Defending the Draft: Seattle Seahawks
2023.06.03 23:57 Caulibflower Defending the Draft: Seattle Seahawks
Seattle’s 2023 class represents the second half of a draft-based reload which began last year, after the Seahawks finally admitted they were suffocating Russell Wilson and traded him to Denver so that he could fulfill his destiny. We were left with an unevenly-talented but surprisingly feisty roster which outperformed expectations all the way into the playoffs.
Our front office has been candid about some of its past mistakes in the draft, the most glaring of which have come when the team goes for need over talent. Last year, with the first half of our extra draft picks, we focused on acquiring as much talent as possible, rather than trying to address specific holes. The 2023 draft is very similar in that regard. In free agency, the team was restrained but practical, and added a few mid-range players to ensure a baseline of competency at the most problematic positions. This allowed them even more flexibility and leeway to be aggressive about drafting for talent.
What Seattle wants to be in 2023: I believe that Seattle would have loved to take Anthony Richardson, but the price to trade up was clearly too high. BUT - this is also a testament to the faith that they have in Geno Smith. They were not going to give up multiple first round picks when they think that Geno’s ceiling includes the potential for a Super Bowl run. I believe that is how the front office is looking at this team: They have a boatload of high draft picks over the last two years, which means an unusual number of blue chip prospects on cheap contracts. They also have a QB who has far outplayed his expectations, and if he can continue playing to even a
similar level in 2023, will be outplaying his updated contract as well. I do think that Seattle has tried to take the burden off of Geno with the way that they drafted - but again,
this has always been Pete Carroll’s philosophy. Pete Carroll
doesn’t want the team to live or die on the arm of the quarterback. So, Seattle drafted to make every other part of the roster stronger and more competitive.
THE DRAFT 1.05) Devon Witherspoon - CB, Illinois While I haven’t made much of Seattle’s needs, it’s obvious to anyone who watches the Seahawks that the defense needs dramatic improvement for this team to reach the next level. Tariq Woolen was a huge surprise as a rookie and a breakout star at right cornerback, but Seattle lacked an obvious answer on the opposite side. Devon Witherspoon is a true tone-setter for the defense as well as the perfect complement to Tariq at left cornerback. Where Tariq is supremely long, fast and fluid, Devon Witherspoon is smaller but more in-your-face. He’s
violent, which is an unusual as well as a very exciting trait to list among the first attributes of a cornerback. The speed at which he triggers and the force with which he strikes ballcarriers are special for the position, and that physicality is especially welcome on the left side where he’ll be playing. But he’s also an adept cover man who posted great ball production in college (3 picks and 14 passes broken up in 2022), and for as much as his hitting pops off the screen, it’s actually his mental game which is most exciting of all.
He is one of those players who always seems to know what is happening before anyone else does - it looks like he’s guessing, but when he’s consistently right, over and over, it becomes apparent that he has a truly unusual aptitude for reading the game. That’s not just my own opinion, either - in Pete Carroll’s own words:
“His make-up … how he approaches the game, the way he sees his opportunities and stuff. I’ve always held Troy in high regard in that. (Devon Witherspoon) is the closest I’ve come to that, someone talking and acting and performing like that … We’ve not seen a guy like this.” 1.20) Jaxon Smith-Njigba - WR, Ohio State Tyler Lockett is 30, and going into his age-31 season. People talk about his upcoming cap hit, but he’s still nearly un-cuttable until 2025 due to dead money. Is a trade possible? Maybe, but that somehow feels unlikely. Does the team know that Tyler plans to retire relatively soon? It’s plausible - he does already have a fairly successful side gig going as a realtor. But where I’m actually going with this is … Seattle really needed a 3rd wide receiver even if the whole gang stays together. Dee Eskridge was meant to be that guy a couple of years ago, and it just hasn’t happened. JSN is on another level as a prospect, and by taking over the slot, allows DK and Tyler more freedom to attack the deep third of the field. I think we’ll see all three of them lined up in every position over the course of the season, but the way that JSN is able to attack the short and middle areas with body positioning and quick separation will potentially change the way our whole passing game works - even if he only logs, say, 50 or 60 catches. I’d be really happy with that from him in year 1.
It’s worth mentioning as well - our current OC (who some speculate could be our HC-in-waiting) is Shane Waldron, who was with the Rams as they unlocked the 90+ catch potential of Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. JSN has the exact attributes to thrive in that kind of scheme - lots of digs, crosses, and pop routes off of play action - probably even more so than DK or Tyler. So even if he doesn’t go huge in year 1, this feels like a slam dunk pick for the future of this offense.
2.37) Derick Hall - EDGE, Auburn Similar to Devon Witherspoon, Derick Hall is violent. The Seahawks defense has distinctly lacked a certain intimidation factor over the last few years, and Hall is another attempt to rectify that. There were some split opinions on Hall, but
there are some indications that the Seahawks had Hall rated as a first-round talent on their big board. He’s not a refined rusher, but he’s very well-built and physical, and meets blockers with speed, aggression, and power.
Oftentimes we see elite athletes at the EDGE position we assume that they’ll be finesse players, but Hall is the opposite: while he’s squatty (a shade under 6’3” and 255) and very long (34” arms), he also boasts a 93rd percentile broad and 94th percentile 40 yard dash: he’s not trying to beat you around the corner, he’s a freight train with a dragster’s throttle and he’s going to hit you at full speed. He joins an already-young and talented group of EDGE defenders that includes stud free agent signing Uchenna Nwosu and two other recent 2nd-rounders in Darrell Taylor and Boye Mafe. Especially with EDGE rushers, it’s great to have a rotation. You love having a deep group that keeps each other fresh and allows you the flexibility to adapt to situations or matchups. Taylor and Mafe bring more of the typical bend and burst you expect from athletic EDGE players, and Hall’s power and violence is a welcome addition to the mix.
2.52) Zach Charbonnet - RB, UCLA While fantasy football nerds everywhere donned black to mourn the wasted futures of both Ken Walker III and Zach Charbonnet,
I chuckled to myself. There’s quite a lot of detail on this situation in that link, but the basic upshot is this: Seattle’s front office had Zach Charbonnet very high on their draft board.
He was in consideration as early as pick 37, where they took Derick Hall. Our running game didn’t work very well last year when KWIII was injured, and they want to make sure that doesn’t happen again. But furthermore, even while KWIII was one of the most explosive running backs in the league as a rookie, he was also inconsistent. He ripped off a bunch of big runs, but there were a lot of others where he left meat on the bone.
I’m not suggesting that the rookie version of KWIII is his ceiling, but there was more room for improvement than I think is appreciated by a lot of people who don’t watch the Seahawks. Charbonnet doesn’t have the same breakaway ability, but on a run-to-run basis, he appears to be more consistent at getting 3 or 4 yards in the kinds of spots where KWIII was getting 1 or 2. Pete Carroll
really wants a consistent run game, and if KWIII isn’t delivering that, he might just turn out to be the most exciting 1B in the league. Or maybe he’ll really take ownership of the 1A role and this situation looks a bit like the best of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt for the next 3 years. Bottom line: Charbonnet provides high-end depth to a position that has really struggled with injuries in recent years while also offering more potential as a pass blocker, more skill as a receiver, and more consistency and physicality as a ballcarrier. It’ll be really interesting to see how that shakes out in the touch ratios, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Charbonnet comes in and takes the priority spot on the depth chart.
Pete Carroll indicates that he and Ken Walker will just have to battle it out. 4.108) Anthony Bradford - OG, LSU While Seattle managed to nab not one but
two starting offensive tackles in last year’s draft, the interior offensive line continued to be a mixed bag. Damien Lewis is entering the 4th year of his rookie contract and has been a little up-and-down since moving from RG to LG after a very good rookie season, and RG Gabe Jackson is currently a free agent. One of Seattle’s only notable FA signings was Detroit’s OC/G Evan Brown, whose 1-year deal gave us a veteran baseline at both C and G going into the draft. They've also got Phil Haynes, a 4th round pick himself from 2019 who's never secured a starting role but has shown some ability when given the opportunity. Anthony Bradford will be expected to compete with both of them for the RG spot in 2023 and hopefully be ready to take over by 2024.
Bradford is another tone-setter. His agility is average, but
his combination of bulk and power is high-end - he’s 330 pounds and put up 34 bench reps while still testing in the top 25% of all interior linemen for his jumps and sprints. This pick is another demonstration of Seattle’s priorities: they want to play a physical brand of football on both sides of the ball. There’s a simplicity to this pick, summarized neatly by an anonymous offensive line coach at the bottom of of his NFL.com prospect profile:
“I’ll take size and power all day over finesse guards who can move but don’t have any pop to them.” It’s worth noting that Seattle picked here because Denver gave up their 2024 3rd round pick to swap 4.108 for pick 3.83. It seems relatively likely that 2024 pick is higher than 3.83, which in turn sort of makes this feel like a free 4th rounder. (Why does Denver want us to have so much of their draft capital?)
4.123) Cameron Young - DT, Mississippi State One of Seattle’s biggest needs was interior defensive line, and this feels like one of the most obvious ‘need’ picks of the draft - though it’s telling that it doesn’t feel like Seattle specifically targeted a need until the middle rounds.
Cam Young isn’t a dynamic pass rusher, but he’s well-built for the interior and has very, very long arms (34.5”). He’s got a good anchor and combined with that length, gives us a viable player at nose tackle. He doesn’t
have to be flashy to be an early contributor on the interior rotation, and by day 3 any consistent contribution feels like great value for any pick.
5.151) Mike Morris - DL, Michigan Mike Morris is an interesting pick because he’s likely to play a different position for us than he played at Michigan, where he often played from a 2-point stance. He’s most likely going to be a 5-tech for us (a base end in 3-4/hybrid looks), because while he’s
athletic - in the sense that he moves very well, shows decent balance, and has good hand-eye coordination - he’s not really explosive or twitchy enough to drop back into coverage or challenge offensive tackles with speed.
But he’s also huge. He’s over 6’5”, weighed 275 at the combine and will play around 290 for Seattle.
Pete Carroll has indicated that he’ll play a similar role to Dre’Mont Jones and Jarran Reed, who are both 300-lb defensive ends in our scheme. Similarly to Young, a lack of depth in the rotation opens the possibility for early snaps.
5.154) Olusegun Oluwatimi - OC, Michigan Now, he’s a pick that got a number of people pretty excited. I was personally a little bit surprised that they took Mike Morris ahead of “Olu Olu,” as center was both a bigger need than 5-tech, and Olu Olu was also widely regarded as a better prospect. But not only was Olu Olu regarded as a better prospect - many people thought that he could go as early as the 3rd or 4th round. PFF loves him, the Senior Bowl’s Jim Nagy loves him, and so did CFB’s awards - in 2022 he won both the Rimington Award as the nations best center as well as the Outland Trophy as the nation’s best interior lineman.
How did he slip to the 5th round? When you look at his scouting reports, you see terms like ‘functional athleticism’ and ‘adequate agility.’ We don’t have agility numbers for him, so it may well be that he simply knows his strengths - and that said, he
does have some physical advantages. He’s about 310, which is on the larger side for a center, pretty good length, and also shows some legitimate explosiveness and power with his jumps and bench. But beyond that, he was a 4-year starter at Michigan who has loads of experience against top competition and a wide variety of defensive schemes. He’s smart. He can make all the calls, he knows where to be, and a center play goes a long way when a guy is in the right place at the right time while bringing plenty of power with him. Like Anthony Bradford, Olu will be challenging Evan Brown for an immediate role on the interior line. There’s guarantee, but there is a real chance this is our starting center for the next several years - and for a 5th round pick, just the legitimacy of that possibility represents a tremendous value.
6.198) Jerrick Reed II - S/DB, New Mexico Not many people know who Jerrick Reed is, and that’s ok - he’s used to it. An undersized defensive back at 5’9” 196, Reed has done nothing but produce from high school, to community college, and eventually to a D-I scholarship to New Mexico State where he started for all 4 years. This continues a trend: the Seahawks again have taken a smart, tough player with lots of starting experience, who is a very hard worker, and who loves and understands the game. That will be important for a late-round pick trying to make the team, but the path to playing time might be shorter than you’d think.
When Seattle signed Julian Love in free agency, there were questions about what that meant for Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams.
Apparently, per Pete Carroll, it doesn’t mean anything - they intend to play a lot of 3-safety looks. It’s worth noting that this is something they were already doing at the beginning of last year, before Jamal Adams got injured (again). If this defense is playing with 3 safeties much of the time - which is made even more likely by the lack of depth and talent at off-ball linebacker - then a 4th or 5th safety is much closer than usual to being an immediate backup. Reed’s not going to get any looks on the outside, but he can legitimately back up the free safety, strong safety, and nickel positions. He also has a ton of experience on special teams, and the ability to fill 4 or more different roles on a squad is exactly the kind of thing that makes depth guys stick to final rosters.
7.237) Kenny McIntosh - RB, Georgia Similar to Olu Olu, Kenny McIntosh is a player who many people thought could go much earlier than he did. The problem with Kenny McIntosh - in my opinion - is simply that he had a very worrying series of predraft measurements. He seemingly dropped weight to run at the combine,
but only managed a 4.63 at 204 lbs. He was back up to 216 for Georgia’s pro day, but again only managed a 4.66 along with some other mediocre-to-poor numbers. Teams seemed more interested in other more-explosive backs, or runners with better resumes as pure ballcarriers.
But at this point in the draft, that lack of interest became Seattle’s gain. Because in Seattle, Kenny McIntosh is not only going to be allowed to play to his strengths - he’s going to be
expected to, because there’s a specific role on this team for a player exactly like him. One of the Seahawks most underrated losses this offseason was running back Travis Homer. It wouldn’t surprise me if most people don’t know who he is, but he had a definite role as a third-down back in addition to special teams duties. Like Jerrick Reed, it will definitely help McIntosh’s case for a roster spot if he can prove his worth on special teams.
But he may not have to. Travis Homer was not a particularly good ballcarrier. He was small - also around 205 - wasn’t creative, wasn’t powerful, wasn’t especially fast or twitchy. But he was a tremendous pass blocker and a serviceable receiver, and those two things earned him about a quarter of all offensive snaps (484) in games he played in over the last 3 seasons. If that seems high, that’s because it is - especially for a running back who only touched the ball 106 times in that span. Compare that to DeeJay Dallas, who had about half-again as many touches on a similar number of snaps.
While Ken Walker III and Zach Charbonnet are going to be the running backs who the offense specifically tries to feed the ball, Kenny McIntosh could easily be the running back that the team wants on the field in the most obvious passing situations. Zach Charbonnet was
also one of the most productive receivers among college running backs, but Kenny McIntosh is probably smoother and more refined as both a route runner and a receiver.
McIntosh registered zero drops on 90 targets, posted a PFF grade over 90 as a receiver, and is also already a very reliable pass blocker. That means there’s already a role for him on the Seahawks, and KWIII and Charbs aren’t necessarily in his way - if anything, those guys might be battling for the 3rd-down snaps that Seattle’s coaches assume will go to McIntosh. Again, as with several of these other day three picks - this 7th rounder enters training camp with a great shot to take hold of an important role early on. He may only log 20 carries and 20 catches in the stat book over the course of the season, but it might also be on 150-200 snaps, and in important game situations. And if he’s able to keep KWIII and Charbs that much fresher, and especially if he’s just
the best for those situations, once again that’s tremendous value for the back end of the draft.
I’m really excited for this draft class.
Go Hawks.

2023.06.03 17:50 ProtectionRealistic5 Guideline of Skills Essential to Athleticism (Long)
Below I've outlined what I believe are the 9 skills that define a balanced athlete. There are definitions for them as well as a few sentences of why I believe that skill's development is important (through a volleyball lens). This won't be a crazy peer reviewed paper, so keep that in mind. Anyone who wants to build a complete workout or may not know exactly what area in their athleticism is weak should be able to get something from this. This post is a bit long so if you don't want to read it all, you can just skim through the skills and give feedback as to whether I missed anything.
- Strength
Strength is the ability to create force. Think strongmen or power lifters. As a volleyball player, you will want a leaner physique as excess muscle will only slow you down. Getting a good strength to weight ratio through callisthenics is an excellent way to improve this area and also free. Do keep in mind that avoiding a bulky frame doesn’t mean you should shy away from lifting weights. Squatting 1.5x your weight is the target range I see for a lot for jumpers training vert. Deadlifts are also an important exercise for strengthening the glutes which do 40% of the work jumping! They will give you no results without weights. Strengthening your fingers and entire arm will help you set from longer distances when needed, overhead pass better, give you a great block, and improve the occasional joust so don’t forget to train them as well.
- Speed
Getting from point A to B in as small a time frame as possible. For sprinting there are 4 phases: Start, Acceleration, Driving (top end speed), and Deceleration. I believe a player should focus on accelerating and decelerating since the court is small enough that your top speed isn’t AS important as how fast you can get to it or hit the brakes. Acceleration carries over well for improving your jumping ability in a hitting approach too. You will be able to add more momentum into your jump with good speed. Being able to decelerate fast will allow you to get back in position quickly among other things. It is very beneficial to be able to stop on a dime at will.
- Power
The ability to create maximal force in minimal time. This is especially important for jumping high, hitting hard, serving, etc. You will want to train explosively while gaining strength AND speed as these will affect how much power you can produce. An MMA middleweight will be able to produce more force in their punches and kicks than someone with say, 20-30 lbs of extra muscle if they lack power. Same reason why someone at your local gym who might squat or curl the most wouldn’t necessarily be the best jumper or throw the hardest.
- Agility
The most relevant characteristics of an agile individual are nimble feet, the ability to change directions while maintaining speed, and the ability to move quickly from one movement pattern to another. Moving to either pin for a block or getting behind a pass in a split second and adjusting your platform accordingly. Chasing down a bad pass and diving to keep a rally going. Transitioning from defence to offence and vice versa. I personally like to associate agility with quick reflexes as well. All of this won’t amount to much if you can’t process the information fast. This skill is priceless to any athlete.
- Balance
The ability to perform movements with precision and grace; maintaining equilibrium. Balance may not seem like it’s that important at first. It’s not like situations arise in a game where you need a gymnasts level of balance. Although, if you can improve your mid-air stability and overall coordination, you will have way more control over your body. Balance is something you will need to have in order to use your power correctly. If you are leaning too far left or you begin falling backwards when hitting, the result will be a weak hit or even one out of bounds. Recently I have been training a lot with single leg balance while closing my eyes to train this (try this on your toes if it’s too easy). The core also aids in balance off the ground so train it as well .
- Mobility
Another aspect of fitness that few actively train. Essentially it is flexibility in motion. Remaining strong at the upper levels of your flexibility is key for avoiding injuries and strength in unconventional positions. Sinking low for passes or getting a full range of motion in your arms will increase your longevity and effective playing range. Stretching dynamically and statically are great for gaining mobility and warming up. I’ve started static stretching only after exercise though as I have heard that doing it prior to activity can actually
decrease performance and even increase injury!
- Game Sense
Sports IQ and adaptability. Adaptability is how well you adjust to different scenarios or environmental changes. It sucks having knowledge of tactics if you can’t put that knowledge to use deceptively or in a timely fashion. Watching high level games and learning as much as possible. Playing with better players than you. Having a good coach training you. Memorising various plays and knowing when to employ them. These are all ways to deepen game sense. The mind is your greatest tool.
- Stamina
Specifically anaerobic capacity which is the maximal work performed during maximum-intensity short term physical effort. Volleyball has a lot of situations where you will be standing or shifting at one moment, and the next you will be exerting a lot of effort. You will want to train high intensity intervals, maximal effort sprints. This will train your body to withstand lactic acid and slow its accumulation. Sprints will help develop acceleration too so they are a great addition to anyone's training.
- Accuracy
One of, if not the most important skill to have in volleyball. Whether you are a setting, passing, or hitting you will need it. What good is all of the above if you can’t keep the ball in the court or serve receive well? Proper technique (which could probably be its own category) is a key component for gaining better aim while also keeping your body safe. No further explanations needed.
Hopefully I was able to get my point across coherently. This is my first time trying out a higher effort post, so let me know what needs improvement. I based it off an article (
The Ten Components of Complete Athleticism) and I added or removed categories until I felt like I covered the main tenets of athleticism. Wikipedia was also a resource that I used. Did I miss any points that could have been added? Or was there a part that I was wrong in that needed correcting? Maybe even a tenth athletic skill I had failed to think of... All feedback is encouraged. All edits were to the formatting and spelling.

2023.06.03 17:18 Gullible_Air_7363 First post
Hello all, 27m here. I've been silently reading posts for about a month now. Starting back in January I started an episode of health anxiety that has continued and hasn't stopped yet, I gave up hope and just layed around for 3 or 4 months, I've literally went from one thing to the next, eg; I initially thought I had lung cancer from sharp pains in my chest, and slightly altered taste. I had x-rays and a ct scan which came back clear. Then thought maybe it was in my stomach so I had an abdominal ct scan which also came back clear. My brain went from one terminal illness to the next, constantly thinking im dying from something. At one point i got so scared of a bump i found on my throat, which was my thyroid gland lol, that i almost passed out. April comes around and I'm still thinking something is going on my doctors are telling me it's anxiety causing all my issues, I'm prescribed hydroxyzine for anxiety I took that for about 30 days with little to no effect, they switched me to lexapro 10mg, this is where all my present issues started. On my 2nd day of lexapro I notice a twitch in my calf muscle so you guessed it I googled it. Dr.Google says congrats you have **. That evening I lay down for bed and no exaggeration instantly twitching from my head to toes, fast twitches 100 a minute literally all over. So I decided to stop taking the lexapro after only 2 doses hoping it's what caused it. It didn't stop, it has severely slowed down, I get maybe 2 or 3 twitches a minute now, not rapid twitches like when it started, now they're like little single pops, anywhere from my feet to the top of my head in random spots, occasionally ill get a twitch somewhere that lasts a few seconds, I have shaky fingers and shaky movements, and occasional slight leg jerk when I lay down, it feels like I get fatigued easier than normal. I'm having random sharp pains all over that only last a few seconds, even under my kneecaps. I'm also having what might be sensory issues like a slight tingle on one side of my big toe occasionally and the feeling that something is stuck between my toes sometimes. 3 days ago I felt there may be something wrong with my throat because I'm constantly clearing my throat (I Vape). I'm poking and rubbing at my throat all day then the next day I have an odd tight feeling in my throat and my brain tells me I have bulbar onset, crazy right? Well today it seems that my throat feels better I feel I can still swallow fine, talk fine and from what I've noticed I haven't lost any strength. I can still run and play with my 3yo throw him up and swing him around. But man this twitching is annoying as can be, ill be enjoying my day then boom ill feel a twitch somewhere and automatic anxiety. It's only been a little over a month since it started and I've requested to see a neuro but it seems my doctor is blowing it off, I have a mri coming up in less than 2 weeks, I'm terrified of **. Just last night I had an anxiety attack because I thought I seen atrophy on my forearm that could just be nothing. BTW I had lead poisoning as an infant, just wanted to see what everyone else thought about this.

2023.06.03 13:09 boomerbobby69420 Job requires weight loss
I'll try to keep it tldr. I signed a job contract that requires me to be under 230 lbs. This job is the only one I've seen in this industry with a weight requirement. I am required to get a physical which verifies weight and then on day 1 weight is checked again. Because this is a physical labor job where I'm carrying 30-70 lbs of gear on me this company will not allow a person to be over 300 lbs with full kit (70 lb kit). I guess it's for insurance purposes which I've never heard of. Also this was not went over with as part of the job offer, other companies in this field do not require it
The problem is, I weighed myself today and I'm 277.... And the job starts August 1. So I have to lose 47 lbs in 59 days.
Is this weightloss even possible? I don't want to just starve myself because although 277 is high I also have quite a bit of muscle and strength from carrying and working with heavy a$$ stuff. For reference I'm 6 foot and 39 years old.
TIA

2023.06.03 11:28 Rainbow6SiegeCreator What If Legends and Canon Merged? Part 13: Republic Anew
5 years had past since the formation of the New Republic and the SkywalkeKenobi Academy, a new Squadron had been formed with the veteran General Hera Syndulla leading the very vessel they had become a part of. This group was known as the New Republic Rangers. This force had composed of ground troops, pilots, and others with exceptional skills. Leading this group in Syndylla's absence were Carson Teva, and Cara Dune. Hera trusted this team not only because of their reputations, but also due to her personal accounts of their advisor, Zeb Orrelios.
When the Jedi had arrived, the new Republic soldiers stood at attention in respect for the Grandmaster who saved the galaxy from the Imperial regime. Luke reunited with his old friend Wedge Antilles, X2 reunited with Grey Squadron and his wife Shara, Ezra reunited with Zeb and met the new team as well as Hera, who embraced him along with the still-so-devious astromech droid Chopper. The 3 Ghost crew members almost teared up when they found out Ezra and Sabine married.
Hera: [Through tears of joy] Ezra, Sabine, I'm... I'm... so proud of you both. I had a feeling this would happen.
Zeb: I'm proud of you too, kid. You two have grown up so much. Bet you didn't miss this bucket of bolts.
Chopper gave his version of a nudge to the Lasat and the old friends and Bridger couple said their goodbyes as they moved to their military posts.
Back at the Temple, Rex and Ahsoka had been teaching their son, Anakin Tano many aspects of their expertise, but this particular lesson was from his father who had realized that his age caught up with him.
Rex: Son, Your mother and I served with your namesake for years, and You have been made aware of my aging. This won't happen to you, but I have things I wish to leave behind. The shrine has been entrusted to Luke's apprentice, but my armor, when you get old enough, as well as my blasters will be yours. Add my helmet to the shrine, give it to Grey. Learn the ways of the Force, like your mother, and her master before you. My mission is over. Continue with yours, and protect all that you love.
With those words, the mother and son embraced in grief. With a heavy heart, Anakin tried to bring himself to give his father's helmet to the Grandmaster's padawan.
Grey: Hello, little guy. What's your name?
Anakin: My name is Anakin Tano. My father told me to give you this.
X2 had then realized who his father and mother were. He then took the helmet and remembered what to do with it. He then asked the child if he wanted to accompany him.
Grey: Do you want to see what your father had referred to?
Anakin: Sure. What is it he wanted to put his helmet for?
Grey: Your father told you of the adventures he had with your mother?
Anakin: Yes.
Grey: After the Clone Wars ended, Your father started collecting helmets of fallen brothers, essentially your millions of uncles, who he was close with. He wanted his helmet on this shrine so he could continue being with them, in spirit.
Anakin: So my father has now joined my uncles in the Force?
Grey: Yes. Like your mother and many Jedi like her believe. When we see the shrine, you can ask anyone who knew your uncles about them, any time you like.
Anakin: Thank you. For everything.
Back at the Temple, Cal Kestis had been teaching the younglings Luke's 3 forms of combat. Form 8 included the use of a primary lightsaber and shoto secondary as needed much like Niman. Luke had been training in this style after making his red shoto from Ahsoka. Form 9 included the use of saber staves, crossguard sabers, and heavy strikes. Ben Solo had been training in this form as his base for when he would create a suitable saber in the future. Form 10 included using the lightsaber as a offensive shield in tandem with a blaster. Kata Akuna, Jacen Syndulla, and Ezra Bridger were the beat students with this form, since Kata saw her father use this form, and Ezra's first blade merged the two types of weapons. As the younglings and older students continued practicing, Kestis had begun having a vision.
Figure: Your family is unprotected. Only your hatred can keep them safe. The Dark Side that you have tasted before has been your savior time and time again. There is much to learn. All you need to do is embrace it! Remember those you've lost, your masters, your best friend, the Jedi Order. Give yourself to it!!
As Cal jolted out of the vision, Merrin came rushing over to comfort the Jedi Battlemaster.
When Luke and the other Jedi returned, he began to organize a meeting of the most powerful and wisest Jedi. Ahsoka, Starkiller, Luke, Cal, and Quinlan Vos had met in a round holotable that was reminiscent of the rebel base. X2, Merrin, and Jacen Syndulla kept watch over the rest of the youngling's training.
Luke: Thank you all for attending this inaugural meeting of the Jedi Council.
Quinlan: I never sat on the council of old before, feels a little weird sitting on one now.
Ahsoka: This is a first for me as well. I remember my master and Master Kenobi being on the council, but I never got the chance.
Luke: We are the wisest that remain of the Jedi, hence why I had chosen you all to serve on the council. Those from the order of old for advisory roles, some who are powerful in many aspects, and those who are willing to provide insight to how the Jedi can be reformed?
Cal: Reformed how exactly?
Luke: Master Kestis, what was the rule on attachment in the order of old?
Cal: That it was forbidden. When I was on Jeddha, I realized that I couldn't let it hold me back. I allowed myself to love unconditionally and now I have not only the child I adopted, but my own with my wife.
Ahsoka: I also had a husband after the battle of Endor, my son and I recently lost him to his accelerated aging.
Quinlan: You had a kid with a clone?
Ahsoka: Remember Captain Rex?
Quinlan: Skywalker's clone leader? Yes. Oh, oh, ooooohhhh.
Starkiller: I also married a pilot. She has been by my side, and we have two children.
Cal: How many of us are there supposed to be, if you don't mind me asking?
Luke: We would start with 6.
Starkiller: There's 5 of us here.
Luke: I understand. We were hoping to put allowing Ezra Bridger to the council.
Ahsoka: I believe that he would make an excellent addition to the council. He has a great tie to our Mandalorian Allies, being married to one.
Starkiller: His combat prowess has not changed since he was lost for years.
Quinlan: Alright. We survived the Empire due to our bending of the rules of the old Jedi Code. This can be more my speed.
Luke: Let's bring the decision to a vote. Those in favor of appointing Ezra Bridger to this council?
Ahsoka: Aye.
Starkiller: Aye.
Luke: Aye. Opposed?
Cal: Nay.
Quinlan: Nay.
Luke: Very well. Majority has decided to welcome Ezra Bridger to the council. Motion passed.
Quinlan: Alright. Guess we can throw away the old code.
Luke: All part of reformation, Master Vos.
Cal: I understand that my family and I have been away from the galaxy for quite some time. We can learn from him as well he learns from us.
Luke: Excellent, everyone. Council adjourned.
As Ezra arrived to the council chambers in his beskar armor, he had seen 3 familiar faces which only comforted him slightly.
Ezra: Council, you have requested my presence here.
Luke: Yes, Bridger. You know Ahsoka Tano, Galen Marek, but allow me to introduce Master Quinlan Vos, and Battlemaster Cal Kestis.
Ezra: A pleasure to meet you both.
Quinlan: Likewise.
Ahsoka: You have been brought before us due to your wisdom and ties to Mandalore, as well as your ability to maintain your dedication to the light.
Starkiller: Your confidence under pressure is commendable and your composure is inspiring for the other students.
Ezra: I understand.
Luke: We invite you to join this council and we grant you the rank of Master.
Ezra was shocked to hear this news from Luke, especially when he knew he had yet to train someone to use the Force.
Ezra: Thank you for this invitation, but I have yet to be a teacher.
Ahsoka: Kanan taught you really well. You have a great ability to bond with others.
Ezra: I see. I accept the seat on the Jedi Council.
As Ezra took his seat, the remaining Jedi had begun thinking of who to train out of the students they have.
Luke: Out of our oldest students here, it seems that even though most of them are our own children, they may need to learn to have different teachers other than parents.
Cal: What about allowing attachment in the Order?
Luke: Attachment can be good, if the attachments are healthy. Some separation can be good for some of the students.
Quinlan: Like how the Jedi of old used to do?
Luke: No, Master Vos. Most of the attachments already formed have been between some Jedi and their children.
Ahsoka: We can discuss this in another meeting.
Starkiller: She's right. Let's move on.
Luke: Thank you, Master Marek. Since I already have a padawan, we have 5 students that need a teacher.
Cal: 4. Kata Akuna is well trained enough by my wife in basic combat tactics, but since her father was a Jedi, I feel it's my duty to train her in the Force and lightsaber techniques. We have been Way from the galaxy for quite some time, and I don't want to overwhelm her with so much at once.
Luke: I see. We can remove her from the list. First, we must discuss who is to train Satine Kenobi Kryze.
Ezra: I will train her.
Luke: What case do you make for the daughter of my Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Ezra: She is also the daughter of Bo-Katan Kryze, leader of Mandalore. With my ties to Mandalore and wisdom previously mentioned by Master Tano, she can learn to marry the ways of the Jedi and the ways of Mandalore in a healthy and coherent way.
Luke: Master Tano, any opposing statements?
Ahsoka: No, Grandmaster. Ezra's connections to Mandalore run deeper than mine.
Luke: It's settled then. Satine Kryze will be trained by Master Ezra Bridger. Next, we have Jacen Syndulla-Dume.
Ahsoka: I will train him.
Luke: What case do you make for young Syndulla-Dume?
Ahsoka: He is the grandson of a famous freedom fighter named Cham Syndulla. Like his grandfather and mother before him, he will be one of the greatest heroes in the galaxy.
Luke: Any opposing statements?
The room had looked around for any opposition to the scenario at hand, with nothing but silence.
Luke: Very well. Master Ahsoka Tano will take Jacen Syndulla-Dume as her apprentice. Master Marek, Master Vos, would you like to teach a student?
Quinlan: I've had enough adventure for a lifetime. I'll keep the records and preserve what Jocasta Nu had attempted to maintain. She had sent many pieces of information through The Path, hopefully most of it was preserved.
Cal: I actually have some left from a holdout on Jeddha that Vader burnt to the ground a few years back.
Starkiller: I believe that in order for me to be a teacher, my personal demons must be conquered first.
Luke: We respect your decision.
As the council adjourned on Yavin 4, another Force-sensitive being has been imprisoned by a group of pirates on Nevarro. As he used his cradle pod to hide from the danger, he had heard blaster fire in the distance. A bounty hunter clad in Mandalorian style armor, by the name of Din Djarin, and a long forgotten IG assassin droid, IG-11, had eliminated the pirates guarding their bounty. The droid had orders to execute the child, but the Mandalorian had orders to bring it to a client who would pay rather handsomely for the job. After the droid fell to a blaster shot to the chest, The beskar clad hunter brought the pod to the Empire. When the hunter got there, he was paid in beskar stamped with the Imperial seal. When the hunter took his payment, he began to feel a weight slowly growing heavier on his shoulders.
After the mandalorian got paid in beskar, he returned to the undercity lair of the Armourer to Forge the pieces he needed.
Armourer: How much do you have for me?
Djarin: How much will this do?
Armorer: Whatever work you found paid you handsomely. I'll send for you when it is ready.
Djarin: Thank you.
Armourer: This is the way.
Djarin: This is the way.
As the two separated, Djarin had collected his single shot disintegrator rifle and IB-94 pistol and began to plan on rescuing the child. When he got a message from his contractor, it was to meet him at the cantina, but he made another stop to the Armourer to inspect his new armor. When he arrived there was a new complete set of armor from the shoulders down.
Armourer: You have brought a great amount to work with. What do you plan to do?
Djarin: Correct a mistake. One that if left as is, will besmirch my honor.
Armourer: This is The Way.
Djarin: This is The Way.
When Djarin arrived at the cantina, the room began to quiet down in astonishment and intimidation. The baskar clad hunter then met with the contractor, Greef Karga. To discuss the job that had gone down.
Greef: Wow, Mando. I take it the client paid you well. All that armor definitely doesn't come cheap.
Djarin: The payout was a handsome one, but I've made a mistake, one I must correct before my honor is worthless.
Greef: Why? Who was your client?
Djarin: The beskar that the client paid me with had Imperial symbols on it.
Greef: Isn't the Empire gone? What would they need- We shouldn't even ask those questions, cause that's not our job.
Djarin: I'm getting him back. This is The Way.
Karga thought that Djarin had gone crazy taking on the Empire. He then kept his head down and put away the bounty puck, saving it for another hunter who wasn't as susceptible to any hokey religions and ancient weapons, as a smuggler turned Alliance hero once said, but only susceptible to credits.
In the New Republic, Generals Solo and Syndulla had sat down discussing some military tactics for defending the new territories and liberating others, and even giving her a piece of information that he could no longer bear his portion of.
Hera: I heard that you joined us moments before Yavin and rescued the Princess of Alderaan. Your kid is studying alongside mine at Skywalker's temple.
Han: Yeah. As much as I tried with her, eventually I succeeded, little did I know that the family drama would be mine to carry along with the Skywalker twins.
Hera: The princess isn't a Skywalker.
Han: She is. Luke is her brother. I'm the only one besides Chewie, Ahsoka, and those ghosts he sometimes talks to.
Hera: Her position in the senate will be up for grabs if that information gets out.
Han: Then you will keep that secret just as I have, that Chewie and Ahsoka have, before she loses potential power in the Senate. Anyways, have we found any more Imperials?
As the conversation continued, Sabine had begun talking to Zeb about joining the team of New Republic Rangers.
Sabine: Hey, Zeb! You got an extra spot on the team?
Zeb: Sabine! Glad to see ya. Well, it ain't me you gotta talk to Marshal Dune over there. From the looks of it, we're fixing to load up. Talk to her when we get back. I'll put in a good word for ya.
Sabine: Thanks Zeb! Tell her I'm great with explosives!
She told the Lasat the last part as the ships roared to life and then as the Lasat gave her a thumbs up, a quick goodbye before they left for the mission.
On the ship, Colonel Kallus had begun talking with Hera about the plan involving the Rangers encountering an Imperial presence on Kashyyyk.
Kallus: General. What are these reports of a couple Jedi joining our group to our mission?
Hera: Since the Jedi have agreed to serve the New Republic on occasional missions, they can decide to help us or not. 2 of them have decided to help us.
Kallus: Can they be trusted? Last time the Jedi helped the Republic of old, they were massacred by the clones who were the first troops of the Empire.
Hera: I have complete faith in these Jedi. My son is one of them. Has your trip to reinvigorate the Lasat population been for naught?
Kallus: No, General. I am just airing on the side of caution. While continuing to do so, I request that I join the ground assault so I can see for myself that these Jedi can be trusted and serve as servants of the Galaxy, not just us.
Hera: Granted, Colonel. These Jedi know the planet a d will be your best bet in navigating the environment and the wookiees.
Kallus: What makes them such experts?
Hera: They were born on the planet.
As Kallus continued to don his armor, blaster, and join Dune and her forces, he began imagining two wookiee jedi, something he thought was both absurd and frightening. When he got to the hangar bay, he was met by half of his expectations.
Kallus: You two must be the Jedi accompanying us I heard so much about.
Starkiller: We are, Colonel. I am Master Marek, and this is Jedi Knight Gungi.
Gungi roared a greeting to the Former Imperial agent turned Rebel Colonel.
Kallus: You two were born on Kashyyyk?
Starkiller: Yes. Gungi you expected since he was a youngling during the Clone Wars, but my parents hid on the world and had me, until they were killed by Vader. Vader took me as his own, trained me to be his weapon, and when the Rebel Alliance was formed, they used my family crest.
Kallus was shocked to hear this information and immediately cast whatever doubt he had aside and introduced the Jedi to the rest of the team of Rangers.
In orbit above Kashyyyk, Lord Cain had been discussing a battle plan with Thrawn, hoping to keep the wookiees in chains for his cloning experiments.
Thrawn: My Emperor, We have detected a rebel fleet that has just exited hyperspace. I suggest that we send the Imperial Army troopers, with the stormtroopers in reserve.
Cain: We have enough power with the garrisons of stormtroopers coming in to relieve the last one. The army troopers are ineffective with maintaining their loyalty to the Empire.
Thrawn: With all due respect, my lord, The wookiees would believe that they would be calmer if they see human faces help them, or they would see any human face as an enemy and attack any other humans on sight.
Cain: So that's your play? Excellent idea. Send the Army troops to maintain the security of the labs and have the stormtroopers guard everywhere else.
Thrawn: At once, my lord.
Cain: My apprentice, once all the necessary vessels are left to join the battle, you must board another destroyer, so the New Republic dogs think they destroyed a command vessel. If Skywalker is not with them, You will engage the less powerful if there are more. If Maul's forces arrive, deal with the silver skinned slimo.
Lumiya: Yes, my master.
Back on Dathomir, Maul and his apprentice have been meditating on Sith teachings until Maul sensed something stirring within his apprentice.
Maul: You have slowed down your rate of study. What is troubling you?
Relicta: It's that Jedi. The one who looked like the one we killed when he tried to hunt us. When I fought him on Mandalore, he said that he and the one we fought were clones of him.
Maul: Since the one you executed wielded red blades, and the one you've encountered on Mandalore had blue blades, what he has told you is true. Vader and my late former master killed him above Naboo, when their first superweapon was under construction.
Relicta: He still has to die. I will not gain certain closure for as long as he lives.
Maul: Then the decision to hunt him down will be solely placed in your hands. Take a ship and find him, if you must. We have an army to maintain and no assured method of recruitment.
Relicta: Yes, Master.
After meditating on her decision to find Starkiller, she finally made the choice and began planning on turning many Imperial troops into her own.
As the Rangers touched down along with the Rogue Shadow, they were greeted by the hiding wookiee chieftain flanked by 3 of his guards. As Gungi communicated with them about the situation, Marek translated for the group.
In the labs, the Imperial army troopers had been watching the wookiees get poked and prodded when a couple had seen a robed figure just vanish. As the soldiers pursued the figure, Relicta knew her plan was working, she was going to lure each soldier away from their posts to defect to her side. As every Army soldier continued to maintain their post, they knew their loyalties were no longer with the Empire.
Back on Nevarro, Djarin had returned to the client with intent to kill. When the 4 stormtroopers guarding him raised their blasters, he drew his pistol and aimed his free arm at another.
Stormtrooper: There's 4 of us. No way you walk put of here alive.
Djarin: I like those odds.
As the client was frozen in fear, he saw 2 blasts bounce off the armor as the hunter fired his pistol into one trooper, and the whistle rockets from his gauntlet fired in multiple directions killing the rest, sending the client running until Djarin fired a shot into the back of his head.
As the child cooed after opening the pram canopy, the beskar clad warrior tried to assure the infant that they were safe.
Djarin: Don't worry. I'll bring you back to your kind. You can trust me.
When the beskar clad warrior returned to his ship, he made sure that the pram was protected and prepared for more Imperial Forces.
As the Rangers, Kallus, Starkiller, and Gungi arrived at the Imperial base, the former ISB Agent saw a long highway leading up to the labs, much like the Imperial checkpoint on Lothal.
In the labs, Relicta finished her work moving the army troopers to position themselves ready to attack the stormtroopers. As she evacuated the labs, she contacted her master and began hunting the Jedi that were going to rescue the wookiees.
Relicta: Master, I have increased our odds against the Empire and I'm about to destroy the Jedi.
Maul: Excellent. Happy Hunting. When you destroy the Jedi, meet me on Oba Diah. We have an old alliance to rekindle.
As the female Zabrak ordered the Imperial army troops to fight against the stormtroopers, the New Republic squad and wookiee liberators joined in the battle and fought both sides. Kallus had ordered the troops and the chieftain to surround the lab entrance while the Jedi attempted to hunt whoever made the confusing move of turning the army against the stormtroopers.
Kallus: Where are you going, Marek?
Starkiller: Gungi and I are hunting whoever forced these army troops against the stormtroopers. Call Juno if you need any air support.
Kallus: Thank you, Master Jedi! Rogue Shadow, this is Colonel Kallus, we need you to lead an airstrike against any Imperial support that my come to reinforce the labs!
Juno: On my way, Colonel! I'll evacuate the prisoners if I have no other orders.
Kallus: Duly noted, Captain!
As Gungi and Starkiller found a cloaked figure, Gungi leapt in for a strike, but as the figure teleported away, Gungi was severely wounded with a stab to his ribcage, incapacitating the wookiee.
Relicta: I know who you are, Jedi. You don't fool me for a second.
Starkiller: A clone of the one you seek, yes.
Relicta: No! You are the one who took my masters away from me!!
Starkiller: You claimed to have fought and killed me, until you saw me on Mandalore.
Relicta: You will still die for Felucia!!
Starkiller then remembered what Kota told him about his vision of this woman was. As he steeled himself for a fight against the girl that his progenitor go and activated his two sapphire blades.
Gungi was crawling away to heal his wounds and as he saw the other Jedi Master fight with such raw potential compared to the Lady of the Sith. As Relicta threw her sabers after cloaking, Starkiller then balled himself up for a lightning infused Force repulse. As the energy blasted out of the Clone, Relicta had felt her robes be singed while she was thrown back against a tree. Starkiller then saw the figure disappear again and activated his unleashed state, sending Force lightning to his sabers. As Maris attempted to block each strike that looked like a blurr to anyone unable to touch the Force, but as Maris's arms continued to be singed, her defenses fell and Starkiller delivered a saber slam infused with Force lightning, further crimping her silver skin.
As Relicta used the last of her anger, what brushed it away was the last words that she may have heard from the Jedi.
Starkiller: You should've listened to me on Felucia years ago, Maris.
Relicta: That name is dead!
Starkiller: Your misery will end, Brood.
Relicta: I have a son! You can't make him an orphan!
Starkiller realized that since she was a mother, he had to reassure her that he won't come for her family.
Starkiller: I know what it is like to care for others like a family. They will be spared if they mean that much to you.
As Starkiller stepped closer to the fear-stricken zabrak, Relicta realized that she would join her former masters soon. Starkiller spun his right blade and stabbed her heart with a reverse grip, and stabbed her trachea with the left blade. The Marek clone then tended to Gungi and made their way back to the victorious alliance.
Aboard the Razor Crest, Djarin had begun searching for answers as to where the child he had in his care belonged. When he landed on Tatooine, he landed in a city where another job was about to take place that required multiple members. One member was a former Imperial Marksman by the name of Migs Mayfeld, and the others were a rather legendary pair; one was a Gand bounty hunter with a very keen talent for psychometry named Zuckuss, and a protocol droid like partner in crime by the designation 4-LOM.
Their job entailed taking some highly classified Imperial information that was about to be declassified aboard a star destroyer above Kuat. The veteran pair were very eager to get the job done efficiently and quickly. The other two, who had less experience were very dubious about what the intel was and who should possess it.
Mayfeld: So, Mando. You ever met those two?
Djarin: No. I haven't heard if them.
Mayfeld: My former CO told me that they wre tasked by Darth Vader to find a Corellian Freighter containing rebel officers and leadership. I never liked bounty hunters, but it's better than The Empire I can say that much.
Djarin: What do you plan to do once we get the information?
Mayfeld: From what I understood from those two, they're the kind to kill any partners to grow their share. How about we turn the tables on them, you and me? Huh?
Djarin: If those two are as legendary and skilled as you say they are, killing them would serve a tactical advantage and a good monetary step up in this line of work.
Mayfeld: Good. Thanks. We'll be rich and famous, well, infamous, for taking down those two.
When Mayfeld entered an Imperial encryption that checked out the crew entered the decommissioned destroyer and extracted the information needed from two different sections of computers. 4-LOM and Zuckuss had one half of the intel and Djarin held onto the other. As their clocks ran down, Mayfeld saw information about Operation Cinder and found that his CO was a field officer in the near destruction of his post on Burnin Konn.
As the bounty hunter crew split into two pairs and eventually spread themselves out, they were on the hunt to eliminate those they believed to be loose ends. Throughout the vacant destroyer, Djarin had used his cycler rifle to move from cover to cover as he searched for the droid. Mayfeld drew his DT-12 pistols and SE-14r pistol on the hunt for the gas breathing insectoid hunter.
Aboard the Razor Crest, The child had grown worried that he was left on his own, but remembered everything he had experienced during the purge almost 30 years ago.
As Zuckuss had turned a corner near the reactor room, Mayfeld had found the perfect shot with his trio of pistols, but a slip of one of his legs let out a screech causing Mayfeld to fire on the hunter, landing 3 precise shots to his right eye, heart, and his left thigh. A stray blast from Zuckuss's blaster left a hile through the rafters of the room as Mayfeld let himself fall to the walkways and make his way to take Zuckuss's information.
As 4-LOM continued to hunt one of the lesser hunters, he slowly began turning his head to see Beskar through a corner slot before seeing the cycler round fire through the corners of the halls, missing the droid's head, causing the droid to slowly approach approach him, blasting with the DLT-19 he had stolen from an Imperial outpost on Mimban.
Djarin knew that he had time to load another shot, and as he flanked the slow moving droid, he snuck around behind him and used another cycler round to the back of the hunter's head. As the brain-like head flew off the body, the protocol droid body collapsed forward, and Djarin switched to his pistol as he thought he had to fight his way back to his ship. When he saw his ship in the hangar, he tried contacting Mayfeld about his location.
Djarin: Mayfeld? Where are you?
Mayfeld: I'm not going with you. I'm taking a TIE to the rendezvous point. Meet me back at Mos Pelgo so we can get our credits.
Djarin: Fine. I'll meet you there.
As the two landed in different ports on Tatooine, they returned to their contractor, Ranzar Malk, they were each paid 32,570 credits, due to 4-LOM and Zuckuss perishing on the job.
When the Mandalorian and Former Imperial parted ways, Djarin had continued his quest to find the child's kind.
On Dathomir, Maul had recently learned that his apprentice perished on Kashyyyk, but her passing had a massive effect on his ability to maintain his own Sith Triumvirate. He had recently taken another apprentice in case Relicta decided that the way of the Sith was no longer important to her.
Maul: As you can feel, my new apprentice, Lady Relicta has been destroyed by the Jedi. Even though both of us had agreed to train you, it seems that you will learn the traditional ways of the Sith. This begins another chapter, Lady... Talon.
Talon: Yes, my master. We will conquer our enemies and usurp galactic power on a massive scale.

- 26.67% First time strike rate, including three such winners last term. First juvenile at Hexham.
Flat Profile
- Most experienced runner in the field courtesy of nine outings. Modest on first three starts over 6f, but has steadily improved for switch to handicaps and step up in trip.
- Runner-up in slowly run 10f Newcastle Nursery in September, off the mark penultimate outing in mile handicap off 55 at same track in early May.
- Had run of race up front, but pulled clear again when caught inside distance to win by 2½l. No subsequent winners but those out since have run to form.
- Last seen ten days later finishing third at Wolverhampton over a further furlong-and-a-half off 61. Travelled strongly but no extra when headed turning for home.
Summary
*Rebecca Menzies is a very capable trainer of juveniles who finds improvement from her charges more often than not; which is very much a positive for a horse who is only a few pounds from the top rated. However, while the damline is sound, the sire and damsire have poor records and stamina around Hexham is not assured.

Pedigree is very solid, neither stamina nor attitude would be a concern, and the his Southwell win is as strong as any British form in this line-up. - Fifth placed finisher only subsequent winner. Nevertheless, runner-up has since been consistent in handicaps off 62. Mark in mid-high 60s would be appropriate.
Summary
- Last two runnings have gone to David Pipe trained ex-French claimers, and while Free Chakarte and Koi Dodville had slightly higher ratings, Waitara still emerges on top at these weights. Moreover, she has shown consistent form throughout 2023 and a good attitude to complement same. 2023.06.03 09:21 Pretty_Escape_407 Ravenloft Character going transferring to Spelljammer
So, after waiting around 30 years to finally play Spelljammer, I got pretty excited about creating a character! I love Ravenloft and wanted to make a dhampir because Iam a huge Angel fan and a dhampir detective would be pretty cool to play. I started the background for my character but somehow I couldnt stop writing, lol. I wanted to make her a deep character, blend elements of Angel, Buffy, Frighteners, and Sixth Sense into her Dhampir College of Spirits Bard but also find a way to get to Wildspace from Bararovia, no easy task, some say impossible. I wrote this story and hoping for any feedback, I really like it and I hope you do too, tell me what you think!
ZAPADA At a very young age Francheska, was a music prodigy. The music that came from her violin was uncannily haunting and tranquil at the same time. As she got older, Francheska played her music at The Blood On The Vine Tavern, In Barovia. One night, a handsome admirer came up to her after her set and had her truly mesmerized. Francheska never felt like that before with anyone but something about him made her soon become enthralled in his presence. After talking for a few minutes, Francheska followed the man outside and continued to the back of the tavern. There they passionately embraced, totally consuming each other’s bodies. As their love making commenced, the admirelover of Francheska protruded his large fangs that glistened off the night’s blood moon, and tried desperately to gain sustenance from her exposed neck. Suddenly, vampire hunters led by Erasmus Van Richten intervened and attacked the monster. After fighting for most of the evening under the moonlight, the fanged foe was finally vanquished. The vampire hunter leader drove a wooden stake through the undead creature’s heart and watched it turn to ash. A few months had passed and Francheska started not feeling like her usual self. She would quit gigs early and head home to rest, she knew something was wrong and terrified about what it might be. In the coming months she became a recluse as her stomach started to grow. Francheska was pregnant and the father was the undead fiend that tried to end her life. She contemplated every day about what to do? Finally, she decided to put the baby up for adoption. She prayed the priests at the church would know what to do with it, perhaps even drive whatever “demons” it may have, out! Francheska wanted the baby to live a full life, something she knew she could never give it. On the evening baby Zapada was born, Francheska loved her from the very first minute she looked at her. She was amazed by Zapada’s beauty even though she was a dhampir, a child of a vampire. Francheska was deeply ashamed of how easily she was took control of by that monster and the guilt of having to let little Zapada go. The decision was very much a struggle for Francheska but ultimately she knew it was right. The church was located just outside of town near Tser Pool, not far from a Vistani Camp. The next morning she brought Zapada to the priests at the church and told them her story. They accepted the dhampir and promised to watch over her. Francheska wept as she left the church, leaving the most important thing in her life. She took a few steps back and handed the priests the second most important thing she ever had, her violin. She told them, “One day, please give this to her and tell her that this is all I can give, and that I’m sorry I couldn’t give more.” Francheska left the church and never returned. Many years had passed, and though dhampirs do age, it’s at a very slow pace. Zapada outlived all The Priests that took her in and the ones that replaced them. She looked around 25 years old but in reality she was over 200 years old. She grew up a wild child who loved casting illusionary magic. She knew about that night under the blood moon when she was conceived, and why she ended up at the church. She also knew, she was neither a true child of the night or the prey they fed on, she was something different. Though Zapada didn’t have the constant bloodlust as her sire, she did have a dhampir hunger that would occasionally occur. The first time she felt it was twelve years ago. She had an odd, visceral hunger; even though she just finished a big meal. Not sure what to do or why she felt that way; she decided to try to sleep it off. While asleep, the hunger had revamped itself into a vivid, horrific, and intense dream. In that dream, violent and murderous acts were committed, all through the bloodthirsty eyes of a vampire. Zapada watched him attack and gain sustenance from unsuspecting victims all throughout Barovia. One of his victims was a woman, who Zapada believed to be her mother, due to her similar looks and having her same violin being held in the vampire’s hand. Other victims included: Frightened women, men who desperately begged for mercy, and children with unheard cries. When Zapada awoke the next morning the hunger was gone, but all the sadness that her dream brought stayed with her. Deep down she knew, evil things walking around like that vampire had no place in Barovia and needed to be stopped! Zapada spent the next dozen years hunting the undead and other creatures of the night. She had some close calls but in her heart she knew it had to be done and never regretted risking her life to protect the innocent. After walking home to her cottage one night, a ghost passed by and asked for her help. He had a faint blue glow that outlined his body. He introduced himself as Stockwell and said “ Two weeks after I met my demise and became whatever I am now, I stumbled upon you staking a vampire with one hand and using your other hand to cast a Fire Bolt Spell on another. I thought wow; she could be the one that could help my family! So I followed you every day and saw you doing what you do best, slaying bad guys! I have to say, I’m very impressed!” Somewhat disturbed by the fact that he was watching her for weeks, Zapada nevertheless heard him out. Stockwell explained that his corpse had been stolen by a necromancer and he is controlling it to do many evil things while under the guise of him. “This framing has caused a lot of danger to my family and it has to stop! Everyone is trying to kill my family for revenge and justice but they are innocent!” Stockwell exclaimed. “The Necromancer is getting away with all of this and my family is suffering, please help!” Stockwell continued. Zapada wanted to do something and knew that she had the skills to do so. Stockwell was a major political official before he was assassinated by the necromancer while coming home in his carriage two weeks ago. There were no witnesses or any evidence that a crime even happened. Many of the villagers just assumed that Stockwell was alive and murdered townsfolk because he wanted revenge for losing the election. That evening, Stockwell brought her to the temple where the necromancer and his corpse were. Zapada stealthily crawled through the half open window at the temple and proceeded to the basement. There in the darkness, with the slight glow of ritual candles, the necromancer stood over Stockwell’s corpse and spoke unintelligible. As the necromancer finished speaking, the once still corpse started to move! Zapada moved quickly to the necromancer and made her first strike count! She pulled out her violin from its holster on her back and strummed a Thunderwave Spell. The necromancer flew back around 10 feet from the burst of thunder that was laid upon him and smashed his head against the wall. The ritual the necromancer conducted no longer was active and Stockwell’s corpse stopped being animated. Zapada then casted a Charm Person Spell on the necromancer as he laid injured on the ground against the wall. While under the spell, she told the necromancer that it would mean a lot to her if he walked to the jail and turned himself in; he did just that. Zapada went to Town Hall to speak to The Burgomaster and explained to him all the facts of the case. The Burgomaster was very close to Zapada for many years. He was one of the few people outside of the church, who knew Zapada’s true lineage. Many of the villagers would be willing to kill her if they knew she was a spawn of a vampire. Upon hearing the necromancer’s scheme, The Burgomaster informed the village of the ruse that was played on them. He also reclaimed Stockwell’s corpse and gave him a proper burial. Stockwell’s family came out of hiding and started to live a normal life again. The necromancer awakened from being under control of the Charm Person Spell while in jail, and vowed for revenge! Over the next few months, word got around about Zapada and how she helped Stockwell clear his name, posthumously. Ghosts throughout Barovia sought out Zapada’s help for their unjust deaths or other situations from their past lives that could use her assistance. With all the new cases, Zapada along with her weasel familiar she named Chicklay opened up an investigation agency and became gumshoes. Zapada spent lots of time with her ghost clients and solved many cases for them. She became very fascinated about the reasons for why and how they stayed on this plane after their death. She also wondered who or what made that decision? She spent months studying the subject, learning as much as she could. As she got further into her studies she felt it would be just a matter of time until she had a major breakthrough in her research. Then early one morning, she was awoken by a humming sound coming from the living room. Zapada walked into living room and there she would be visited by someone who would change her life forever! An orange mist appeared as a man walked through it wearing a top hat and shuffling a deck of cards that spewed energy from them. A portal that shared the same shade of orange stood directly behind him as we walked closer. “Zapada, the dhampir detective, I see that you are doing well for yourself these days!” The slender looking man said. I’ve been watching you through my home amongst the mists and noticed all the research you’ve been doing lately. I thought; why not give you a hand with your studies! With all the vermin and vile fiends you’ve been eradicating from this plane, it’s the least I could do; very good job by the way Zapada!” He added with a less than sincere tone. “First off, who are you and what are you doing in my home?” Zapada asked with a confused look on her face. “I am with The Powers Of Ravenloft. In this domain, we see all, we control all; well we find a way to control all, sometimes we get some help. That’s where you come in Zapada! With all your demon slaying, you’ve made our job so much easier! The evil has been eradicated in record numbers, and Barovia is a nice place to live once again. To thank for all that you’ve done, The Powers of Ravenloft want to offer you a Gift!” “What kind of Gift?” Zapada asked. The man reached in his pocket and handed her a piece of paper. “This paper shows you what you need to do and what you need to find the answers you are looking for with your ghosts. This Gift is a once in a lifetime opportunity for you, do you accept it?” “What if I say yes, what will happen?” “Like I said, you will learn more about the afterlife and the planes, more than you ever thought. The Powers Of Ravenloft won’t cause you any harm, we want to award you!” “Well, if that’s the case, I might have to take you up on that offer.” Zapada replied with a smile. “Is that a yes, then?” The man asked. “Yes, I accept! I mean, why not, you promised no harm.” “Great, that is wonderful! “Though, I only said that The Powers Of Ravenloft wouldn’t harm you, not that you wouldn’t be harmed!” The man grinned as he tipped his top hat and vanished into the portal. As the portal closed up, the paper Zapada was holding soon disappeared; it was merely an illusion! At that very moment Zapada started hearing voices! Little did she know, by accepting that “Gift”, doors to the many spiritual planes were opened! She seemingly became a magnet for thousands of unseen Whispering Spirits making their way through those doors in search of peace and/or answers. Pleads for help entered Zapada’s ears throughout the day. They came as faint whispers only to be heard by her! Months had past and Zapada eventually learned how to drown out the Whispering Spirts’s “white noise” while she worked on a case or went to sleep. When she had the time, she would look into some of the most urgent requests that came her way. Most of the Whispering Spirits were thoughtful of Zapada and were very patient about being heard. A lot of them helped her with her cases by providing spells along with other abilities. Occasionally, there were some Whispering Spirits that were loud, demanding, and very impatient with Zapada. They would cause harm to her if she didn’t help them right away! From extremely loud screeching that deafened her for a short while, to an intense fear that completely overtook her, some spirits had no bounds to be heard. Zapada understood that the “Gift” she accepted brought upon hardships that she wasn’t quite ready for. Through balance, mental strength, and determination, she got stronger and overcame those hardships. The ruse that The Powers Of Ravenloft pulled to distract her frrom keeping Barovia safe and to help the helpless, failed! One night at the detective agency was a very personal night. A case was brought to Zapada by a young girl. She explained that she was with her mother walking near the Svalich Woods when a man appeared about 30 feet away. Her mother walked away from her and to the man. They held hands and vanished deeper into the woods together. She mentioned that she tried yelling for her mother, but she didn’t answer back. Zapada knew she had to take this case, it felt deeply personal to her. While roaming the woods where the young girl’s mother disappeared, Zapada heard some talking. As she walked a little further she saw a male vampire kneeling on the ground about 10 feet away. A woman who matched the mother’s description was lying on a sheet, appearing to be asleep or dead. “Sorry to interrupt your fun there guy, but I think it’s time to for you to go bye-bye! Besides, you’re not the prettiest thing and I’m sure when she wakes up she’s gonna have some major morning after regret!” Zapada Viciously Mocked the vampire. The insult intertwined with a spell, sent psychic damage to the vampire and he fell to the ground. Knowing she didn’t have much time before he got back up, she had to think fast! Zapada quickly reached in her bag and grabbed a card from her Tarokka Deck that was given to her by a Vistani friend from long ago. Zapada used the fortune telling card as a Spiritual Focus Item and proceeded to warm up her vocal chords. She then belted out an intense Shatter Spell as the vampire was slowly getting back to his feet. Thunderous waves of sound bested the vampire’s fortitude as he tried desperately to flee. Zapada grabbed another card from the Tarokka Deck. This time she channeled a Spirit Tale and combined it with her bardic studies, becoming “The Tale Of The Runaway”! That tale transported Zapada to the vampire’s location. Now in close range, Zapada unsheathed her sharpened longsword and decapitated the fleeing vampire, turning him to ash. At that same time, a deafening sound crippled Zapada. The wrath of a Whispering Spirit had caused temporary deafness. Suddenly, Zapada felt someone grab her back; it was the child’s mother! She had become a vampiress, sired by the foe Zapada just slayed. With the vampiress’s exceptional strength, it was hard for Zapada to swing around her sword; she was in lots of trouble! Around that same moment, a voice came from the woods, “Mother stop! What are you doing?” The vampiress turned to see a young girl. Zapada did not hear the child’s voice and was slightly confused about why the vampiress left her. One thing Zapada knew though was she was now free to make an attack on the vampiress. Zapada turned around casted a Shocking Grasp Spell on her. That spell spawned a powerful electrical shock, which burned half of the undead fiend’s body to a crisp! She then grabbed her wooden stake and stuck it through the vampiress’s charred heart. As Zapada looked up, she saw the young girl who came to her office staring at the pile of ash that was once her mother. She said in a very emotional tone, “Momma why did you go with him, and why did you leave me?” Zapada understood her pain in many ways; for she too thought those questions about her own mother. Rain drops fell from the sky, and blended into the tears that ran down both of their faces. Soon after, they walked to the one place Zapada knew would take care of the young girl. As they arrived at a large wooden door, a priest with a concerned look on his face opened it. Zapada spoke as she held back tears. “Good evening father, I have someone that can use your help very much.” “Of course young lady, please come inside, out of the rain!” the priest replied. Zapada promised the young girl that she would check on her from time to time and apologized for what transpired earlier in the evening. Zapada turned around and walked home under a bright full moon, as her sadness reflected in the puddles as she passed them by. The next morning, The Burgomaster was on his way to Zapada’s agency to tell her some urgent news. Around the same time a man dressed in all black and carried a silver cane, walked in the door and presented a case to Zapada. She desperately wanted to forget the night before and this was her chance to do that, she thought to herself. The man explained to her that he saw a group of kids being taken by vampires and were heading towards the mists near the Vistani Camps. Normally, Zapada would do a thorough assessment on all her clients. She would usually cast a Detect Thoughts Spell to stop frauds, or possible ill intentions of clients. Due to her intense need of making amends from the night prior, she bypassed everything and left with the man in search of the missing kids. The man in black drove her in his carriage to the area where he said he saw the incident happen. It was a somewhat nice carriage; though there were some red stains near the driver’s seat. It smelled very much like blood but Zapada didn’t think too much of it. She got out of the carriage with Chicklay in her back pocket, and told the man to stay at the carriage. As she wandered through the high grass and heavy fog, The Mists Of Ravenloft got thicker and thicker. All she could think about was to save the kids before their fate would be the same as the poor mother from the night before. As she walked further, she eventually came upon a familiar orange mist and a portal. Suddenly, she felt a hard blow to her back and it made her fall against the portal. The man in black was there and delivered the hard blow with his cane; though he wasn’t the same person as before. A Disguise Self Spell must have been used to hide his true identity; it was the necromancer! Zapada used all her strength not to get sucked into the portal but the might of it kept pulling her closer. The necromancer looked at her and said, “The Dark Powers Of Ravenloft haven’t been too happy with you. They told me they tried shutting you down a while back. Somehow though, you’re still here! They came to me in jail and made me an offer, more like a “Gift” actually. All I need to do is help get rid of you, once and for all! In return, I’d get power unimaginable! Of course I agreed, because honestly I’m not too fond of you and I always get my revenge!” The necromancer let out a sinister laugh and followed that by saying, “With you out of the picture, this town will bleed, and the dead shall rise!” He then casted a Lightning Bolt Spell at Zapada, hitting her in the chest. The force from that sent her completely through the portal. The portal vanished, and The necromancer walked back to the carriage. As he opened the trunk to put his cane in it, legal pages with name Stockwell flew out and littered the road. Back at Zapada’s Investigation agency, The Burgomaster arrived and frantically looked for Zapada but she was nowhere to be seen. He left her a note that said “Somehow, the necromancer escaped from his cell this morning and could be out to get you! Your help is urgently needed to stop him! We believe he will destroy all of Barovia! Please when you read this, meet me at Town Hall and we’ll discuss what we can do to save Barovia from this menace!” As Zapada fell through the other end of the portal she landed on a wet, hard floor in a very crowded and loud place. The people inside looked very different form the people in Barovia. Zapada knew she was not in her domain anymore! She winced from the burn on her chest that the necromancer’s spell gave her, and looked around. She then gazed up in the air and saw this huge flying eye staring at her with a mischievous grin. Not knowing who or what this monstrosity was, she attempted to draw her long sword. The huge eye in the sky looked at her and said “Ha ha, no need for that young lady, we’re good people here. The name is Luigi and this is my tavern. By falling out of a porthole and face planting yourself on my floor instead of just using the front door, makes me think, you are new here?” Luigi said laughing. At the same time a cold beer was making its way through the air towards Zapada by a telepathic beam that originated from Luigi’s eye. “Welcome to the Rock of Bral, your “somewhat” friendly oasis in Wildspace. I’m sure you’re going to have a heck of a time here!”

2023.06.03 07:32 KonoKinoko Tuning help! I got the engine swap for the focus RS. now it's a monster fast, but drive as a brick, going straight on every single turn. I cannot make this car turn properly... please consider I'm a newby of tuning. I tried to set up the suspension as per some guide online, but.. it's still a brick.
2023.06.03 05:24 Logical-Sandwich-494 Very new to this. Is my weight loss plan appropriate?
30 Female 5'9" 170 lbs. Sedentary desk job. Looking to lose 20 lbs and just feel a bit healthier, and have more energy!
I have been starting with walking 30 minutes 3-5 times per week. I plan to start strength training for 30 minutes 3 times per week.
I was looking for advice on what I should set my calorie intake at? I have seen on some calculators that being lightly active and wanting to lose 1lb a week results in a calorie intake of 1639 per day. Is that a good limit for my goals?
Also, regarding macros, I think I understand most of what I have read but would like some input. If I get to the end of the day, meet my protein macro, but have extra calories to meet my goal. Can I go over on my fat macro or my carb macro as long as i stay under my calorie limit? Will I still lose weight?
Thanks for your help!

2023.06.03 01:24 Fabiann_02 can you possibly solve this or provide insight? (Long) (Very interesting case)
First and last post here!
This may be a long read, but I truly, truly appreciate it if everyone would stick around and add their insight to this.
Background: 21 male, 5'10, Caucasian (Scottish, Slovakian, French) Location: Canada
I have 2 sisters, 2 nephews, and 1 niece, which is important to factor in, and I'll explain why briefly.
When I was just little used to light up bright red only on my face and neck typically only in stressful or public situations (terrible social anxiety), it wasn't itchy, just hot and red and I would sweat a lot. According to my mom (54), she used to get the same thing in front of people but eventually grew out of it.
Now regarding my niece and nephews, they also get red in the face and have trouble regulating body temperature but not due to any type of anxiety, as it stands we could call it idiopathic and it resembles Lupus or maybe rosacea however - my oldest nephew also has some skin problems and my youngest often gets fevers and hives from many things but treats it with things like advil.
The above is important in MY case I believe because when I was around 13 I was put on 20mg of cipralex (2014), in October 2019 (17) I went into anaphylaxis for the first time due to amoxicillin which I took due to sinus congestion (mom also has chronically) and I had it lying around from a previous infection, the anaphylaxis scared me into not taking any medication so I abruptly cut down my cipralex and for some reason believed I wouldn't need them anymore.
After doing this, I one day woke up with the most severe depersonalisation and derealisation anyone could ever have alongside a gross number of other discontinuation symptoms which lasted over 3 months and eventually subsided after reinstating 10-15mg of the same medication, the most IMPORTANT part of this is I had developed Tinnitus and anisacoria after this AND I couldn't take the meds anymore because I developed symptoms of seratonin toxicity so I had to get off all together and just deal with it.
Fast forward to 2021-2022 and now things are serious, my body is behaving terribly since I've changed things up and it's worth mentioning that the rash / redness I used to only get on my face and neck had began to progress down to my chest and eventually to my legs but it's not itchy and only happens in the sun, in stressful situations/ conditions. That's the least of it, I began getting constipated by almost ALL foods and chicken and rice were my only tolerable foods (until they weren't), I wasn't getting rashes but it's like I developed this hypersensitivity in the signals from my stomach, it began feeling tight and caused me to be severely constipated for over 33 days (not exaggerated), my blood sugar was 1.3, you could say I was intolerant to almost everything but not allergic.
This is where things got weird, at this point I've seen almost all of the BEST specialists in Canada and been to the best hospitals which costed me a lot of money that I just happened to coincidentally have (now I don't) and a lot of time, as I mentioned I had been extremely constipated UNTIL I received saline solution VIA IV injection overnight, I got home a day later and had the most excruciatingly painful poop ever and it was disgusting - I know it was from the saline IV because this happened more than once and that was the only thing I was issued other than the mix of vitamins (Please explain this if possible!)
Now, I got the blockage out and still continued to have serious issues and kept myself near the hospitals (in Toronto), I had more needle holse in my arm than any addict ever (painful) due to the amount of blood work done but now I was down to 98 lbs from 184 (I was kind of overweight prior to all of this) and I had given up so I decided (f it, I'll have what I want) and started to intake calories again by what I thought was healthier (Boba, cauliflower bites etc) than what I used to have thankfully toronto had these options.
Anyway, this is what leads us to the most current circumstances/ situation - everything I ate / eat lots of carbs, sugar or fibre my body temperature increases and I get really gassy, my veins dilate massively, I become lethargic, low blood pressure and I have a red face BUT when I take things like vitamin C, D, Zinc, Dandelion, Burdock Root, Reishi (yes I taught myself natural medicine because I had to), the symptoms reverse BUT I get this 'tight' feeling in my stomach which is why I describe the whole hypersensitivity thing because I can feel almost everything. I get the tightness, the gas gets trapped, and my body temp decreases.
Now I'll give a brief on the important tests I've done due to suspicions I and few doctors had about specific diseases: HATS(tryptase and genes), MASTOCYTOSIS(c-kit), POLYCYTHEMIA VERA (jak 2), LEUKEMIA (bcr-abl), MYELOPROLIFERATIVE NEOPLASMS(calr), PORPHYRIA, ANEMIA (MANY TYPES), C3, C4, CRP, INR, ANTI DNA, LEUKOCYTES, PROTEIN (urine), IMMUNOGLOBULINS, THYROID ANTIBODIES AND FUNCTION, DOUBLE STRAND ANTIBODIES, RHUMATOID FACTOR (10 >14), VITAMIN D,MRI'S, CT'S(brain amd stomach), ECHO'S, ULTRASOUNDS (of everything), ALLERGY SKIN TESTING, SERATONIN(urine) and maybe more that I didn't see.
The results that were 'positive' and stood out + dates discovered:
•Thyroglobulin antibodies >184 (2023) •Thyroperoxidase antibodies >135 (2023) •C3 >89 (2021) •Bilirubin >30 (2021) •Albumin >53 (2021) •Urate >192 (2021) •Between 2021-2022, at my worst, I had consistently low wbc and neutrophils, whether from malnutrition or something else. I'm unsure •Sinus arythmia (2021) •Slight pericardial effusion (2022) •Head CT w/o contrast >scattered bilateral white matter lesions on brain? (2021) •Renal / Abdominal ultrasound >Mild hydronephrosis (2021) •Cardiac / Abdominal ultrasound >Trace right pluerual effusion, pericardial effusion, hydronephrosis (2021) •Spinal x-rays and mri's >consistent disc degeneration (2019-2023) and idiopathic thoracic scoliosis. •Endoscopy and colonoscopy >Clear (2022-2023) •Abdominal CT with contrast >jujenum distention and embelical hernia (2023) •Swollen lymph nodes in my neck simultaneously to rash (2023) •Idiopathic scoliosis (2014) •Undigested food in stool (2020-2023) •Heat rash from the sun (2020-2023) •Dermatographism (Childhood - now)
Very few food allergies or allergies all together. Dad had Graves disease Mom's mom has hashimotos Mom gets bumps from the sun Nephews get frequent fevers and hives (unexplained currently) Other nephews have red cheeks and nosebleeds frequently Niece has red cheeks frequently and is insensitive to extreme cold or heat My oldest sister has non celiac gluten intolerance Younger sister has bipolar and systemic Cystitis No other info
Test I've NOT had: TNF-A plasma levels Il-1 through il-6 Skin biopsy Bone marrow biopsy
I've ran my own dna test from 23 and me through several third party companies and didn't find anything serious or relating other than what I've already been diagnosed with (ectodermal dysplasia) which Noone else in my immediate family seems to have - I've been over my family history as much as possible and nothing alike OTHER THAN my mom, sister, niece and nephews have somewhat similar symptoms EXCEPT FOR the odd stomach sensations like the tightness or the joint problems.
For context, the ONLY drug use history: Smoked Marijuana when I was 13 a few times Drank hard liquor a few times between the ages 13-16 (bad, I know) and regularly drank red wine for a while when I was 17 prior to the reactions. I also want to mention that I had some very, very hard environmental circumstances during my childhood years that were out of my control as well, which contributed to the 'anxiety'.
Through all of this, I had many doctors blaming anxiety, even sending me to see psychiatrist when in reality I was a scared kid - this started when I was 18 (mostly) and I have no reason to make anything up AT ALL, this has been a long, uncomfortable, near death for a while, isolating situation. I'm dying to know what's going on and I haven't given up, I've had one person be there with me through the entirety of this and they know good and well it's not like me, all of that just made things worse but I understand.
I used to be into modifying cars (i had 4 already), boxing, weight lifting, bmxing, jogging, etc.
Yet people still thought I simply went mad.
The ONLY relief I've had through this is when I did strict carnivore diet, had the sedation for my colonoscopy AND when I ate a Scotch bonnet pepper - it relived everything for about 30 seconds (oddly) and I kid you not, I'm not sure the mechanism behind these things but they're which makes me think it's neurological? Nothing has remissed me to my old self completely.
I've also taken several different medications, including (mostly under the suspicions of mast cell disease) •Prednisone •Diphenhydramine •Famitodine •Ceterizine •Compounded cromolyn Sodium •Compounded hydroxyzine •Aspirin •Alka seltzer A few more I can't remember None of which provided relief and had rather strange side effects such as clicking in my jaw and tight stomach. +Meditation, Chiropractors, Accupresure etc.
Main symptoms: •Gassy 24/7 no matter what! •On empty stomach (after colonoscopy prep, for example). My stomach was burning but no gas. •Increased body temp on an empty stomach (100+) •Increased body temp (external), lethargy, shortness of breath, diarrhoea(at worst) typically from carbs even healthy ones, caffeine (dark chocolate & green tea), empty colon, external heat and now from almost everything. •'Tight' stomach sensation or squeezing from specific substances / supplements and decreased external body temperature. •Bones or joints popping / cracking too much •Tinnitus •Unequal pupils size (anisacoria)
NOTE: I become lethargic / fatigued and weak when my body temperature increases and my veins get larger.
When I take/ took said supplements (vitamin D, C, Zinc , Reishi, Turkey tail) My finger nails actually used to go purple at the same time my stomach felt tight and my body temp decreased and gave me some energy.
NOTE: My joints have been consistently popping and cracking more frequently than before, too, regardless of my nutrition or supplements.
As you can probably tell, I'm pretty desperate for ideas, I am / was supposed to have my whole genome sequenced and be reffered to a geneticist weather or not that's actually happening but until then, I need to hear from the community what I can do, I don't think I can get to the U.S either if that's even necessary.
I'm not here pity, I'm just messed up from all of this and appreciate any ideas from any individuals.
My ideas (neurological / hypothalamic disorder? thyroid disorder? Increased TNF? Metabolic acidosis?)
Thank you very much for reading this far and taking the time to think over this if you have! I really appreciate it!.
The only 'good' that has come from this from my perspective is that I learned an abundance about body functions, natural health, psychology, and I was capable of making a few books out of it. None of it has been easy and I wish I could feel 'normal' again, I don't care if some doctors disbelieve me anymore, I know it's hard to figure out due to clean looking tests but I couldn't be more serious.

2023.06.02 23:15 Mother-Tone-9496 Stage 4 Melenoma Experience
New to the forum. Im 49 yrs old will be 50 in September. My main thoughts back at the beginning of the year, will I make it to my 50th birthday? Thought I'd share my experience i have with Melenoma, treatment and side effects. May 2016 I had a mole the size of a half dollar on the center of my back. Diagnose was stage 2 Melenoma. I had it removed immediately with a 6in incision on my back and a lymph node removed with a drainage bag. Went to Dr regularly for blood work and to dermatologist for regular skin checks. December 31st 2022, diagnosed with stage 4 Melenoma. Spread mainly to my liver stomach lining and left lung. I had it everywhere, legs shoulders upper lung but those areas were small amounts of cancer cells. The oncologist immediately put me on immunotherapy 22 days after diagnose by infusion. I had a port put in my chest for easier access. I did not respond to the therapy. Cancer was getting worse. I lost 30 lbs and had no color in my skin. My liver was not working well and made my legs swell and caused raw sores from the thighs down. All the toxins from my liver was excreting through my wounds called weeping. I would have puddles under my feet in minutes. Til this day I am still recovering from the wounds. Able to walk with a cane now. I got skin rashes and nausea from the therapy. Not very many side effects. Dr. switched me over to chemo pill form. It worked instantly. I noticed a big difference. It's now June 2023 and my cancer has shrunk enough in the liver I can get them removed. Side effects from the chemo. Loss of hair, nausea, rashes, fast heart beat, vision changed, bleed easily and I heal slow. Still bloated and stomach is lumpy and hard. I'm hoping the removal of the liver tumors will reduce that. I feel 7 mos pregnant lol. Something to consider for stage 1 melanomies, have your primary keep a close eye on your liver. That seems to be the most common spot it will spread to first. Do bloodwork regularly to insure levels of the liver are in range. This is something i learned after I was diagnosed with stage 4. Remember though cancer is unpredictable even if your Dr keeps an eye in your liver it may still happen undetected. I hope this helps some people who maybe be going through the same thing. Take care!😊

2023.06.02 22:22 tmancny81 Do I have Long Covid or have I just lost my mind?
I have a unique situation where I am not sure what in the world is wrong with me. I will try to explain clearly.
In 2022 I lost my mom and pet back to back and was depressed for a few months. I had a short bout with Shingles. I also had to deal with a very painful fistula for most of the second half of 2022 (the worst pain of my life when it was abscessing. Then in early January my wife of 14 years told me she had met someone. She put me through 2 months of heavy stress and put me back into depression. She was my first relationship and I still love her.
Right around the time she was to leave me I also caught COVID. Ever since then I have had nothing but issues. I feel like I have lost my mind or am dying on a daily basis. Everything feels very scary and dark. I will go through my various symptoms. 2023 is making 2022 look like a cake walk.
- Strange feeling in head, like it is underwater or in a vice, being crushed or something eating my brain or like it is screaming, it is an awful feeling for sure. Head feels very heavy. Not like a headache, but definitely painful. It is like it isn't even my head. Thinking is difficult, feels like shaking thinking. I don't know how to describe this. I do not have racing thoughts, this is all physical feelings. It feels like I am stuck somewhere in my brain and can't get out or like I am stuck in a state between sleep and awake. Constant strange sensations in my head.
- Shakiness-constantly feel like I am shaking, almost in rhythm with my heartbeat, this is very unnerving, like room is slightly shaking or my head is bobbing. Also a slight tremor in hands.
- Blurred vision along with dry, burning eyes and lots of eye floaters. Stuff in vision makes it hard to do anything. Impossible to look at screens especially. Eyes no longer focus up close. Vision without glasses also significantly worse, can't even read the alarm clock in the night any longer. My opthalmologist says my eyes are fine when doing dilation test. They do not feel fine so must be brain related or something else.
- Can hear heartbeat through ear when lying down.
- Pains all over, not sure if real or neurology related. Especially in chest, bones, and gastro areas.
- Zero energy-constantly fatigued, littlest things mental or physical are tiresome.
- Constant sore throat along with nose that continuously fills with either clear bubbly mucous that I have to blow nose all day or with white stuff I have pick out. Nose feels constricted all the time and itchy like something in it. Nose runs like crazy when eating as well. My voice is much more hoarse than it used to be.
- Strange heightened sense of smell. I always had this, but it is now way worse. I can smell the paint in my apartment that no one else can smell.
- Ear problems, popping, making sounds when swallowing or opening mouth, cracking, and sometimes feeling clogged that hearing blocked. Feels like my ears/head/jaw will actually tear. Like everything is tight. This alone is enough to go insane. My ENT saw nothing wrong with nose, ears. Didn't even look at my throat.
- Biting sensations and crawling feeling on back all the time. Hands reacting to everything and wrinkly for no reason, when not even in water. Eczema.
- Frequent urination-especially at night.
- Tons of digestive issues no matter what I eat, even water causes them-pains, bloating, lots of gas both ends, strange tasting never ending belching when it gets going, strange constipation where don't go for a long time (Miralax and stool softeners do not help), stomach like other parts of body feels very tight/tense/frozen/being squeezed. Constant need to swallow. Really terrible reflux. I am terrified to eat on a daily basis.
- Actual sense of feeling within body does not feel normal, feeling like an alien, like I am not human. Not perceiving temperature the same as used to, 75 degrees feels like 100 and 30 degrees feels like 0. Like I am somewhat numb but also feeling lots of pains.
- Short-term memory issues, feel like I am much less intelligent. Unable to focus, concentrate, relax.
- Random spasms and twitches, arms, legs.
- Insomnia-mainly due to weird shakiness and strange head feeling. Other issues above also contribute.
- Very dizzy upon standing from lying down or sitting, always feel like going to pass out.
- Not sure if related but also started same time-significant reduction in gum/tooth health, lots of bleeding.
- I do have psychiatry issues, these probably relate to wife leaving and to current health issues-constant fear for no reason, I always feel like I need to run away from any situation I am in, easily startled, major depression, anxiety/panic attacks, no interest in doing things I love or anything in general, not able to actually laugh at anything. Feel like I am going crazy due to how I am perceiving and processing things. I do not feel like I am living in my own body/mind. I can no longer feel anything but pain, fear, sadness. I do not care about sports, video games, movies or anything anymore. Having DPDR as well, I do not feel like this is happening to me, but like I am watching it. I think my brain is trying to protect me, but I would prefer it didn't.
- Absolutely zero sex drive. This is not normal at all for me.
- Sounds are irritating to my brain.
- Lost 35 lbs in 2 months even though I am eating.
- Always feel like I am about to not be able to breathe or have a heart attack or have a seizure.
I am afraid whatever is happening to me is doing lasting damage. My dr gave up on me, he did a ton of bloodwork, an EEG, and a brain MRI. Everything has been clear. He first thought that either stress or Covid had reactivated a bunch of viruses in my body like HSV-1, EBV, or CMV but the antivirals did nothing to help. He diagnosed me with anxiety/depression (threw a ton of scary benzos and antipsychotics at me) only, which ended up with me in psych ward twice and they didn't listen to my symptoms either. I also had an upper GI and that showed some gastritis and some soreness in esophagus. Before all this I was a normal, healthy 41 year old guy that was happy, healthy, and went to the gym everyday. Although I did have 2 episodes of mental issues in my past, this just feels very different and I actually feel like I will be dead from this soon due to the weird head problem and gastro pains. I was on Celexa and Trazodone for about 10 years. The Trazodone always worked like clockwork for sleep. The psych drs threw everything under the sun at me and nothing seems to get me to sleep normal. I have not slept through the night since February. They tried changing my Celexa to Lexapro for the depression, that didn't touch it. Now I have been on Effexor for the last 4 weeks and felt nothing from it. I will probably stop it since it is known for shitty symptoms and withdrawals. My family doesn't believe what I am going through. I can't even mention it anymore to them or they want to put me back in the psych ward. I lost my house and they put me in a tiny apartment. I am going to see a new dr next week to hopefully get some answers or at least take me seriously. I will demand to be referred to a Neurologist as well. I literally feel like I should always be rushing to the ER I feel that bad at all times. I was out of work for 3 months, but had to return due to FMLA running out, I am pretty much worthless to them though. I can barely move at all without having pain. I find myself not moving and staring into space due to my head issue. I would have expected some improvement by now, but zero so far. I feel like my life is over, like I am a prisoner in my own body/mind. Not sure how much longer I can withstand this. I look forward to the few hours of sleep I do get as that is my only escape from the head thing and all the pains. It's hard enough dealing with the depression from my wife leaving, let alone all this other stuff. I should have a lot of life and happiness left, I just don't see it at this point. Everyone thinks I am either insane or just going through a divorce. I am not sure if Covid fried my brain or nervous system or this is a psychotic reaction to my wife leaving. Or Covid unleashed something underlying that was already there. Maybe this isn't related to either, or is a combo of both. I just really need some answers soon or minor improvement. This is hell on earth. I keep waiting for improvement and fighting through each day, nothing changes though. Not sure why I am existing currently, pain from morning to night is not living. I have had 5 terrible years in my life, 2005, 2006, 2013, 2022 and now 2023. This is on top of dealing with epilepsy during my teen years which was a nightmare. How much must I endure. I guess I had it too good from 2009-2012 and 2014-2021.

2023.06.02 20:25 MaritimeRecidivist Dog’s X-ray shows “Non-discreet mass effect to the right thorax”? Cross-posting here in case anyone’s seen anything like this before.
Edited to add correct image URLs.
We took my girlfriend’s 14 y/o dog to the cardiologist because her normal vet heard a 4/6 heart murmur (new development, no murmur 3.5 months ago).
Dog is F, 17 lbs, likely minpin/beagle mix (“meagle”). No cough. Resting respiration has been around 25 breaths/minute. Insatiable appetite. Weird pig noises she’s always made, but cardiologist called the noises concerning.
Cariologist (30 years’ experience) tried an ultrasound but wasn’t getting good imaging, so he did a chest x-ray to figure out why imaging was off. According to his consult with us, he’s never seen anything like this before. He said it appears there are a series of masses, with no defined edges, in her chest/maybe ribs. He used the word “cancer,” but ruled out every kind he thought it could be because he didn’t fluid anywhere. He also said he couldn’t find a good place to aspirate, because there was nothing to stick a needle in, so we’d need a CT scan to get the full picture (but also we shouldn’t put her under for a CT & really, what would we do with the info at this point in her life?).
Honestly, we’re just really curious if any of you have seen anything like this before? I’ve attached all of the imaging and also the ultrasound info:
Xray image 1;
xray image 2;
Xray image 3;
Ultra Sound 1;
Ultra Sound 2 Here’s the cardiologist’s official findings:
mild mitral insufficiency with no left atrial enlargement moderate tricuspid insufficiency with mild pulmonary hypertension underestimated by decreased right ventricular systolic function There is a non-discreet mass effect to the right thorax, and this may be causing some pulmonary hypertension Differentials are a primary lung tumor vs another tumor type
We appreciate any/all thoughts. Happy to (try to) answer any questions or provide further clarification.

2023.06.02 20:18 jimbobbypaul Ranking the Top 131 FBS Programs of the Last 40 Years: 84. Iowa State
Main hub thread with the full 131 rankings For all the Cyclone fanatics out there, I see you guys. For the 6th worst Power 5 team on this list, Iowa State has had incredible support, averaging 50,000+ fans a year even during their lows. Finally, after years of struggling minus a few nice Dan McCarney years, Iowa State’s found a coach that’s brought them consistent success in Matt Campbell. Outside of Campbell’s first year in which he went 3-9 and the latest 4-8 season in 2022, the 5 years in between (2017-21) all place in my top 7 ISU seasons over the last 40 years. Whether last year was an outlier or if Iowa State will regress to their historical mean remains to be seen, but the last 6 years have been great compared to what fans have been accustomed to.

- 184-283-5 record
- 0 conference titles
- 5-8 bowl record
- 5 consensus All-Americans
- 42 NFL players drafted
Iowa State certainly has a knack for producing really good RBs. 4 of their 5 All-Americans come from 2 RBs in Troy Davis (1995, ‘96) and Breece Hall (2020, ‘21). At just 5’8 183 lbs, Davis became the first player in NCAA history to rush for 2000 yards in back-to-back seasons, and remains one of only 2 players to ever do so. In 1995 he ran for 2010 yards and 15 TD, placing 5th in Heisman voting. He outdid himself a year later, rushing for 2185 yards and 21 TD, narrowly missing out on the Heisman, finishing to 2nd Florida QB Danny Wuerfel, who got 49% of the votes compared to Davis’ 43%. Davis won 3 of 4 regions, but lost badly in the South. Still, the tradition of producing strong RBs rings true, as Iowa State’s produced 8 RBs during the last 40 years with 2500+ career rushing yards. Notable NFL players include David Montgomery, Breece Hall, Allen Lazard, Pro Bowler Kelechi Osemele, and as a 49er fan, future Hall of Famer Brock Purdy.
Top 5 Seasons
Worst Season: 1997 (1-10 overall, 1-7 Big 12) Remember how good Troy Davis was, especially after I described him above? Well, his teams weren’t very good, going 3-8 in 1995 and 2-9 in 1996. So you can imagine how 1997 went after he had left for the NFL. Iowa State didn’t stand a chance in Dan McCarney’s 3rd year as head coach, and it’s honestly a miracle the Cyclones let him stay for so long, as it took 6 years for him to get his first winning season. The gamble paid off though, as he was eventually inducted into the Iowa State Hall of Fame. Still, 1997 was his worst year. They had a talented freshman QB by the name of Sage “Helicopter” Rosenfels on the roster, but he wouldn’t start for another 2 years. QB was not a big issue though, as Todd Bandhauer had a respectable year, completing 48% of passes for 2514 yards 20 TD 9 INT, leading the Big 12 in passing yards and TDs. Bandhauer was a 2-time All-Academic Big 12 selection, and is currently an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State. WR Tyrone Watley led the Big 12 in receiving yards with 827, and RB Darren Davis had 1000+ yards in just 9 games. Offense wasn’t a huge issue, but the defense gave up 44.8 PPG. The lone win on the year was 24-17 over 2-9 Baylor, and losses included 14-77 to #3 Nebraska and 20-63 to #13 Iowa, losing their 15th straight against the Hawkeyes.
5. 2021 (7-6 overall, 5-4 Big 12) For this season to be a disappointment but also top 5 on this list tells you how far Iowa State’s come under Matt Campbell. Make no mistake, it was a disappointment, finishing 7-6 after a preseason #7 ranking, but they were still the best 7-6 team in 2021 (out of 17 teams) by my metric. Iowa State returned 4th year starting QB Brock Purdy, consensus All-American Breece Hall, 2x 1st Team All-Big 12 TE Charlie Kolar, and Big 12 Defensive POTY LB Mike Rose, so the preseason expectations weren’t unfounded. A typical ISU slow start saw them barely beat Northern Iowa, and a classic Brian Ferentz Iowa performance had the Hawkeyes take a 27-10 lead (27-17 final) despite getting outgained 173-339 in yardage. 2 weeks later, a trap game 31-29 loss in Waco all but ended the Cyclones’ playoff hopes, despite outgaining Baylor by nearly 200 yards. However, in true Iowa State fashion, they rebounded to mess up Oklahoma State’s season a few weeks later, beating the #8 Cowboys 24-21 to improve to 5-2. A 2-4 finish was mostly because of location, going 2-0 at home and 0-4 in road/neutral sites. It was a squandered year for Iowa State, outscoring Big 12 opponents by an average of 12 PPG but going just 5-4. 8 starters on offense made 1st/2nd Team All-Big 12, by far the most in the conference. Breece repeated as consensus AA/Big 12 OPOTY with 1774 yards and 23 TD from scrimmage, while Rose earned 1st Team all-conference again.
4. 2018 (8-5 overall, 6-3 Big 12) For the first time since the Big 12 moved from divisions to a round robin format in 2013, Iowa State wasn’t picked in the bottom 2 with Kansas. Big 12 media picked them 7th, this time coming above Texas Tech, Baylor, and of course Kansas. But after starting QB Kyle Kempt went down in the season opener, and backup Zeb Noland went just 1-3, Matt Campbell gave a shot to a freshman by the name of Brock Purdy. In a sort of foreshadowing for names in the NFL, Kyle became a mentor to Brock, and Purdy exploded onto the scene, throwing for 4 TD and rushing for another in a 48-42 win at #25 Oklahoma State. He’d top that a week later, beating #6 West Virginia and Will Grier 30-14, this time the defense stepping up big to hold Grier to just 67 total yards. ISU never looked back with Purdy, and nearly made the Big 12 title game if they had beaten Texas. They finished the regular season 8-4, 3rd in the Big 12, and nearly beat 11-2 Washington State in the bowl. Campbell won Big 12 Coach of the Year for the 2nd straight season. Purdy was 6th in the nation in passing efficiency, completing 66% of passes for 2250 yards 16 TD 7 INT, on 10.2 YPA. RB David Montgomery had another 1000+ yard rushing season and has gone on to have a productive NFL career. WR Hakeem Butler was 3rd in the nation in yards per catch (22.0), getting 60 passes for 1318 yards and 9 TD.
3. 2017 (8-5 overall, 5-4 Big 12) Before Brock Purdy and Iowa State could run, the 2017 team had to walk. Years of effort from give-it-their-all players like Allen Lazard and Joel Lanning culminated in a magical 2018 season that might just be the fondest on this list. ISU had gone just 11-37 over the previous 4 seasons, so a 2nd to last place Big 12 finish was expected. After a 2-2 start, ISU pulled off maybe the biggest win in school history, beating #3 Oklahoma 38-31, who’d go on to make the playoff with Baker Mayfield winning the Heisman. LB Joel Lanning, who was the team’s starting QB the previous 2 seasons, was the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week, logging 8 tackles, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery, as well as 9 rushes for 35 yards and 2 completions for 25 yards on offense. A few weeks later against Oklahoma State he’d become the 1st player in the last 10 years to record a pass TD, rush TD, and half sack in the same game. After the win over OU though, just a few weeks later Iowa State would ALSO beat #4 TCU 14-7!!! A few one possession losses later and ISU finished 7-5, but would beat yet another top 25 team in the bowl in #20 Memphis.
Lanning was named a 1st Team All-American by FWAA, racking up 114 tackles, 6 sacks, 5 TFL, 1 INT, 135 rushing yards, 47 passing yards, and 3 TD. Not bad for a former QB. QB Kyle Kempt was one of the most underrated stories of the season, emerging as the starter in the 5th game and going on to throw 15 TD to just 3 INT. Kempt was a 5th year walk-on who had only thrown 2 passes in his career prior to the Oklahoma game. By the time the season was over, he had 2 wins over top 5 teams, and today is still on the team as a coach.
2. 2000 (9-3 overall, 5-3 Big 12) Like the 2017 team, the 2000 Cyclones came out of nowhere, a dormant program that had gone just 27-80-3 the previous decade. ISU players knew the talent they had though, led by future NFL QB Sage Rosenfels, one of 9 players that would go on to make NFL rosters. Another would go on to join the Iowa Senate, and the late LB Justin Eilers would fight in the UFC. They played a very favorable schedule, going 8-3 in the regular season with 0 wins over Power 6 teams with a winning record, but did beat 7-4 Ohio, 8-5 UNLV, and rival Iowa for the Cy-Hawk. ISU put any “soft schedule” talk to rest when they beat the Big East’s 3rd placed team, Pitt, in the bowl 37-29. Rosenfels had a nice curtain call, winning offensive POTG with 23/34 passing for 308 yards and 2 TD. Rosenfels did what he had to during the year, with deceiving stats of 2298 passing yards 8 TD 12 INT. He was a solid runner though, and would become known for his patented “helicopter” move in the NFL, rushing for 381 yards and 10 TD. RB Ennis Haywood and C Ben Bruns were ISU’s two 1st Team All-Big 12 selections, as Haywood ran for 1237 yards and Bruns led the way. The 5’6(!) JJ Moses led the team in receiving with 775 yards, and was named team MVP.
1. 2020 (9-3 overall, 8-1 Big 12) Ahh, but it had to be the 2020 team at #1. Even my algorithm places this team way above 2000 even though they had the same record, with the 2000 team finishing ranked 27th and 2020 finishing ranked 7th. After a typical ISU slow start, losing 13-30 to UL Lafayette, the rest of the year couldn’t have gone much better. In the 3rd game they beat eventual B12 champion Oklahoma 37-30. Later on they beat #17 Texas in Darrel K Royal 23-20, essentially ensuring Tom Herman would be fired after the season, and stomped 6-4 West Virginia 42-6. ISU entered the Big 12 championship game against Oklahoma as the 1 seed, and had an opportunity at the end to win, but came up short 21-27. A 34-17 Fiesta Bowl win over Pac-12 champion Oregon was pretty satisfying though, and Iowa State finished with their highest ever postseason ranking at #9. They cleaned up in the Big 12 accolades, taking up 9 of the 22 1st Team all-conference slots. Breece Hall was Big 12 Offensive POTY and a consensus All-American, with 1752 yards and 23 TD from scrimmage. LB Mike Rose won Big 12 Defensive POTY with 99 tackles, 10.5 total TFL, and 5 INT. Campbell won Coach of the Year, and WR Xavier Hutchinson and DB Isheem Young won Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year and Defensive Freshman of the Year, respectively. Shoutout to 1st Team All-Big 12 TE Charlie Kolar as well, who was a consistent force making 1st/2nd Team all-conference in each of his 4 seasons.
5th Quarter
Iowa State fans, what do you look back more fondly on, the Matt Campbell years with expectations of competing for a Big 12 title, or the Paul Rhoads years with a win over #2 Oklahoma State and some other fun upsets? Do you think Brock Purdy was always as good as he played for the 49ers in 2022, or is he mostly propped up by a stacked San Francisco offense? Who was better, Troy Davis or Breece Hall? Does David Montgomery take the 3rd spot or does that go to someone like Darren Davis/Alexander Robinson? Aside from going there, what makes someone choose to follow Iowa State? And how’d I do on your guys’ history?

2023.06.02 20:06 MaritimeRecidivist Anyone ever seen anything like this? “Non-discreet mass effect to the right thorax”
Xray image 1;
xray image 2;
Xray image 3;
Ultra Sound 1;

2023.06.02 19:33 TiltedWit ICCU, 12V, or other battery issue? This is your thread -- Thread Updated 02 Jun 2023
Thread updated 02 Jun 2023, original comments/etc can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/Ioniq5/comments/125oyxe/iccu\12v_or_other_battery_issue_this_is_you) ---
Alright, a lot of posts are coming in from people with 12V and ICCU related issues. We've decided to create a megathread about this in order to better organize information for users experience issues.
Individuals posting experiences will be directed to this thread rather than making their own post about the issue.
Form for users with issues
https://forms.gle/NNqrBqp1PGY8LNr8A Please fill out the above form if you've had any ICCU issues. Please note the responses
are public. Being signed into a Google account is required to fill out the form in order to prevent abuse but the email address

https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2022/HYUNDAI/IONIQ%2525205/SUV/ What we know so far
12V Battery Dying
Hyundai has acknowledged a 12V drain issue they state resulted from excessive Bluelink access. They limited the API requests available each day in order to ensure this does not affect further users.
ICCU Failure
Hyundai has not, to my knowledge, specifically stated a cause for this failure as of yet. It does appear to be affecting a number of owners and typically seems to happen between the 9 - 15 month mark. There is currently no reason to believe this affects every vehicle and we will need to wait for official analysis in order to determine the likelihood of a specific car being affected.
Are these issues covered under warranty?
Yes
How many people have this issue?
Unfortunately we don't have any information on this yet. There have been a number of posts here on reddit as well as other Ioniq5 specific forums that indicate it surely isn't a one-off problem but being able to say it affects 1% of owners versus 50% is completely unfounded at this point in time.
Can I do anything before I have the issue?
Unfortunately, no. Hyundai is not preemptively replacing components before they go bad. Some people have begun to store a 12V battery jumper in their vehicle in case they experience a 12V issue.
What do I do if this happens to me?
Get your vehicle towed to a dealership. Feel free to let them know it might be an ICCU problem as there have been reports of some dealers being completely in the dark on the issue (there isn't a TSB to point to so unfortunately they'll have to take your word on it for now). From there keep in touch with your dealer about repair procedures and timeline.
Ensure the dealer replaces
both the ICCU and the related fuse. Replacement of one or the other has resulted in further problems down the road.
How long does a repair take?
It seems the lead time for the ICCU module and related fuse is somewhere around 3-6 weeks currently. This means you may well be in a rental vehicle for that time frame.
Hyundai should either provide a loaner through the dealer or cover the rental costs. Can I force Hyundai to buyback my vehicle?
Lemon laws vary
drastically state to state regarding time frames, reimbursement amount, etc. A decent rule of thumb is if the repair is >30 days
or you have taken the vehicle for repair for the same issue >3 times you may well want to contact a lemon law lawyer in your area for a consult.
Reddit is not a good place to take legal advice.
I'm scared this will happen to me, what should I do?
Don't panic. There does not appear to be a safety concern here and instead it'll just make for a bad day of dealing with towing and service center employees; it won't end your world but it certainly will be annoying.
Edit: Some reports state this happened while driving and caused the vehicle to slow to a max speed of ~25mph. This
could be a safety concern if you're cruising along on the highway.
How many do we know of so far?
Responses to the form can be viewed simply by visiting:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vQ4uqDgqzczkc_l9PAY9p2imhhAMDggN47qeJf4vaz5691T3Hk-YrWoxALT6OTvc40q86imlbKx3pks/pubhtml Edit with additional questions answered (nedlinin):
Has this issue affected any 2023 MYs?
None that I know of so far but they are also much newer and this problem appears to show up around the 12 month mark.
There have been a few users that have reported this with their 2023 but the number is extremely small so far. Hyundai techs seem to believe the 2023 ICCU is being installed into 2022 models to fix the issue which would indicate Hyundai believes the 2023s to not have this problem at this time.
Has there been any reporting a of a repeated failure once the ICCU and fuse have been replaced? Or are we seeing that it is a solid fix?
Unfortunately it is hard to say so far. They could be replacing with the same ICCU which might fail in 12 more months. The hope would be that they've actually identified and fixed the issue but we simply don't know yet.

Listen here you mouthbreathing, iPad-greasing little shits. I know you’re exhausted from struggling with fractions and your book report on The Rainbow Fish this year, but now that you aren’t being stimulated by Mrs. Schwin and her Hydrocodone 7 hours a day anymore, please use what little room you have left in that pink puddle between your ears to absorb this one last piece of information before it collapses under its own weight for the summer:
Stop shooting Horrorborous’s body. Shoot his bomb instead.
We’re in Profreshional now. You have no excuse to not look at the HP bar and notice the pathetically small damage that inking or egging its body does. And yet somehow, I see all of you spraying up your ink in the air the entire round as if it would suddenly do something. Let me break it down for you; it won’t. You aren’t gonna hit a secret weak spot that no one else found before, and you aren’t going to hit a random crit or something. Those do not exist here.
I am not willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. Because Horrorborous shares the EXACT SAME MECHANIC as Steelheads. Anyone short of a lobotomized dementia patient high on all the drugs known and unknown to mankind should be able to connect the dots between “This guy with a bomb you’re supposed to splat before it goes off” and “This guy with a bomb you’re supposed to splat before it goes off, but bigger!” You probably have even seen a Steelhead within the last 5.5 minutes so you it’s definitely fresh in your underdeveloped mind!
Regardless of that connection, it’s still so painfully obvious that I’m pretty sure you could show your grandparents who haven’t gamed since Pong and they could figure out what you’re supposed to do! What more could Nintendo possibly have done to hold your animal cracker dusted hands and make it more clear to you? Add a big arrow? Have the Squid Sisters pop in for a quirky explanation?
I wish this game mode had voice chat, which is probably older than you, so I could unleash the unholy rage of a thousand suns I feel whenever I see you pathetically flail your ink and eggs at his body like a flashbanged infant!
Santa isn’t real, you malformed lump of cells.
Shoot. Horrorborous’s. Bomb.

2023.06.02 07:33 almostalwaystiredxxx MTV True Life: I’ve gained 30 lbs and live under the same roof as an Almond Mom
Hey guys, this sub is the only place I feel safe posting about this, so here it goes.
As the title says: I’ve gained about 30 lbs recently (over the last year and a half). I had some really tragic things happen in my personal life and my weight really spiraled out of control for a while. I also had serious issues with my ADHD meds, which played a significant role in my weight gain too.
But, my medication issue is fine now, and I’ve been doing my best to lose weight the past 5 months by going to the gym 3-4 days a week and keeping a pretty strict diet. I’ve lost some of the weight, but certainly not as much as I need to lose to look like myself again.
This isn’t really the main problem, though. The main problem is my Almond Mom.
She constantly comments on what I eat, when I eat, how much I eat, how I look, what I wear, etc.
She also constantly complains to me in private about how much my brother eats, what he eats, when he eats, etc. and she makes the same comments to me about my Dad too. She’s always criticizing their appearances to me behind their backs which only makes me wonder what she’s probably thinking about me.
Well, she went too far with me this time. We got into an argument and she told me I look like a pregnant woman; that I should be ashamed of how I looked in the clothes I was wearing; that she doesn’t believe I’m really “dieting” because how can I look the way I do if I’m actually “dieting” all the time?
I’ve never felt worse about myself than I do at this point in time. I feel so heart broken knowing this is how she sees me and this is what she thinks of me.
How do I recover from this? I don’t know where to go from here.

2023.06.02 03:01 KentuckyRootHero [TOMT][MOVIE][2000s] B-Movie Zombie Horror/Comedy
I'd say approx 2009-2013 ish, on Netflix, low budget B-movie style zombie horrocomedy movie. Quite possibly a British movie or cast. Maybe NZ or Aus.
Film was was about a few friends living in a mansion going to the mall and getting supplies trying to survive zombie outbreak. They leave the mansion to find more people, find a girl who they try to save. Guys are thirsty af over the girl.
Most die, girl dies, one character ends up stranded on desert island.
Some beats from the movie:
Nerdy guy in back of car keeps introducing himself to the girl.
Hospital where girl worked or office or something and the group hide under a table and the zombies fart as they pass the gang.
At the end they're on like a puddle jumper plane and the girl got bit. Someone hooks a chute up to the girl and pushes her out and there are fewer chutes than there are people in the plane.
Crash land on beach, bleak near the end of movie, stranded on island. Dude gets to overrun army camp and film ends.
For the life of me I cannot remember the name of this film.
TL;DR which British zombie film can you see a zombie fart in.
