-like treatment in which he beautifully balances his character arc without overstepping the broader scheme of things. Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen finally gets a chance to narrate her side of things, and it mixes well with the ‘star-crossed’ relationship she’s currently sharing with Miles.
If you’re like just about everyone else on the planet who saw Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018 and loved it, you’ve probably been waiting for the sequel. You won’t be waiting long, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is finally coming out in 2023, a full five years later. It’s been a long wait but by all indications the film is going to be a blast for fans of comic book movies, Miles Morales’ version of Spider-Man, and this new animated franchise featuring the iconic webslinger. Modern cinema has seen the gap between theatrical and streaming releases shorten dramatically, begging the question of when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will release online. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, streaming releases have been much closer to the theatrical release of films. While the mid-COVID marketing technique of releasing movies in theaters and on streaming services at the same time for an extra price is a thing of the past, the gap between the respective releases is still considerably shorter than in decades past.
While we currently don’t know the exact online release date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, we do know the movie will be released in cinemas worldwide, including the US and UK, on June 2nd, 2023. We know where to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse online, but do we also know when? We can guess once again, assuming it charts the same theater-to-streaming path as Into the Spider-Verse did in 2018 with two months between the theatrical release and its digital renting/buying services. You may be able to buy or rent the movie digitally as early as late July of this year, with a physical release roughly a month or so after that, if not sooner. This also means that you will probably be able to stream Spider-Man: Across on Netflix in early December 2023, as it took about six months from Into the Spider-Verse’s release before the movie landed on the streamer.
When Is the Release Date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was one of the many films to get hit by a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, moving from its original date of April 8, 2022, to October 7, 2022. That's the date seen in the above trailer, but the film has since seen another significant delay since then. Now the film is officially set for release on June 2, 2023. Hopefully, we won't see another delay, but if it means getting a sequel that lives up to the sky-high heights of the original, we'll gladly wait. Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in Theaters?
Not only was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the subject of rave reviews, but it also pulled in some gargantuan levels of cash at the international box office, with a final tally that quadrupled the film's ninety-million dollar budget. With incredible success like that, it's only natural that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse would also be taking advantage of a theatrical release. That is the case, as the upcoming film will be exclusively available in theaters when it premieres on June 2nd, 2023
How to Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
At the moment, you can watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at your local theater. But like most movies these days, it should hit a streaming website in the near future.
Like its predecessor, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a flick produced by multimedia conglomerate Disney. What's more, the production studio owns a number of other famous franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars. Titles made under these umbrellas have both hit Disney+ sometime after arriving at the box office. Fans may also know the original Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently available to stream on the site as well. So, if the 2023 version follows the same pattern, folks will likely get to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Disney+ later this year too.
As for an exact release date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, that's more complicated. Most movies produced by Disney often go to its streamer site within three months after debuting in theaters, like the most recent Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. If this is the case for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it will probably drop in late August 2023 or sometime near Labor Day in early September. When the time comes for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to splash onto Disney+ though, make sure you're all prepared to watch it. If you don't have access yet, you can opt into a 30-day free trial before choosing a plan that start at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. After your account is all set, click on the title page on Disney+'s official website or the Disney+ app.
As you wait for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to hit the streamer, why don't you watch the animated version and its sequel Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse? Or if you want to immerse yourself in another live-action version, click on the 2019 ABC TV special Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Live!. Enjoy!
Where To Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Online:
As of now, the only way to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is to head out to a movie theater when it premieres on June 2, 2023. You can find a local showing on Fandango.
Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube or Apple, or become available to stream on Disney+.
When is 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' streaming?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse The home distribution rights for Across the Spider-Verse are in a rather interesting place. In April 2021, it was reported that Sony Studios had signed a multiyear deal with both Netflix and Disney for shared streaming rights to Sony films coming out between 2022 and 2026. This deal includes Across the Spider-Verse as well as the third film in the series, Beyond the Spider-Verse, due out in March 2024.
As for releases like Across the Spider-Verse, the film will be available on Netflix with "first-pay-window-rights" for the first 18 months of its home media release. While it will not be streaming concurrently with its theatrical release, it will be available on Netflix following its theatrical run.
Some of the films are not currently available on the service because Sony has pre-existing partnerships with Starz, as that's where most of the absent films are available to stream. That is except for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is instead only streaming on Fubo TV and FX Now.
For anyone else looking to watch the film as soon as possible, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released in theaters on June 2.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is coming to Netflix approximately in December 2023. In 2021, Sony and Netflix signed a five-year deal that gave the latter exclusive first-pay-window U.S. streaming rights for Sony Pictures titles after their theatrical and home entertainment windows. Fans can expect to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix six months after the film’s theatrical release, thus in December 2023. The date seems reasonable considering that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped on Netflix on June 26, 2019, six months after its U.S. release on December 14, 2018. The pay-one window usually begins about nine months after a film’s theatrical release, but it might start earlier in particular cases. This post will be updated once there is a 100% officially confirmed Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Netflix release date.
When Will Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Be Available On Netflix?
Where will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse stream specifically? Due to an ongoing deal between Netflix and Sony (remember that these movies are not produced by Disney), Across the Spider-Verse will see Netflix as the streaming home for the film when it finishes its theatrical run. It will no doubt make its way to Disney+ eventually, as Disney and Sony do have an agreement for Disney to include Sony’s Spider-Man content in their offerings, but that will at least be some time after Across the Spider-Verse has come out on Netflix.
In terms of which of the streaming giants Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released on, Netflix will house the film upon its streaming debut. While again, Sony does not have its own dedicated streaming service, a deal was struck in 2021 between the studio and Netflix. The deal, stating that Netflix would stream Sony's films after theatrical release, was penned for 5 years meaning Across the Spider-Verse is part of the arrangement.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Disney Plus?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is also coming to Disney Plus approximately in 2025. Once the pay-one window runs its time and Netflix’s exclusive rights expire, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available on Disney Plus. The pay-one window might last as long as 18 months, which means it will be a while before Disney Plus subscribers can watch the much-anticipated sequel. Unlike in other countries, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse isn’t yet available on the Disney-owned streamer in the U.S.
While Sony's Spider-Man content is also streaming on Disney+, due to the collaborations between Sony and Marvel Studios in recent years, Across the Spider-Verse will be a Netflix release. While the deal struck between Marvel Studios and Sony may extend to this film, Disney+ is only allowed to begin streaming Sony's Spider-Man releases upon their release on Netflix. As a result, Netflix will be the first streaming service that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available on after its theatrical release.

2023.06.08 22:05 bigmandannyd Skagway White Pass Rail excursion 5pm ticket - too late? 8:30pm depart time.
We booked a very last minute cruise which is coming up in a few weeks here. We're trying to pick some excursions to do, and most of them are sold out through the cruise website itself.
For Skagway, our time in port is 6am - 8:30pm. We're hoping to find a way to take the train tour. The cruise offers 2 times (morning and early afternoon), but they're sold out. The cruise offers another combo tour, Skagway Brewery and Train, which is from 3pm - 8pm, which has plenty of tickets left. The brewery stop is first.
From the White Pass rail website itself, there are only 5pm tickets available. I'm assuming this is the same train as the brewery tour takes.
I think I'd prefer to book just the train tour (so we'd have more time on our own in town to have dinner and such), but I'm worried about returning on time. The train is touted as 2.5-2.75hr, so with a 5pm departure that returns us at 7:45pm. With an 8:30pm castoff time, should we risk this?
I'm open to booking the combo tour through the cruise itself if I have to in order to ensure the boat waits for us to get back, but I'd rather not do the brewery or spend the extra money if the consensus is 45 minutes is plenty of time to get back.
What is everyone's thoughts and experiences?

2023.06.08 21:49 Maximum_Ad_4650 People in my area are complete jerks and it sucks to need help.
Hey, I just needed to vent a little and I feel like people here tend to be pretty decent and supportive so here goes. Apologies for mobile formatting issues as per usual. Sorry it's long.
My brother stopped by my house for dinner and his parked vehicle was completely totaled by a drunk/high driver fleeing from police a few days ago. This is his work vehicle. He is self employed. He also just bought it in January for cash with help from our whole family pooling resources. This wasn't an expensive truck, we literally pooled our resources and came up with several thousand to help him get an old truck so he wouldn't be completely f'ed after his old work truck died.
So that was in January and his truck just got totaled by this jerk on Monday. The insurance company is refusing to even look at my brother's car until they get a police report, and the police are estimating it won't be ready for 5 weeks since there are ongoing investigations regarding this guy and the wreck I guess? He tried to run from the wreck and detectives have been sniffing around so it seems like more than just a traffic accident.
Anyway, the end result is my brother is without a work vehicle and is in the middle of his biggest job of the year that will make or break whether he can pay bills, afford to live, etc. My family is really struggling to make our own bills and we already put what we could towards the now totaled truck in January. He can't wait the 5-8 weeks they're telling him to be able to replace his truck. It would literally cost him his business to do so. So he needs to rent something immediately or buy something fast while this all gets worked out.
After some deliberation and out of desperation he decided to try a Go F*ndMe campaign to help raise some funds to replace his truck ASAP. I posted it on my Nextdoor app since it happened in our yard and wrote out an explanation similar but shorter to what I explained above. I've seen other people ask for help and things and it seems like you get the community rallying to support others often.
Guys. Guys. The comments there are completely awful. It's literally all comments about how so and so got their stuff resolved really quickly and got a check for their car almost immediately. Or comments like "insurance should pay for it". No Sh!t. Basically all comments are insinuating that I'm lying. It's just so disheartening. I don't like asking for help. I was just trying to support my brother. It sucks knowing everyone around here are basically a bunch of suspicious a-holes that can do nothing but respond with condescension. Not even an "omg that is terrible, glad everyone is alive!" Literally just responses calling me a liar in so many words.
I know it was probably dumb to expect anything different. It just really sucks when people are terrible and condescending when you're feeling stressed and desperate. That's all. Thanks for listening.
P.S. I just want to say that I am in no way going to plug the Go F*ndMe. I know we are all in the same boat here in this sub, I just wanted a nicer place to tell the story to someone understanding or at least not as mean about it.
Extra info: Despite the wreck being super awful (other SUV ended up taking out a large tree down the street and was on fire) the guy walked out (well, attempted to evade capture) and no one was seriously hurt.

2023.06.08 21:49 cellarkeller Engineering vs flying professionally
Hello
flying!
I am writing this post because I am in a dilemma right now. I am studying Mechatronics Engineering in a university in Istanbul, Turkey and am about to graduate in two weeks. I can try to seek an engineering job in the very cutthroat dog-eat-dog industry of Turkey, or could enter the Turkish Airlines Cadet academy.
Some background : I am sure most of you are already aware of the state of Turkish economy right now. For the past 5 years, the average inflation rate has been around 100%, going up to 180% in some years. 1 kg of ground beef was 10 liras in 2018 and is about 400 liras right now. You can pretty much guess how much did the salaries increase in the same period :) Our dictator is trying to keep unemployment low by artificially lowering the interest rates and offering state backed loans but it's a Ponzi scheme that will collapse sooner or later.
Let me also tell that, unlike the USA(I am saying USA because
flying is 95% American seemingly) Turkey is not a very R&D oriented, high added value economy, so good engineering jobs are far and few in between, and competition for them is very high, and nepotism is rampant. The remaining engineering jobs are more akin to glorified technician jobs that overwork you and pay you a tad above the minimum wage. Work environments are usually toxic, job security is nonexistent, and since employers know that if you get fired you will probably not find another job soon enough to keep your tummy full, they treat you like they are the God's gift. Of course I could try to go for a Master's degree in the USA/Canada/Australia/Europe and try to legally cement myself there as an engineer, but immigration is a very financially and mentally draining affair and is actually pretty difficult and high risk as well.
Aviation(at least line flying) isn't so bleak here though. Turkish Airlines managed to make itself a significant player in long haul hub-and-spoke game especially between Europe and Asia and Europe and Latin America. The fleet has grown about 100% in the past decade and airline is chronically understaffed, if you do get hired, you get upgraded to left seat and wide bodies in no time(compared to US legacy carriers for example). 777 captains in their 30s are common. And piloting is one of the very few professions here that don't underpay you to hell, a 737/A320 FO will make about 4 times as much as an entry level engineer, and for wide body captains, it goes up to pretty high levels(adjusted for cost of living, imagine earning 300k gross in the USA) especially if they also have other duties like line and base training/check airman/sim instructor. Since Turkish Airlines is a very global brand, with lots of foreign investment and USD/EUR income, it is like a safe haven from the storm that is the Turkish economy. Do note that seniority system doesn't exist here the same way it does in the USA, so you may still have to fly at 3AM to Iraq on New Year's Eve even when you have been in the airline for 30 years.
The cadet academy takes you with zero experience and puts you in the right seat of an A320/737 in about 30 months. The job is a guarantee, which is a great peace of mind. A lot of people don't make it through the entrance exams, language proficiency checks(English proficiency levels in Turkey are very low) or the medical examination(the conditions are much tighter than what the aviation authority requires, due to guaranteed job thing). You get modular training, and spend little time in the piston props and go pretty quickly to airliners. Most training on small props focus on stick and rudder stuff like spins and upsets, traffic patterns, crosswind landings etc, you actually pass your instrument rating in a 737/A320 sim. Sounds very odd from the FAAland I can guess, but it kind of works. Garmin G1000 is not that similar to a 737 after all. You can convert your licenses to FAA/EASA ones if you really want to, with some additional checkrides and written exams, but most people who leave Turkey for a flying job elsewhere go to the Middle East or the Far East which already recognize this kind of license so it's not that necessary. You start with around 140k EUR debt to the academy, which you can repay in 15 years. Yes it's a lot more than a lot of regular flight schools, I am sure a lot of it is "job guarantee surcharge".
I have been a flight sim enthusiast since I was a little boy, and I always sort of wanted to do it in real life as well, but until recently I used to consider a cushy office engineering job where I toyed around with SolidWorks, Excel and MATLAB for a few hours, wrote some reports and attended some meetings and went home with a livable wage, but that reality doesn't exist in my country anymore since a long time ago.
I am very well aware of all the downsides that come with flying professionally, but the compensation is too hard to ignore, especially when the alternative is just about poverty. What would you do if you were in my shoes,
flying? Thanks in advance!

2023.06.08 21:47 Sergiott97 I hated it...
Just saw the summer game fest gamplay trailer and I felt so heartbroken, I just wanted to come here to know if someone feels similar to me. I will explain my points:
- Scorpion/Sub Zero rivalry has been amazin, someone remembers the MKX anounce trailer where these to fight in the snow, but know they are brothers. How are the going to explain the fire powers from hell that scorpion got by being a peon of Quan Chi. I feel this New begining just screws all the Rich lore the characters had, with a new begining no one asked for.
- I dont like tag team fighting games, i know they are just kameos, but still, i dont like that mechanic. Now you have to learn not only how to play your character but also how it interacts with the asist system. Me no like.
- The Kameos sistem is going to be a way to not really give us the characters we want to play. Lets say you wanted to play Kano, well you are out of luck, he is only a kameo now. You where waiting for Shao Khan or Kintaro, too bad they are only kameos. You get the idea? Is like in Smash Brothers, when people wanted Waluigi or Sans, but only got the costumes.
- The voice actor for Johnny Cage did AMAZING in MK11, so funny, fitted the character perfectly. But now the voice is going to be Van Damme, wich has no experience with voice acting and i dont think is going to be as quirky and fun as the original.
- And lastly, Street fighter 6 just released, and is amazing. They built on what people loved the franchise for, they didnt try to implement an assist system or some stuff no one asked for. It has been a hugely succesfull release. Mk has always been a game i love, i pre-ordered the las two... but with this changes, i will better wait and see how it plays on release before making the purchase.
I think this game has a huge chance of floping...
Does anyone else feels like me?

Important: before you send your codes please make sure your account is secure (if your password is twelve characters or less it's best to assume your account has already been compromised; your password should be eight randomly selected words, see 1 and 2). Scams where compromised accounts are used to leverage reputation to scam an unsuspecting user, used to steal codes during the middle of the trade, and steal unused gift cards the victim was saving for later are increasingly commonplace. If you have any concerns as to your account's security, please reset your password now and force logout of all sessions. Thanks
