I'm from Brownsville, Texas, and one night I was at my girlfriend's house. We were having a normal evening, watching a movie and relaxing in bed, at around 9:00 pm. Since no one else was home, we were surprised when we heard a robotic-like voice coming from outside the window. I checked, but I didn't see anything. This happened twice. Then, we heard noises coming from the kitchen. My girlfriend had cats in the house, so we thought it might be them and didn't pay much attention. However, the noises continued, and they were louder the second time. We jokingly checked the living room and kitchen, but found nothing unusual, so we went back to bed. Suddenly, we heard the noises again for the third time, and this time we decided to thoroughly check the entire house. However, we couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. The cats were also missing, as if they were hiding. My girlfriend went back to her room, and I followed her. Before entering the room, I had a strange feeling and decided to look out into the hallway. It was dark, and I couldn't see anything, but suddenly, I heard a human whistle. Thinking it was my girlfriend, I smiled and laughed a little. However, when I looked at her, she seemed genuinely terrified and asked me to close the door. I locked it as she requested. We suspected that someone had entered the house, and I was ready to call 911. However, my girlfriend insisted that I shouldn't. Instead, we decided to run out of the house. I locked the bottom lock of the door from the inside and went straight to my car. I was terrified and shaking, and I wanted to call my dad and ask him to bring a gun, but my girlfriend convinced me not to. Instead, I called my friends and asked them to come with baseball bats. We waited outside to see if anyone would come out of the house, but no one did. I told my friends that we should go inside and confront the burglar with the bats they brought. However, when I tried to open the door, I realized it was locked. I remembered locking it before leaving. We decided to go to a restaurant and get the keys from my girlfriend's mom. I asked my friends to stay outside and call the police if they saw anyone. When we returned, we positioned ourselves behind the door, ready to open it. I unlocked the bottom lock and turned the knob, but to my surprise and fear, the top lock that required a key to lock was also locked. We didn't have the key when we originally ran out, and this confirmed to me that someone was inside. I unlocked the top lock using the keys we had, and we quickly entered the house, expecting to find someone inside. However, after searching the entire house and checking all the windows and doors, everything seemed untouched and locked. Since then, my friends and I have been unable to explain what happened that day. The top lock, which needed a key to be locked, was locked when we returned, even though we didn't have the key. Moreover, we still can't explain the human whistling sound that my girlfriend and I heard. The whistling had a mocking tone to it.

To be the undisputed champion means that nobody can dispute your status as the top wrestler. This is why Chris Jericho became the undisputed champion in 2001, because there was no significant wrestling company who could dispute his status (at least not in America).
When the brand split happened and Triple H became the first WHC it was ok because because he was now the best wrestler in the world according to the Raw brand, just as the WWE Champion was the top wrestler in the world according to the Smackdown! brand.
When the brand split fizzled out about a decade ago the WHC wasn't a secondary world title, it was just a belt people fought over for no reason. Ditto for the WCW International Championship. There is no such thing as a secondary world title. If a wrestling company or brand acquires a "world title" because they bought another company or whatever, then the title must be unified quickly or else it'll cease to be a "world title".
What WWE is doing now makes no sense. 2023.06.04 06:03 BR_alias69 Mom may know I found her secret stash
A few days ago, I found shrooms and Marijuana in the top cabinet of my Mom's house. Just as her friend picked her up tonight(to go clubbing), I got it all out to see as I've never seen drugs in person before. She came back in 4 mimutes later, while I had it all out. I was able to put it back up in the cabinet in time, but not in the same exact place I found it. She had it all in a silver bowl up top and I only had time to put it up there next to it. I walked off and I know she opened the cabinet right after. Her friend gave her a sus plastic bag with something in it before she left, so I think she was coming back to get more of something for the club. That's why she opened the cabinet. To my disbelief, she never yelled or anything. She just left. I came back down, looked and it was all still there next to the bowl. Weird, but I know she opened the cabinet? If she took anything, she would've taken the whole bag. So I don't think she took anything. So here's the dilemma. Do I put it all back in the bowl or leave it, misplaced to the side? I figure if she realized I found it, she would've taken it all. Why would she knowingly leave it with me along if she knows I know? Maybe she didn't even notice. Why would she look up there and take nothing after coming back to get something? If I put it back in the bowl, she may notice it's in a different place than previously if she saw it tonight. If I leave it and she didn't see it tonight, she'll notice later that it's misplaced. I just messaged her something and got a friendly average response. So I'm not sure at this moment she knows I know about it. She would've taken it all, yelled down for me, or not respond so friendly. This is the paradox of all time. Help. Sos

- There are no locks on our room doors (there's currently 2 of us living here with 3 rooms in total), this means anybody can just walk into your room. I didn't notice this when I came for the viewing as I just assumed there would be locks as standard and so I didn't even bother checking.
- The gas oven barely works (2 of the 4 hobs don't work and to use the grill or oven you have to go inside and use a lighter on the spark which doesn't feel safe... it took about 10 attempts with my cigarette lighter for the spark to turn into fire). Even when I got the grill to work, when I went back half of my pizza was burnt on one side and the other half was completely uncooked, making it inedible. I messaged the landlord about the oven and she called back straight away saying "it has a personality like all ovens" and that "there's a knack to it", she also said I could buy one of those long lighters for £1 from a store. What annoyed me though was that she also said in the call that she was going to come over the next day and drop off one of these long lighters but then she text me the next day saying she was unable to make it down, that was it. No "I can try the day after instead" or anything.

Mississippi Pot Roast is a staple in my house. I make it at least once a month and I always make enough to have leftovers for days. It’s such a simple, incredibly flavorful recipe that needs very little alteration.
I’ve made it in the slow cooker, braised it in the over, pressure cooked it in the instant pot, and the slow cooker has to be the best method I’ve attempted.
I’ve tried adding potatoes and carrots in the pot during the last hour or two of cooking, I’ve served it next to roasted veggies, sometimes I’ll buy stuff to make sandwiches with the leftovers, but my favorite is serving it over a bed of mashed potatoes with a reduction sauce made from the cooking liquid.
After playing around with the recipe, when I make it now I opt for the reduced sodium brown gravy mix instead of the au jus so it isn’t as overwhelmingly salty (it’s still plenty salty), and I add 10-15 peperoncini with a splash of the liquid on top of the meat before I top it with the butter and packet mixes. During the last hour of cooking, I’ll remove about half of the cooking liquid, skim the fat off the top, and reduce it down until it coats the back of a spoon.
I’m making Mississippi Pot Roast for a family dinner tomorrow and I’m curious to see if anyone has changed the recipe in such a way that they’ll never make it any other way now.

I’ve tried adding potatoes and carrots in the pot during the last hour or two of cooking, I’ve served it next to roasted veggies, sometimes I’ll buy stuff to make sandwiches with the leftovers, but my favorite is serving it over a bed of mashed potatoes with a reduction sauce made from the cooking liquid.
After playing around with the recipe, when I make it now I opt for the reduced sodium brown gravy mix instead of the au jus so it isn’t as overwhelmingly salty (it’s still plenty salty), and I add 10-15 peperoncini with a splash of the liquid on top of the meat before I top it with the butter and packet mixes. During the last hour of cooking, I’ll remove about half of the cooking liquid, skim the fat off the top, and reduce it down until it coats the back of a spoon.
I’m making Mississippi Pot Roast for a family dinner tomorrow and I’m curious to see if anyone has changed the recipe in such a way that they’ll never make it any other way now.

Watching the runners sprint out from the camp I can't help but heave a mental sigh. A'right Poppit, more than one ran, make a show of each of them. Maybe throwing a bit of game theory at them was a bit cruel, but, I mean, do I really want stupid people escaping from a slaver camp. The smart ones will understand not to do stupid things like trying to retaliate against me in some manner.
That said, the mana income from Poppits' feasting on the former beast is nothing to scoff at. It did say that tainted flesh rewarded a significant amount more, perhaps there's levels of tainting where it increases the amount further? Although, wouldn't that have been listed to start with, or maybe the descriptions are just kind of an 'overview' and a 'usually how it works' type deal? Ah well, thoughts for another time.
Watching the sand shift and writhe as my lil hungy boyos split off into groups to chase down the runners, I can't help but think of how fish will move to swarm a piece of bread. The smarter folks who realized that running is a trap if any one runs though look at the idiots who fled with pale faces, and a pallid expression that I am quite familiar with. Not many folks can look away from a car crash as it's happening after all and this isn't much different. With almost simultaneous shrieks the Poppits catch their running quarries and with a surge burst up from under the sand lifting their victim up into the air for a moment before rapidly silencing the screams as they swarm over and bodily drag them under the sand.
The pregnant silence that follows is, understandable, even as the sand rapidly turns red around the camp. While I can make out a good overview of things without jumping into the senses of my followers, I want to get a proper feel of things. Shifting into Vahlu's point of view, I can feel the shudder of horror he also suppresses at the sites just now.
"Ah, right, your people have had issues with Poppit's kind in the past. Don't worry though, that'll not be an issue again lil buddy." (Curator)
My voice seems to break the heavy atmosphere of that little...demonstration. Vahlu shakes his head which, while understandable, is also really weird when I'm riding side saddle in his senses like this. As he turns to face our foe, they simply seem to collapse. Weapons or tools dropped, some just looking off in abject horror as they fall to their backs, others falling to their hands and knees, looking down at the sand as they shake, sweat, and gasp for air almost like a fish out of water. The interesting ones though, those are the ones that start kowtowing toward my little Pandora's box of a surprise.
"Hey, Vahlu, you and Paul gonna be okay sorting things out for the minute, getting every one freed, and getting the slavers all 'lined up' so I can judge them properly? I don't think they'll give yall ANY resistance in this current state. Their morale is completely shattered." (Curator)
All that and none of my people are hurt, gotta say this makes me really appreciate the attention to leadership being so important in table top games. Fear is a much more powerful weapon than a gun at times. If any one tries to start stuff in the future, that'll come in handy.

That said, those that are properly subdued shouldn't be attacked or harmed until I've had a chance to judge them." (Curator)

Returning my view back to my domain, I sigh, this really is home. Hey there lil snaketus, I didn't forget about you and how you supported me when I first came too in this place. Seeing how magic is all about how you visualize things, aaand, how I changed your flower some too, well, more changing is fine and this will be great for both of us I think.

Those words spoken the massive flow of mana rushes out compared to it's comparative trickle before. Part of me wishes to cackle as the snaketus starts to rapidly morph and grow. A proper head developing, eyes forming from azure flower petals as a wide hood opens to give the proper cobra appearance. Colorful 'scales' in the forms of petals and short spines forming inside that distinct spread neck to give a properly regal appearance. Surging forward toward my ziggurat as it grows, a mouth opens up, sharp and long quills for teeth easily seen, yet it carefully takes me in. My gem like core being hidden away inside it, stopping at the back of it's maw, veins of it's soft flesh covering over me, properly hiding me away as it yet grows longer and larger. Already I can see from it's eyes, as though they are my own, even turning it's head and shifting it's gaze.
Through that connection with it, like my other scions, there is simply a sense of joy and contentment. Not that I mind, honestly it's quite relaxing. Although....I do need to do something to keep my domain 'locked' here, don't I?
As if reading my mind Renenutet leans her head forward once more, and through me passes a...surprisingly large seed which is placed where I once was, crushing the pedestal and causing Babe even more distress than seeing me be engulfed like this. Seeing roots rapidly dig into the structure I feel a strong connection to it, almost like an anchor, or maybe a keystone of sorts.

With a quick nod of affirmation from my new 'body' I guess, they would speak.

Not gonna lie, kinda bummed that despite having this planned out early on (why do you think I noted how specifically the snaketus flower changed so early on!) I didn't get it done sooner on. Ah well, as the pacing feels is right. I wanted to do this around the time Curator would be bringing in an influx of people, but only after he had a large amount of mana to do so. The 'Sin Eater' was the solution I came up with that actually two chapters before that skill specialization was pointed out.
And today's Random Fact: Basket Ball was originally made as a random PE sport by a high school coach who cut the bottoms out of some fruit baskets to use (thus why it's a 'basket'!)

- There are no locks on our room doors (there's currently 2 of us living here with 3 rooms in total), this means anybody can just walk into your room. I didn't notice this when I came for the viewing as I just assumed there would be locks as standard and so I didn't even bother checking.
- The gas oven barely works (2 of the 4 hobs don't work and to use the grill or oven you have to go inside and use a lighter on the spark which doesn't feel safe... it took about 10 attempts with my cigarette lighter for the spark to turn into fire). Even when I got the grill to work, when I went back half of my pizza was burnt on one side and the other half was completely uncooked, making it inedible. I messaged the landlord about the oven and she called back straight away saying "it has a personality like all ovens" and that "there's a knack to it", she also said I could buy one of those long lighters for £1 from a store. What annoyed me though was that she also said in the call that she was going to come over the next day and drop off one of these long lighters but then she text me the next day saying she was unable to make it down, that was it. No "I can try the day after instead" or anything.

I’ll start and say O’Donnell and O’Brien continuing to get games is damn irresponsible at this pivotal point of the season, we can still make a play for the top 4(not all is lost) but we continuously put one foot into the jaws of defeat at the selection table. James’s skills are half baked at an AFL level and O’Brien is so hit and miss with little stability around any marking contest I say we bring Khamis as a replacement.
Beating Port on Friday! While difficult isn’t impossible, looking at how they play, I think we match up pretty well. It all rests on the Backline. A true do or die game for our season. As I believe if we squander a top 4 birth, winning the granny will be next to impossible given how competitive the entire comp is.
P.S watching Bont’s Brownlow slip away is painful!

Hi everyone! I am new to this subreddit, and just lost my baby girl on March 31st due to complications with HELLP syndrome. I have been told I needed to consult with a lawyer due to the level of care I received and I’m just not sure if it’s worth it. I need some advice from some other loss parents.
My pregnancy was less than pleasant. I have a history of severe kidney stones, and consulted my urologist prior to getting pregnant. He cleared me. At 19 weeks, I was hospitalized with a large stone that I ended up passing. While in the hospital, I had an ultrasound where the tech told me my baby was small for 19 weeks. Of course, that scared me, as being attached to machines full of pain medicine already had me on edge. My OB practice was well aware that I had this health history. The next week, I had my 20 week anatomy scan, and baby girl was measuring a week behind. They told me they would see me in a month, and there was nothing I could do in the meantime. Around this time, I started experiencing severe back pain that radiated into my head, neck, and shoulders. I couldn’t stand up straight. I continually called my doctor, in which they prescribed muscle relaxers and nerve pain medicine. Nothing touched it, and it would subside, then would come back.
At my follow up scan, I started feeling hot and dizzy. My practice was still requiring masks, so I thought on top of being nervous, that maybe I just wasn’t getting enough oxygen, or was freaking myself out. My blood pressure read high at that appointment. The nurse just blamed it on me being nervous and came back to check it. She didn’t say anything, so I assumed it read fine that time. My doctor came in and expressed that the baby was now a month behind. They ran blood in case of infection, and referred me to an MFM in a bigger city. Upon meeting with him, he determined that I was experiencing symptoms of preeclampsia. He also found that my cord was not pumping enough blood to my girl. We discussed the options, and ultimately determined that I would take steroids to help her lungs, I would begin baby aspirin, and we would reconvene that following week. I worked the weekend, baby girl continued moving. By that Monday, the back pain was back with a vengeance, and early Tuesday morning, my husband took me to the nearest hospital with a NICU. By Tuesday night, my platelets had dropped and I delivered her via emergency c-section. She weighed less than 12oz. at 25 weeks gestation. She lived for three days in the NICU before passing due to a brain bleed.
Since having her, I have found endless info just on the web about how HELLP syndrome and pre-e could develop in patients with kidney issues. No one shared that with me prior to getting pregnant, and especially not during my pregnancy. I have seen posts on IG in communities of HELLP survivors of the symptoms that I had that my doctors ignored. It’s so disheartening to see these posts about it all, but to know that my doctors didn’t know a thing about any of it, or didn’t care enough to test further. I had expressed concerns about my lack of belly growth, my extreme fatigue where I could sleep entire days, and the vomiting that persisted well into my second trimester. I was told they were normal. That might be, but those are also well known signs of HELLP syndrome as well. But no one thought to look further, even when I was in tears due to the back pain, while on the phone with my doctor.
So what would anyone here do? I’m not a lawyer person in the slightest, but I just feel as though my daughter and I received subpar care. I knew in my mama heart something was wrong, and the guilt is overwhelming sometimes. When I reached out to my providers to cancel any upcoming appointments due to the loss, I barely got a response about it. I never received a phone call about my baby that I lost at 6 months pregnant that they cared for up until the week before birth. They never asked about it or anything. Any advice is welcome. 💜

It just takes a moment to ruin a whole fucking day
We were having a great day. My son had a great OT session, was well behaved at swim class... He got anxious and argumentative about going to our non regular target but when given the choice to forgo target the whole weekend (which he normally loves) and go home or go to this one, he wanted to go home. Sure, whatever I'll just go to Safeway tomorrow.
In the afternoon we decided to try out a new sensory friendly playground with his little sister. We brought his balance bike which he's recently become interested in so he could practice. Both kids were well rested and pumped full of snacks and off we went. The entire time we stayed my son rode his bike in and around the playground, refusing to get off and play in the equipment which I didn't care about since he was in the sun and fresh air.
When it was time to head home for dinner we gave a 10 and then 5 then 1 minute countdown. And this is when the next 30 minutes just ruined my fucking day. he refuses to leave the park and despite much cajoling tried to make off to the other end of the park on his bike. My husband managed to grab him and do a fireman's carry to the car, the whole time our son is kicking and screaming. We tried to get him to ride his bike to the car multiple times but he refused stating he wants to stay (till when, who fucking knows).
We managed to get him to the car and he has a total meltdown about going home which then causes his 1 year old sister to cry. My husband has to wrestle him into his seat but since he is now in a booster and uses a regular seat belt he doesn't stay long and proceeds to slip down the seat and get the belt wrapped around his neck.
I freak out and let him loose and pick him up and bear hug him from behind while sitting on the curb, hoping the deep pressure will regulate him. He keeps talking about going back to ride his bike and nothing will calm him down.
I offer to let him ride his bike after dinner around our apartment complex. "NO!" He screams in my face.
What about if I put the bike in the back seat with him, so he can still have it in his gaze as we drive home. "NO!" He screams in my face.
What if we watch a favorite video or listen to a favorite song on the way home? "NO!" He screams in my face.
At this point I'm all out of ideas but am tired and hungry and would like to go home for fucks sake already. So I give a classic timer. Ok in 1 minute you'll have to get in this car and if you don't get in you won't have screen time the rest of the day. No kindle no ipad no movies no TV nothing. Cue screaming and crying in my face. the timer goes off and I pull him into the car. Several minutes of wrestling and I can't get him to sit down long enough to buckle him in. Finally I sit on him and tell my husband to just drive, just go already so we can get home. So we drive home for 17 minutes, him screaming and crying the whole way home, unbuckled , while I sit on his lap. He is 5.5.
This is probably one of the top 10 worst parenting moments I've had and it wouldn't have fucking happened if he had any semblance of flexibility. Like any at all. Ive read so many parenting books, listened to so many podcasts and read so many workshops and articles about anxiety, behavior, meltdowns, setting boundaries, etc and it works until it doesn't and no one can tell you what to do when that happens because all these people assume you have children that will eventually acquiesce or offer reasonable alternative.
Forced choices, timers, visual schedules, token boards, if/then, negotiations, redirections, dropping the rope. I've tried it all. But sometimes the rope can't be dropped. Sometimes shit has to get done and boundaries have to be enfotced and it's not what he wants. And these are the moments I hate because I feel like I give in I'm letting a tiny dictator control everything in our family but if I stand my ground it leads to an hour of terror that ruined an otherwise great day.
Sorry for the ramble but I'm so fucking tired if the rollercoaster and I want to get off this ride already.

A few days ago, I found shrooms and Marijuana in the top cabinet of my Mom's house. Just as her friend picked her up tonight(to go clubbing), I got it all out to see as I've never seen drugs in person before. She came back in 4 mimutes later, while I had it all out. I was able to put it back up in the cabinet in time, but not in the same exact place I found it. She had it all in a silver bowl up top and I only had time to put it up there next to it. I walked off and I know she opened the cabinet right after. Her friend gave her a sus plastic bag with something in it before she left, so I think she was coming back to get more of something for the club. That's why she opened the cabinet. To my disbelief, she never yelled or anything. She just left. I came back down, looked and it was all still there next to the bowl. Weird, but I know she opened the cabinet? If she took anything, she would've taken the whole bag. So I don't think she took anything. So here's the dilemma. Do I put it all back in the bowl or leave it, misplaced to the side? I figure if she realized I found it, she would've taken it all. Why would she knowingly leave it with me along if she knows I know? Maybe she didn't even notice. Why would she look up there and take nothing after coming back to get something? If I put it back in the bowl, she may notice it's in a different place than previously if she saw it tonight. If I leave it and she didn't see it tonight, she'll notice later that it's misplaced. I just messaged her something and got a friendly average response. So I'm not sure at this moment she knows I know about it. She would've taken it all, yelled down for me, or not respond so friendly. This is the paradox of all time. Help. Sos

I can't stress enough that the Xenoblade series is best enjoyed with as little information known about the story as possible. If you have any interest in the series and want to play it yourself, please leave this post. The TLDR is that this game was incredible and you should play it. I'm putting down my thoughts here, and while I won't try and mention major spoilers I am only human. I'm casually writing this on reddit and if you're sensitive about spoilers please proceed with caution.
A bad first impression can be a death sentence in a video game. With hundreds of quality titles coming out every year for multiple platforms, needing to get the attention of a player is critical to success. While gaming has gone mainstream it is still a hobby of enthusiasts at its core. Word of mouth can make or break a game. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 may have had the advantage of being the first big JRPG specifically for Switch, but in 2023 this game has something of a bad reputation. It's character designs are over sexualized to the point of obnoxious, it's main character is a whiney loser and it's a grind fest littered with frequent and bad tutorials.
I'm not going to deny or defend points like this. Not because I don't think they aren't valid, but because it doesn't matter. In my opinion Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and it's DLC, Torna the Golden Country, is an absolute masterclass of what the interactive medium can do for story telling. It is a one foot in front of the other story about friendship, war, betrayal, ethics, loss, grief etc etc. Helped along by the sheer time investment and a myriad of in game systems, Xenoblade games create a feeling akin to shows like One Piece. If you're a fan of that anime you know exactly what I mean. Emotional moments are set up far in advance and before long you really start to believe in the world you're reading.
I'm not going to pretend it's the deepest or most complex story ever told. It's got stupid anime tropes littered throughout. Bathhouse scenes, maid robots, girl hitting boy cause hur dur boy dumb and pervert. A lot of nonsense.
At the same time the writing is so good that characters transcend their tropes and you easily start to see the entire main cast and antagonists (with one major exception) as fully realized, very complicated people. The little robot maid girl made by a perverted volley ball? She's struggling with concepts like mortality, grief and what it means to be alive. Pyra's design gets a ton of flack, but at the same time the ultimate pay off as to what she is and why she's the way she is makes her one of the best written characters I've seen in a game in a long time. Rex is in a lot of ways a poorly acted Shonen main character, but he's also charismatic and earnest enough that you can't help but what him to succeed.
I'm left here less than an hour after beating the game wondering...what is next? What is going to top something like Xenoblade Chronicles 2? This game made my cry my eyes out because it's such a powerful story on a purely emotional level. I feel a strong urge to praise it because I feel like more people need to play this game. Play the entire series! If you have a switch then you should play these games! They're incredible works of fiction and I'm sure as hell going to go into Xenoblade 3 hyped.
Video games are uniquely suited to tell incredible emotional stories because more than any other medium it engages the audience. This was a bit of a rant but hopefully I at least made a little sense.
